if you were a designer for SE....

I would finally put in the god **** sheiths and capes/mantels to show on your char. Seriously how bad ass would we look with capes as melee or mages. Cmon SE thats just somethin you gata have.

Actually...there is a practical reason for that, remember FF Spirits Within? Notice how that only the main character(woman) was the only one with long hair. Everyone else was bald or had short hair. SE said that the hardest part of making the movie was making the hair flow right with the wind, her moving out of her face, etc.

Now you might be thinking it has nothing to do with capes and such, but imagine Se putting time into making them all flow so well with the wind and such or turning your char and it follow perfectly, which is hard to do in a regular offline game. And you have several different races so making separate models for each that wear a cape or mantel would take extra time

Now take this addition and multiply it by all of the servers and the several hundered thousand people each on there and consider the fact that the servers are in Japan.

Think how laggy that would be, if i had to guess everywhere would be like the jueno lag.

That is my guess why it didn't make it into the game

That, and I would just spend all my time riding chocobos and taking screenshots of my cape flying behind me.

Then, it would have a cautionary note:

"Users who have ADD, or any other mental issue: Please do not use these pwnage mantles, for it will interupt your chocobo experience. Thank you."

Incorrect.

It would just be a tacked on model and texture that follow your characters animation set, like weapons do.

It has nothing to do with being free flowing. Free flowing anything in an MMO is nearly impossible to do because of hardware limitations.

Rainbow's are for watching, not wearing!

I'd make it so pets didn't despawn after they were released.

And I'd make a decent bst solo/duo merit spot in the new zones.

To compound on what I said about capes: DAoC and WoW have capes, and they aren't really a hinderance, hardware-wise.

If the current situation is any indication, only Elvaan capes would flow. SE went crazy with Elvaan animations - always over the top - robes flapping all over the place during spell casting, etc.

you said it before I could.

the capes in WoW are pretty cool, and they dont slow down game-speed at all.

free-flowing anything isnt in MMOs really yet..we havent reached those kinds of cool things yet in ffxi haha

Although...I cant imagine an ffxi with capes...it may really suck? who knows

It's probably already been said, but the issue I beleive with capes isn't so much that the game itself couldn't handle it on PC, but the limitations of the PS2 prevent it from happening. No offense to ps2 users of course.

Lecan owns at naming new abilities.

As far as I can see, a lot of jobs don't need any change. They're getting 'optimizations' in the near future just so they don't feel left out.

Bst rocks.
>>>no despawning pets would be nice.<<<
Pld tanks, hell I still prefer them to nin; always have, always will for xp situations.
•ew never
Brd, see rdm.
•aoe sneak/invis maybe? - savage blade
Cor, while my experience with them is also limited, is just awesome. Excellent addition to the game and great to see something compete with brd.
•brd has no competition

I havent read this thread since page 5 though, not enough free time here. Sorry if I rehashed old posts.

edited for truth

gdamn ps2 users ruin everything! wouldnt it be easier for them to make a PC graphics hotfix and leave ps2 the way it is forever, so we wouldnthave to worry about making the damn game work for their inferior system everytime we try to suggest new things

Actually, I've wondered that myself for quite some time. I can't imagine it would be overly difficult for SE to release a graphics package for PC that PS2 users can't download, that updates the textures/interface/armor models in the game. Those things only effect the look of the game, not how it is played, and thus there wouldn't be any issue with PS2 users being at a fundamental disadvantage when playing the game.

For PC users at least, this would mean that every armor in the game would look different, instead of reusing the same models and textures. The same could be said for different mobs. Perhaps the UI could be updated as well to be able to be moved around or be more customizable (such as it is in many other MMO's). We would also see things such as free flowing capes and other peices of armor (Ie: the movement of clothing when casting spells wouldn't be limited to only certain spots on armor, but the armor as a whole would fluctuate realistically, so to speak, as the wind flows around you when casting spells).

I honestly don't understand why SE doesn't do it. I doubt PS2 users would quit the game over something that is purely cosmetic, if anything it just might cause them to go out and get the PC version (Thus making SE more money from people buying PC copies of the game).

I guess we are once again forgetting that SE is just a bunch of 7yr old mentally challanged half-hungarian baby-eaters.

I have one thing to add about Monk now that I've been thinking about it for a while. Allow us to equip two hand weapons okay geez. Every other job benefits from the subweapon in some form except us, allowing two hand weapons by default would be sweet. Subbing Shiva's Claws would be cool for the Accuracy Boost and occasional paralysis.

You mean as in one hand Shiva Claw and the other an Avenger?

That be pretty good, not sure if SE would make it to where you can buy of the same two h2h weapons hopefully not. Prices would double >.>

With the exception of cross-counters, there aren't any expensive hand-to-hand weapons that are worth getting. Although the downside of that change is that it will unbreak destroyers.

Well for starters:

-Make Utsusemi create replicas on your screen. Everytime you take a hit, it depops.

-Paladins can deal damage as they fight. Give the meat shield a gun damnit.

-Red Mages get Hastega

-Summoners get offensive capabilites and a higher dagger cap.

-DRK scythe and great sword caps are the same all the way through 75. Both A weapons.

Chocobos can enter certain areas. (Raggaumont Pass, Qufim Island,) to make camping easier.

Make subjobs a REQUIRMENT to pick out obvious RMT. (If they are running around as a BLM50/RDM1 you know.)

Give thf a job trait that increases TP gained by striking an enemy. Kind of like a reverse Subtle Blow.

More to come....
