Idiotic Red Mages: Wave of the Future

I come across as an asshole all of the time, and look at my dots.

There's a difference between being a troll and being an asshole. The rating system helps distinguish the two rather well.

I disagree. There's plenty of people that troll the boards that have green dots. Difference is that they have "popular" friends. That is, unless your definition of trolling differs from mine.

I'm guessing yours is similar to "Not being liked" or "Posting things that differ from the general population's opinion".

Your rep is extremely low for someone with 8000+ posts. Quality over quantity please.

There is also a difference between asshole and incoherent fool.

Yes, I know. I never stated it was high for someone with 8000+ posts. I get rate downs a lot because I'm an asshole.

However, a fuckload of my posts are from before the rating system was implemented.

And really, quality over quantity? That's just stupid. I really, really do expect to get rate ups on all of my posts, otherwise I get sad....

You guys hear of the new free mmorpg, its called Clique Wars. It will be a hit.

lol, witty ;p

Anyway, back to topic?

Since you want to call it gimp. That was the setup on Stuff such as Khim, where the resist rate is through the roof.

Stuff like Tia you say are poon, or resists will barely occur?

Here is the other setup. Leaves me with +57 MND without my Shield(+3?), 2 Geist Earrings(Storage)+2 adding along the fact I still have not eaten...Goblin Mustpot.

Which would put me at a total of +69MND on things of which will not resist as much with basic enfeebling gear, and merits:

ffxi_20080727_165019.png

If you really want to get smart with me, I could -5MND from the Neckpiece, add Enfeebling torque with +7 Skill, swap in Errant Body for +10 instead...

Making me have +62MND with decent enfeebling equipment, and STILL land those 95% of the time. WITHOUT Goblin Mushpot. Making me have a grand total of +72MND, -WITH- 650MP~ Still gimp?

Considering you only 5 less +MND than I have with your Morrgy gear? 5 Less base MND for -10 less MND I have total? NOT including my non-existant MND merits I have yet to build. By golly, when I have all that MND gear you got access to, maybe I won't be gimp no more because then I can wear Mag and Loq earring Fulltime in Earring slots to compensate for my MP loss. Or that +MP Cape ya got Thar. /sarcasim(sp)

Making me, with the able gear I have, WITHOUT MND merits, or your Salvage equip...only -5MND Less than you. Irony, if you can call it that, hardly gimp.

And I don't need +MP Equipment fulltime. I don't have MP problems anytime I do anything. Why do I need more MP than I use?

When did this fight turn from "Wearing MP+full time in all slots" to "Your gimp if you only got so much MP when using modifiers to cast Slow/Para" ?? I'd like to know.

Keep in NOTE I have 0 Salvage gear, which has exceptional increases to MND that -I- do not have access to. So trying to pull off the "I got Salvage gear, and I got this much MND, with this much MP, so you're gimp" fails. Especially when you can add +MP on slots

You got....+4MND more than I do on feet, +2 more on Legs, 8 on Body that I would normally be unable to use(read above) without my AF2 Hat(Situational)-(Non existing). This allows you to add +MP in those places I can not, nor would I want to.

But, if I can conserve my MP so effectively, that I do not need +MP in those gearslots...why wouldn't I add MND? Instead of MP?

Having an advantage, when you have exceptionally well gear such as Morrigains, to call me gimp because I do not have what you have, is moot.

Try to at least consider the situations, that I have what I have at my level that I have access too. I am currently doing Salvage, and have not obtained those parts so yer point is yet again...moot.

Again. It was based to those who never use MND gear, what don't you understand?

just curious, but why don't you use a terra's staff as well if you complain about resist rates?

You use +MND on Club for things that will barely if ever resist you.

The setup me/Pchan was talking about, of which he called my setup "Gimp" - was the setup that I was using geared against HNM like Khim and Cerb and the sort, that need HQ/NQ Staff to land properly.

That was gear setup for mobs such as Tia, Fafnir, Miniscale Salvage/Dynamis/Limbus Mobs.

If you resist on other mobs, you'd swap gear back and forth and adjust them accordingly to compensate for resist rates. Unless you're /BLM using Elemental Seal, you'll need the Staff(like you mentioned) to land more.

Resist rates wasn't my problem. Just defending myself, adding more MND on the majority of the mobs in FFXI. He has said I was gimp for only having +45~50MND with 600~MP on mobs when casting Slow.

You're not gonna cast on high tier mobs that naturally resist alot, sacrificing all your Enfeebling equipment for MND equipment. Less of course you have AF2 Hat and using AF2 Body(Per say Khim), then adding excess MND would be a breeze.

I showed my other gearset, was just an example.

You didn't say anywhere that the gear you mentioned earlier before showing your screenshot was your enfeeb gear. You just said you had ~42 MND and 650 MP with food. That's why Pchan called you gimp.

And yes, I'm well-aware of using MND for things that don't resist you.

Anyway, Pchan do have a resist set as well, just to make things clear, with Duelist's Chapeau+1, Altruistic Cape, enfeeb torque, AF+1 body etc.

so much and yet so little really said

I would find it odd for a rdm enfeebling to use errant top vs the AF top. The AF gives skills right to the enfeebling. Will the +10 mind really increase that slow/II duration so much that it would be better? As for salvage gear any group of 6 can do all the zones. I do find a group of 8 people to be more ideal. So the only reason you have no access to that gear is yourself. I know for a fact the JP /sh all the time for people to go with them. Also the gear a rdm uses really depends on what the rdm is needed there as. Some endgame have only 2-3 rdms set up for the job of enfeebling the NM/HNM while the rest are outside healers/hasters. </drk stun gun counted too in the 2~3>

I have 2 main sets of gear on rdm. I have 1 that ups my MP for when I am required to be a wanna be whm with convert. I get about 940 with that set, no limbus earrings or those +50 mp rings. Even with this set up I have about +25~30 on mind and int without trying to up those two stats. Then I have my semi good enfeebling/nuking set. This also encludes my magic acc rings <omega and Balran>. This drops my MP pool to around 700mp give or take. The set is not yet done, so i am not sure how much mp I will have when it is done. That set DOES NOT include any salvage gear <yet>. I have been playing around with the magic acc to see for myself the effects these have on my spells. Wiki can be changed by any half wit moron. So it is better to see for yourself if something stated there is infact true.

There is a lot of gear out there a rdm can get now that takes less time than trying for rdm relic hat be it. Events like assault, nyzul, einjhar, salvage, or even sky if you aim for MP gear. Some sea capes that are great for rdm can be duoed. most are easily done with lower numbers of people, so you CAN get friends together and do it. So before you bitch rdms that don't use mind should have their eyes gouged out, it might help to know what it is the rdm is required to be for the event. As for exp, in most merits you "should" have no time to cast slow/para/blind. Besides most tanks want HASTE over those spells. That is of course assuming you have a "main" tank. In non merit exp parties your complaint would have some value IF the rdm was not the sole mage. Now days most times the RDM is the only mage even in 40+ parties.

You didn't say anywhere that the gear you mentioned earlier before showing your screenshot was your enfeeb gear. You just said you had ~42 MND and 650 MP with food. That's why Pchan called you gimp.

By his comment, He also made the assumption, that me, as a career RDM would not have more than just that Enfeebling gearset. Shouldn't have to explain every little detail, to make sure people don't assume anything.

Should I of made the post stating both my MND gearset on HNM and MND gearset on normal mobs? Most likely, sure.

Should he of called me gimp without first asking if that was my HNM set, or my Normal Mob gearset? Nope.

Anyway, Pchan do have a resist set as well, just to make things clear, with Duelist's Chapeau+1, Altruistic Cape, enfeeb torque, AF+1 body etc.

I have Torque and Body. Not being mean when I say this..however..if you read up...I do not have AF2 Hat, nor Sea cape Currently. That's a total of +15+5(20) Extra Enfeebling skill he has over me. Same with him and his Salvage gear, which boosts his MND considerably as well over my current AH-able equipment.

I can not put MND+10 on my body gearslot on HNM, due to the fact I need to use AF1 Body to have that extra Enfeebling skill to land. Torque+Body normally lets me land without problems with my merits. I'll occasionally use Nashira Seraweels on things such as Khim as well.

I do not know if Pchan has Nashira Seraweels, but with all his current gears, lets assume he does...

He can -4MND from Cape, add 5 Enfeebling Magic. Wear Morrigains, for +10MND. He lost 4MND on Cape from Prism, to compensate for the -5 Enfeebling he lost on Seraweels. He now can equip +10MND instead of +4MND. Thats extra +6MND advantage. (I do this with Mahatma, just an example again). It's just all about moving your gear around to maximize the effect.

Morrigains has +25MP on the legpiece, as well. Same with feet and +20MP there.

He has alot more MP, because of the simple fact the MND equipment he has, has that much more MP added to it on top of the MND. Gear I have, does not.

If I had AF2 body, I could take the +4MND Headpiece out, put +15 Enfeebling Skill there, and put +10 on the Body. That's 6 more MND than I would have. ^^

I would find it odd for a rdm enfeebling to use errant top vs the AF top. The AF gives skills right to the enfeebling. Will the +10 mind really increase that slow/II duration so much that it would be better?
Depends on the mob you're fighting. If the mob is highly resistant, yes, use AF. If it isn't very resistant, you will get bigger bang for your buck putting MND in the spot. The slow potency (i.e. how much slower the mob hits because of the spell you cast on it) is effected by MND, not enfeebling skill; enfeebling skill just determines whether or not you will see the mob resist message. Same with paralyze; your MND determines the proc rate for whether or not the mob's action is paralyzed.

So before you bitch rdms that don't use mind should have their eyes gouged out, it might help to know what it is the rdm is required to be for the event.

I have, several times. Several several, several times.

As for exp, in most merits you "should" have no time to cast slow/para/blind.

I don't cast Blind in merit. I barely cast Para unless my Slow is down.

When the BRD pulls with elegy and sleeps it, I slow 1 the mob, before it's even touched. It helps the exp go faster, makes it less hassle on the BRD, less shadows taken, less MP used to cure.

Besides most tanks want HASTE over those spells.

I keep Haste on all my melee in merit PT. I even haste my BRDs.

That is of course assuming you have a "main" tank.
TP burn, whoever has most hate tanks. Lol.

In non merit exp parties your complaint would have some value IF the rdm was not the sole mage. Now days most times the RDM is the only mage even in 40+ parties.

I can not say this without sounding mean anymore, but it's been said several times throughout this thread.

This is true, but it was not directed at this grouping of RDMs. It was for career RDMs, who have it at 75, who make the job their main.

RDM can main heal and still use gearswaps for Para and Slow, so that's no excuse. Lower levels it can not be helped at all, there is not enough stuff lower level to be even capable of massive gearswaps or usefulness.

Partially off subject: @75 You can main heal just fine while gearswapping. Using the excuse that "I am main healing" doesn't exclude you from using MND in slow macros.

Its preference for EXP/merits nor is it absolutely 100% needed. I just like good exp without as much hassle, so I gearswap. Some RDM like to cure more, get hate more, and get hit more~I just prefer the first.

Main concern, is using MND swaps on Omega, Ultima, Fafnir, Tiamat, etc. I'll just say it one last time...

If you use -no- MND gear whatsoever, expect slow to work/be effective and fulltime nothing -but- MP equip while casting it, you fail. Period.

I am not saying a mix isn't viable, hence Pchan's Earrings since 1~2MND is miniscale to be worthwhile, so he uses MP+30 and MP+20 Earrings which is fine.

I think most people here get what I mean, and read what I ment from the start. Just some people like to break the threads down and take it off subject, to ridicule the OP instead. I got my MND gear I have access to, with the stuff I do. Do all you?

Just the other day I was fighting a high tier mob, RDM didn't use one piece of MND gear. Astral Earring, AF1 Hat, AF1 Body, 2 Astral Rings, Zenith Slacks, Zenith Mitts. Custom Boots, Loq Earring. Beak Necklace+1. Casting Slow over and over again.

Those are the type of RDM I was talking about. My point is proven. I explained it in more detail reguarding the basis of the RDM population of whom my post was directed to. If people are too blind to understand it now, there is no point in explaining it to people further.
