if you were a designer for SE....

I like alot of everyones ideas.

But what i really want is a Cowboy hat and a Duster to go with my chaps (Trackers kecks) ^^

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I would add a windowing function to FFXI. Or atleast make Windower legal.

Yes SE is mad that someone got into their system so they ban it, not everyone wants to have FFXI blown up and not be minimized

Best thing they could do is allow multiple job searches at once. This would eliminate a lot of waiting time and allow people to do other tasks on thier main job while still searching.

I really wanted to mention this but somehow forgot to.

It'd be so great to have this.

Linkshells need Airships....

I mean we could have random encounters on it and such it would be cool to have a ls that has its own sort of base.

One ship per linkshell...there would be the keys held by members you could upgrade it and such and battle other airships as well. Ls leader would be able to give keys out. It would incorporate various crafts such as making this wing sturdier with bonecraft skill like fusing armor into the ship to increase its potential. Changing its look would be available as well

There would be special and new zones for airships and stuff, it would be like a mog house, only its for many people you wouldn't be able to get in unless one with keys are in and you must have permission.

If SE creates more areas then the lag should distribute evenly, it can only land on open plains of course, and must be big enough for it to land.

I know it probrably won't be incorporated but it would be awesome to have...but it will probrably be just a dream.

We also need the option of making ls uniforms as well to give distinction, someone would be allowed by the ls leader or him/herself to design them. Of course they would have no stats and stuff just plain lv1 all job armor with 2 def each

Several suggestions.. offhand, probably unpopular ones.

Some of these would balance out the melee dd's out there...

Give War's the ability to tank.... we need more tanks.. not dd's
increase their def, and vit.. and give them more reason's NOT to use nin please...
supposed to be a specialist in all weapons.. not just one handed ones.

-------------------------------------------------------

make thf's trick attack a 41 ability... so not every job could sata... and thieves became something more than a TH pimp post 60...

oh and give them some pt abilities.. maybe add increased gil for whole pt when killing beastmen.. or increase Treasure Hunter II's strength.. give thf's a quicker hide timer too btw.. and flee too..

-------------------------------------------------------

Utsusemi:Ni.. make it a 41 spell or 38.. and increase the number of shadows.. ooor incorporate the san spell around 60. I don't like this suggestion all that much, but it would balance the melee dd's out a bit.. Personally, I'm just tired of seeing everyone throwing /nin at everything...

Give Ninja their own type of magic attack bonus, and increase the offensive damage of their spells.. make these bonuses 38, 55, and 70...

I'd personally love to see ninja's 2hr changed... maybe one where they can "disappear" to an already engaged mob.. and do their own version of a SATA... that'd be nice..

also.. I think tools should be sold by the Tenshodo.. at a slightly elevated price... kinda puts a cap on the sometimes overpriced ninja tools.

-------------------------------------------------------

give RDM's more melee bonuses, and a higher tier raise...
included with the already commonly rarely used en-spells..
how about being able to cast en-XXXX on another pt member..
add enfire to the tank to help him hold hate...

-------------------------------------------------------

reduce the cost of leaving Avatar's out dramaticallly.. ooor.. reduce the cost as it sits out.. starts of as 4mp per tick.. after 3 sec.. 3mp per tick.. and stays at 2... til 1 full minute.. drops to 1.. and stays..

How about Summoners having free cost spells when they have the avatar in their possession.. not out mind you.. just have the avatar .. ie.. after you get Fenrir.. lvl 50 mp-free-spell to give pt a slight accuracy / evasion bonus.. put these spells on loong timers of course..
make the spells scrolls that are quested via NPC trek to ???, and return.. make em R/E...

make smn skill ups more frequent, and maybe make the cost/str/cool-down/etc. dependant on skill...
make their darn elemental spells.. stronger.

I think it's kinda weird.. (remember I'm a blm main) that I out-nuke Shiva with blizzard IV.. She's supposed to be the Ice-Queen or something.. c'mon.. a mortal outnuking the Ice - goddess?
that doesn't strike you all funny?

-------------------------------------------------------
Give Dragoon wyvern's their own armor.. not multiple pieces.. a back piece or a charm.. something...
if we can equip a puppet with crap.. why can't we do the same for our lil flying blue buddies?

Give the dragoon an ability to call on a wyvern to give the party an evasion bonus.. or have the wyvern have abilities on a timer, that the dragoon could call on.. a stun maybe.... give the flying rat's a stun ability with a cool down... that'd rock.. watch lil blue mini-dragon slam into a mob..

I'd like to see Dragoons have more abilities in their wyverns, and more control over them.. I'd LOVE to send my "George" to go attack something without me... that may be asking too much.

-------------------------------------------------------

I think monks are fine.. would be nice to see the pt healing ability or mp up ability though. ^^
a specific "kick" ability would be cool though..
/ja "Chuck Norris Roundhouse" <bt>
/em watches the <bt>'s head fly off....

j/k .. but seriously.. give monk's a "kick" attack like dragoons have jump...

-------------------------------------------------------

How about we lower the timer on unlimited shot for rangers... and give them a lil more melee damage..
what about an ability to mislead a mob when pulling.. to give themselves more time to get to camp..
some specific shot abilities would be nice too.. like a dex down shot.. or str down shot or vit down shot... not absorb.. but a temporary debuff...

oh btw.. I think rangers should have TH 1 as a job ability as well.. maybe only in wooded areas, or something.. but something like that.

-------------------------------------------------------

Give drk's a lil more def.. and fast cast at 38 or 41.. they're melee but they're part blm too.. they should cast faster than a blm.. how about a fast cast for drk at 38, and magic attack for them at 41?
give them tier II nukes a lvl or two after blm's learn them... make the absorb spells more noticeable..

-------------------------------------------------------

add a latent effect for samurai around 30 that makes skillchains "more effective".. along with giving the opportunity for magic bursts to have an additional effect.. maybe add a paralyze effect to an ice burst on distortion. and around 41, have them learn an ability to control other pt member's tp.. ie.. prevent all pt members from burning more than 100% tp on a ws.. wouldn't it be nice to have the whole pt do 2 sc's back to back every now and then .. that would be godly.

samurai
/ja "Tp hold-back"

pt member 1 and 2 do distortion chain
wait a few seconds hit the mob once or twice
pt member 1 and 2 do distortion chain again..

remember they'd have to build 200% tp to achieve this.. but still two sc's from same members back to back.. and 2 mb's from me!?.. wow...

-------------------------------------------------------

Paladins are powerhouses.. literal tanks... give them another more frequent shield use.. and up their vit a hair.. They're supposed to be the good guys, and the tough bastards to boot.. blink tanks have an unfair advantage against them.. give them an ability similar to stoneskin.. put it on a timer..

how about an additiona effect that can act as a milder provoke... maybe an audible that stuns the enemy and provokes at once... sounds good on paper.

-------------------------------------------------------

give brd some offensive song ability. so they can participate in magic bursts.. and how about a job ability that will allow them to make a few of the their songs work on an alliance, and not just a party... c'mon those other pt's are our friends too.... that would be awesome in Besieged.

-------------------------------------------------------

give bsts' party up abilities... exp up abilities like corsair.. maybe an aoe pt def bonus against mobtype kinda spells learned at various stages.
reminder: jug pets don't affect exp.

-------------------------------------------------------

NPC's ... fellowship NPC's.. I want to be able to erase/refresh/etc them as if they're a pt member.. they take up a slot in my pt.. why can't I treat them as such?
-------------------------------------------------------

Add a male Mithran, and let's have something distinguish between the sexes as well as races.. maybe give all females an additional dex point, and all males an additional str point.
(all races cept Galka of course)

-------------------------------------------------------

create a separate zone for a "floating city" as a centralized AH that ties in to each city.. and zone.. make it somewhat easily accessible from each city.. including Selbina and Mhuara (sp?)..
Following that.. make each AH in each area independant.. I mean it..
Bastok Markets is just Bastok Markets.
Windy Woods is just windy woods..
lower levels would sell to each other at this point, and anyone higher up to get access to the "floating AH city" could access all materials from all AH's...
crystals gathered by lower lvl players and gear for that city would be sold in that city...
and the "headquarters AH" floating around would access everything at once.. no more price fighting, and a more stabilized economy...

Limit the no. of people allowed per floor of said AH city.. elevator can't stop on this floor.. it's full.. next floor.. etc.. (remember entire city is a giant auction house with a mog house)... This alone IMO would kill lag..

for simplicity make the first floor the bazaar floor... make it duty free.. get all the battalia downs people in there... the "go to" place for high end items... or mannequin pieces, or whatever.

no reason to hang out in Battalia downs, or Lower Jeuno ... except for gathering, or whatever..

also would make the AH's more specific.. quest items would be found in the AH in THAT zone.. It just makes sense to me.

access to this area can be given by a simple quest in any of the starting 3 cities.. and since it's a floating city.. cannot connect to any zones... and is a simple 3 city, add aht urhgan city, warp there... and upon entry can only exit to where you came from... give a r/e item upon dropping returns you to the mog house of city you came from... (like dynamis hourglass)

this IMO would eliminate alot of the lag.. and create a central place to bazaar and sell/purchase.. might as well dedicate one floor just to crafting.. have all the guilds represented on one floor with an AH rep by their side... I may be dreaming.. but once again.. sounds good on paper.

-------------------------------------------------------

I'd love to see quests to change hair color, face model, height, etc...
to this day I wish I'd picked green hair... /sigh
c'mon.. I'm yoda, I gotta have something green! ( I hastily chose blonde, and have no idea why)

-------------------------------------------------------
One last one that I've been tossing around...

All these endgame, hard to get, gilseller camped, dropped items..

make them available as r/e bought items from guilds using exorbant amount of guild points.... i.e. 300,000 gp buys you a r/e version of "whatever" so a high lvl crafter can have one "free" mat to craft a SH, Noble's Tunic, Byrnie, Haubie, Weskit, whatever....

items that can be distributed this way need to have an exceptionally high guild point price.. something that would take a great deal of crafting to achieve... maybe only a "veteran" could even spend his points for these items.. and make the items limited in quanity.. and frequency.. random weeks they "happen" to have one... month later they "happen" to have two damascene cloths.. remember these are r/e....

My main concern has been thf lately, that job definitely needs something...and I have a few ideas.

1. +5% Attack bonus when attacking a mob from behind, gained at level 60.
2. Increase the damage of ALL daggers by about 10% without changing the delay.
3. Meriting SA and TA should reduce the "recast" by 4 seconds, not the 2 seconds currently offered. 10,000xp to reduce the recast by 2 seconds, then you have to merit each one separately, AND it's in the same category as Triple Attack... that's just insulting.
4. Dagger should be an A+ weapon skill for THF.
5. Make Shark Bite a single hit WS, like Spinning Slash, or Tachi: Kasha or any of the other WS's that leave actual THF's in the dust.

Choose any 4 out of the above 5, and you've gone a long way to balancing out that job.

I'm acutely aware that if a THF actually gets hate then he is unable to use his most important abilities: SATA. But c'mon, THF isn't even close to stealing hate from the other melee currently. Pre-TA, THF can pull signifcant hate. Sure, get a triple attack and 1 or 2 critical hits just as the mob gets to camp, and you're tanking as THF for about 5 seconds, but that's about it.

need a LS hideout for each linkshell. I dont know how it would work but it would be cool to have it. It would have like AH linked to jeuno, and a nomad moogle. Maybe a colliseum area where u could get a list of monsters and their level and place a wager of exp or money. This might be hard because a wait of people, so have the zone huge and many parts of the zone dedicated to the fighting.

someones idea sounded like a linkshell war. sounds cool, could have a leaderboard type thing and get points for every win. you could challenge the ls leader to a match and stuff. You can win money or super special rare equip

nevermind someone already kinda said my idea. >.<

If job balancing is part of the discussion, my only concern is that ninja, white mage, warrior and thief give away too much of their best goods as subjobs. This shouldn't be. I think many jobs, and these jobs in particular, need their abilities spread out more evenly through the levels. I hate to say it, but sometimes I think SE designed these four jobs specifically to be subjobs.

Would like to see PLDs have a higher Def heck come on a drk can hit oer 800 attack but i have not seen a plds def over 780 we should have a way to hit 1000 def that would get us alot more invites, a blink tank or a tank that akes damage but just one cure3 from them self and they are good again for 5mins
Thfs at 60 get assian and they should stop SATA but just SA then TA on there WS any way so nothing wrong there.

new ks99 ideas is cool.. king abj drops in multiple places isnt. i mean, thats what makes them so rare and highly sought after right? i really dislike gear that everyone has, makes the game so unoriginal :(

On that note, my biggest problem with the game is gear, availability of it, and the aquisition. Allow me to elaberate:

1st off, why is a piece of gear "Highly Sought after"? Cause it's good for your job? Sometimes. Cause it makes people /drool over your gear? I'd say 99% of the time, thats #1, cause we all like to be better than the next guy, it's human nature. Cause that gear shows that you've accomplished something? That you left your mark, and maybe your Exp, somewhere on a hill in a zone somewhere?

These last two are why I collect the gear I do. And I don't think those of us that collect gear for these reasons have enough of a chance to do so. How can I say that? Cause half the shit that I want, requires me to have tons of friends, no job, and shitloads of gil, on a consistant long term basis. Imo, this is bullshit, but bearable. There is an answer that they can implement.

Imagine this, I'll use some real common endgame items that have lost their luster of the past few years: Op Hat; 12-18 Man fight vs a decent NM after collecting/Buying fairly high market value items, and having some person, most likey a stranger, craft the pop item. Sounds pretty involved right? Well it used to be, bot so much anymore as people have pushed past that item being as rare as it used to be, it's almost standard issue. Which I like. But I would propose a twist. Another version. Equal or compairable stats, diff image, diff pop, diff, type, diff mob, but most importantly, still R/ex.

That was only one example. Put simply, I would make 85% or more of the "End Game" gear available on a smaller scale, maybe slightly gimpped down, that say, a Pt of 6 Lv 70's could take. As helpful as an Ophat? Nope, but a much more resonable aquisition for someone that say, have 2 years under them and only Lv 70, cause they have a RL? Hell yes!

I guess to sum that all up, I would TRIPLE the ammount of gear available. Not adding new gimp-ass craft stuff with no real desire, but alternatives, on a scaled down version of the item, and the requirements to get said item. Fuck spawn NMs. Fuck CC fuck-fuck games with LS's, Fuck weather NM's, gimmie a pop item, an NM, and a reward thats chalanging, yet atainable by all my friends who come to me, concerned that they can't afford a Verrmy, or SH and ask for help. Idk, Gimmie a Lv 65 Cloak, slightly lower Def, MP+2%, Latenet: 50%mp or lower, adds refresh. As nice as Vermmy? Nah, but it still a good option for someone who wants it to help the goal of making them more of an asset to whatever their cause may be. THat makes happy players. Not the farming Bee chips for 6 months to get a SH (Trust me it almost made me quit).

I'm simply saying this would add Depth to the apperance of the game, give people choices, give a benifit to the leetists that want their leet gear, but allow the others to have some fun too. This would subsequently lower prices all accross the server, which SE LOOKS like they've been trying to do.

I think alot of good would come from it. Happy players, better quiped players with respect to their skill, not their fat, hotpocket eatting arses with no job, and no life, and mommy and daddies Credit Card. Yeah, you know their out there.

Nuff said, thats what I would do, don't like it? Go back to farming/crafting/drooling over some Jp's gear and wishing you could have that much time to waste/and watching the AH prices go up and your pockets go down :)

As always, I'm open for in-game discussions, please gimmie a tell! ^-^ See ya!

1: A built in web browser and MP3 player so people don't need to use any windower. That's the main reasons people use the windower that I know of.

2: Impliment tetra master with FFXI so it can be played in game. I was always upset that I couldn't play TM while doing hours of waiting in FFXI.

3: Certain quests and missions, even with the ultimate plans, can only be won with luck. These quests and missions need to be eased up a tad bit.

4: The economy should not be as player controlled as it is. It's obvious that 10 year olds can't properly handle a game's economy. I'll give examples in further ideas.

5: There should be ways for ANYONE to make enough money to progress in the game reguardless of how many friends they have. It's nearly impossible to have a garunteed large amount of income through hard work while alone.

6: BCNM, KSNMS, Dynamis, etc should be a real instance system so any amount of groups can do them all at once.

7: There should be an expansion that has more of a cyberpunk feel similar to FF7 and FF8. I'm not sure how it would fit in but it would be cool.

8: Nearly all non rare/ex items should be avalible for purchase at some kind of vendor. Perhaps making it challenging to get to the vendors would be cool as well. This would balance the economy a bit.

9: Make any major items obtained from NMs and HNMs impossible to obtain more than one within a certain amount of time. Things that pop every 2~ hours should only drop item once every few days per person. Things that pop once every day-week should only drop item once every week-month per person.

10: um...

I have crap loads of ideas but I'll leave it at those for now.

Don't feel like talking about anything else at the moment but I will comment on this -

This measure would not balance the economy, it would set the economy to a grinding halt, as all prices would then be fixed. Why bother paying any more for a Scorpion Harness if you can just run to the vendor (however that ends up being achieved)? It would also drive the supply way up. Not only that, but crafting would be killed off 100%.

End game, and it's subsequent gear, is meant to be a massive time sink. It's meant to keep you playing the game for months to get that gear. If you could crank out full kaiser gear, or full god gear in under a month, no one would play far past that point, because there wouldn't be anything left to do. This is the only change that I'd really be against, because it takes all sense of accomplishment out of the game. At the point that it is readily available and so easily attainable, it becomes standard and players become "gimp" for not having it; and I doubt people want more of that. It'll stop being "wow, you have an XXX" and start being "where the hell is your XXX, noob?"

I do like the idea of making gear with slightly lower stats on it though, if only to let people LOOK different. It's boring that every monk with an osode wears it 99% of the time(chakra is the only exception), same with nin. Before osode they all wear scorpion harness, that war/sam/drk all wear hauby/hauberks. I'd like for people to at least look a little different, even a palette swap would be nice, I'd just like a little more variety in how players look.

Although SE has already implemented gear along those lines with Aht Uhrgan. The Jaridah Peti is a toned-down scorpion harness, for 10% of the price of a scorpion harness; it's an easily affordable alternative for those without 6 million to shell out for a piece of gear. The Sipahi Jawashan is a cheaper alternative to a Hauby, not as good but certainly a viable alternative for those who can't afford the Haubergeon.

SE is clearly adding more gear options for people with different economic standing, as Baj pointed out.. they're just doing it rather slowly - it seems like they're watching which pieces are the kind that need cheaper versions. SH and Hauby had become clear choices.

I wonder what'll be next...

correct me if I'm wrong.. but monks can't wear the Jaridah Peti ...

Monks already have a half-SH... and theirs is, incidentally, free of charge.
