PrinceM, don't try a semantics game. "Die in a fire" or "Get hit by a bus" isn't the same as saying "I'm going to arson-ize your ass" or "I'm going to hit you with a Greyhound", but the same connotations apply. Jeez, do we have to keep revisiting this semantics bullshit every few weeks?

You realize you're damning the man who's after a pedophile, right? I'm a harsh critic at using those type of threats, but with the proof he's shown I really think the harsh words are warranted.

I'm not damning anyone. No where did I say I agree or disagree with either of the parties. I am just pointing out that this flame does not follow in the guidelines of the new flameboard rules.
 
And I'm saying don't argue the semantics of the legitness of the thread when he's right. Thus, like I said on page 1, I approve of this.

And no one is going to stop you from approving it. I just want to know why its okay for the Mods to ban WSM and others for making the same type threats, but under other situations, other people are allowed to get away with it. If we're going to use rules and guidelines, everyone should be submitted to them, no matter what the situation.

Also, I'm not trying to argue with you, only playing Devil's Advocate.

There has been nothing specified that I've seen that says that its acceptable if its in response to situation a or situation b. Did I miss something?

I'm hoping we can get a little modmin clarification in here, actually.
 
If I posted this in the RL thread I would get infractions for flamebaiting. So I decided to just lay it out here.

Another I think I'd like to point out. If iamdrew is really a pedophile, then he should be encouraged to seek professional help and be treated, rather than flamed/threatened/etc. I don't think we should be able to flame someone's mental illness, and as mentioned before, have them seek out the help they need.

Yea not that I disagree with you on that, not entirely. It just happens to be something that came up the other day between some friends and I. There is no rehabilitation imo.. for someone's preferences.. that's just who they are :(

There's a difference between helping someone get through their mental illness and dealing with pedophelia. Would you want a known child molester pleading the insanity defense and getting a year at the local luxery mental hospital, or would you prefer them find their way into a body bag through a high-security prison?
 
Before I get slammed, I would like to go on the record that I am not defending iamdrew's position, I do not think anyone should be dating 12 year olds (including other 12 year olds, the little bastards) , and I am not out to get PrinceMercury.
 
I am going to have to side with both jamal and prince on this one... This was the most correct form of action to fixing this problem for prince. If he would have posted it in that thread it would have been flamebaiting.. if he posted it in PMs it would have been harassment but even though it is NON-FFXI related this is still the best place to put it and truthfully the only place he could post it without getting some kind of infraction... which he doesnt deserve.

On another note. Saying i wish you were hit by a bus... is not a threat... saying i am going to hit you with a bus.. is a threat. Prince has a good flame here but sadly one that masta Audino and his flameboard killing rules is probably going to lock for some reason i haven't even considered but they think has merit.

As far as the other thread is concerned.. 12... are u fucking kidding me.. i had masterbated like twice when i was that age.. hardly ready for a relationship. Sadly there is no real age of maturity and there is no way to prove that you are mature enough for a relationship or not hence the age requirement for getting involved. Im not saying that no 17 year olds can have a relationship with an older person i am saying that as a whole there are far too many 17 year olds that are far too easily impressionable to be in a real relationship. Same as there are a few 20 year olds that cannot handle a real relationship but 18 is the cut off which seems to be right... so deal with it.
