If you could name the next:

Thank God because I was feeling sorry for that lonely SMN in the BC. He was gonna get so pWnd by Shiva... lol

Heh, its the Odin battle thats gonna be a bitch. Im still debating about how hard to make Alexander too.

I had a few mins to kill so I'm tossing in a few suggestions that just landed in my brain.

Final Fantasy game: FFs' never have names.. just numbers. Only spin offs have names.
Airship:
World: Belion
Main character: Neshya (girl) Pahgne (guy)
5 ultimate weapons (Sword,Staff,Lance,Rod,Dagger): .........
5 limit breaks (RDM,BLM,WHM,WAR,SMN): Hard to name em without knowing what they are.
White Mage: Lynthe
Black Mage: Vormine
Red Mage: Katosa
main bad guy: Kulkarni
main city: Tothsep
final boss: Desha
sub-hero that dies: Nabine
demonic transofrmations:??? What's this????

I do agree with Svina... if it has too many similarities to FF it may get bashed. Even if it just an inspiration like chocobos and stuff. That's probably just me though, but yeah.

Demonic Transformations: A name for a demon form. Like Vincents "Chaos".
I was gonna base the limit breaks off of the names. So it really goes either way. Each character is going to be element specific though.

KNT - Earth
BLM - Darkness
RDM - Fire
DRG - Thunder
WHM - Light
SMN - Water
DRK - Air

Don't worry if these seem odd. It fits the way I have some of their attacks planned.

And really, this is a spinoff I guess. Or a cheap alternative.

you should switch the elements of drk and drg

dragon knights are considered master of aerial attacks and air

dark knights command strong elements and attack

just my opinion though

The only real map there is the Throne Room and the Field of warriors. The others were either battle scenes, or quick throw togethers to show what the graphics are like.

The Trial by Ice was a joke and the summon creatures isnt going to be an actual map. It was just a graphical example.

Not trying to be mean, but all of the maps you have screenshots of look pretty bad. People who haven't used the program probably don't know what I am talking about, and the fact that you're making a game seems cool to them. However, I've seen RMXP and know you could do so much more with those maps. The throne room, for example, is very empty, unorganized, and bland.

couldn't think of anything blah

Final Fantasy game:
airship:
World:
main character:
5 ultimate weapons (Sword,Staff,Lance,Rod,Dagger): Sword: Ultima Weapon Staff: idk Divine Staff? Lance: Fafnir whisker Rod: ...... Dagger: *Sigh*
5 limit breaks (RDM,BLM,WHM,WAR,SMN): Rdm: Eternal Soul: mixture of rdm and blm 2hr from ff11 BLM: blah Whm: D: War: .... Smn: >.>
White Mage:
Black Mage:
Red Mage:
main bad guy:
main city:
final boss:
sub-hero that dies:
demonic transofrmations:

World: Sacred Heart
main character: John Dorian
White Mage: Elliot Reed
Black Mage: Turk
Red Mage: Carla
main bad guy: Janitor
final boss: Gregory House
sub-hero that dies: Bob Kelso
demonic transofrmations: Perry Cox

How come you made Turk the BLACK mage, hmmmm?

I need ideas on what to name some of the stuff in my game. I was never good at coming up with cool/creative names. What would you guys name the following things for the next FF style game?

Final Fantasy game:
airship:
World:
main character:
5 ultimate weapons (Sword,Staff,Lance,Rod,Dagger):
5 limit breaks (RDM,BLM,WHM,WAR,SMN):
White Mage:
Black Mage:
Red Mage:
main bad guy:
main city:
final boss:
sub-hero that dies:
demonic transofrmations:

I'm trying to gather ideas on what seems to be everyone's preference before I start naming the stuff in my game. Any ideas are welcome as long as they could be intelligently placed into an FF style game.

lol bringin it back!

But Seriously...

sub-hero that dies: Rufus Shinra

Yea, its a very very much upgraded version of RPGMaker2000. Its RPG Maker XP and it allows for so many better things.

Im only using FF as a simple outline if you will.

Spells (Firaga, Blizzara, Thunder, Ultima, Flare, Meteor, Comet, etc.)
Weapons (Ultima Weapon)
Transportation (Chocobos and Airships)
And Characters (Black Mage, Red Mage)

Plus of course, a character named Cid. (NPC).

I am adding a bunch of my own elements to it, so it won't be a wash up remake of any of the old games.

Ah yeah I fiddled with that too, but just don't have the drive to design in RPGM again =[, or the time really. I sadly only am good with the programming aspect, and I loved the fact they introduced a free-write scripting language. I think for like a week I tinkered with it and made game sprites about the size of Ragnarok Online's sprite design, and had 8 directional navigation across an isometric field... fun times =]

Edit: Just saw the screenshots, have to admit they look a bit uninspiring and/or epic... I hope you do plan on sprucing them up a bit.

Meh... the main reason I don't touch RPGM anymore is my horrible talent with graphics. I had a lot of customly made edits done by some other people for my last "big" project. If you wanna see what I was blabbering about not having any similarities to mainstream games take a look at my project: "Kindred Saga", though when I made it, I was really just trying to showcase what you can actually do with the game.

Also, if you're any savvy with RPGM2k you can edit your stats in preview mode (if you can manage to find the right variables ;P) and unlock all the spells in the game once the Grafting system is unlocked. Sucks, I had a long story drawn out and was in the process of doing chapter 2 when a virus blew my computer up.

Anyway go here: http://www.gaminggroundzero.com/home.html

On the drop down menu:

Exile
Kindred Saga

Are my two real demos. Exile was an older project and I got bored with it, Kindred Saga is the project that got virus'd in the face.

One thing with KS I'd go back and redo if I could was the opening... it was my biggest mistake, because the only thing people couldn't get off of was the fact that they thought the game was an "FF7 clone", and honestly it was far from it, other than me using the opening theme from it in my opening... but yeah give it a play if you're interested. I think the maps came out well and the battle engine too.

RPG2k was definitely flexible, but a lot of people didn't realize it's potential until a few people released custom battle engines in their games (I was one of like, three on the front of this wave of new genre games in the community). I also designed several other battle engines in the maker, including Tactics style, but making reliable pathing AI in that horrible scripting language was a nuisance. Designed a clone of the 2d Tales series games battle engine also which came out REALLY nice, I loved it a lot but unfortunately in the platform I designed it for, it ran smoothly only on some computers, and the rest it ran unbearably choppy due to the language's shitty image refreshing cycle. Finally I designed a unique combo-based engine where you could chain together the 4 arrow keys to make combo sequences and activate deathblows (ala Xenogears) which also came out really spiffy, and... of course I've lost it somewhere in the void of my computer... I think it died when my old FAT32 died. =[

Anyway, you just kinda reminded me of the good old days when I found making RPGs fun. Good luck with yours!
