Two, try not to make a game too much like FF, be a little more creative... FF is obviously the biggest in the RPG Genre out there, so anyone who plays your game would most definitely groan at all the similarities.

I used to play with an engine called RPGMaker2000 and probably could have been more original in most of my design, but I think the end product came out okay, because while there were subtle music re-uses and stuff, the rest of the game really didn't follow any FF trademarks.

Yea, its a very very much upgraded version of RPGMaker2000. Its RPG Maker XP and it allows for so many better things.

Im only using FF as a simple outline if you will.

Spells (Firaga, Blizzara, Thunder, Ultima, Flare, Meteor, Comet, etc.)
Weapons (Ultima Weapon)
Transportation (Chocobos and Airships)
And Characters (Black Mage, Red Mage)

Plus of course, a character named Cid. (NPC).

I am adding a bunch of my own elements to it, so it won't be a wash up remake of any of the old games.

Space: Depends on how large the game actually is. The more crap I add, the larger it becomes. But it won't be anywhere NEAR what most other games take up.

Updates: Only if there are bugs in the "final" release. But since its not an online game, there won't be any expansions.

Someone likes them some Sword of Truth Good thing I do too, its an awesome series... but, Meh. I wouldn't use them in a video game that ff-ish.

I always liked using classic legendary swords for the ultimate weapons. Sure it's rather generic but i always felt better wielding a masamune or excaliber than some made up name (or less famous perhaps). Or "Ultima(te) weapon" lol.

You can only have a party of 4. I could set it higher, but that would crowd up the player side of the screen.

There will be 8 total characters though.

RDM, BLM, WHM, SMN, KNT, DRG (don't say anything) ,RNG, DRK

Those are just the 4 jobs I use when testing the game.

No offense, but the main reason anyone should even upgrade from RPG Maker 2003 to RPG Maker XP is to utilize the advanced map making utilities. I've seen better map skills with RPG Maker 95. You might want to work on that... a lot.

The only real map there is the Throne Room and the Field of warriors. The others were either battle scenes, or quick throw togethers to show what the graphics are like.

The Trial by Ice was a joke and the summon creatures isnt going to be an actual map. It was just a graphical example.
