This is your friendly neighborhood affiliate manager, xxxxx xxxxxx. I wanted to give everyone a heads up and let you know that we are currently running low on inventory for World of Warcraft and FFXI on some servers.

Please check back often to see if this affects any servers that you are promoting.

As always, feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
For those of you who have no issues selling currency, this may be your hour.

In other news today, Bill Gates has beaten out as the world's richest man when a player of an online video game sold mass amounts of virtual currency to a site that deals in such things.

*1 week later*

Video game company Square-Enix has filed a lawsuit against the world's richest man, claiming that the money is rightfully theirs.

Nope, I don't work for them, I am still an IGE affiliate though from when I had the ads here on QCDN, that's how I got the email.

Gil selling and buying is a divided issue, but since there clearly are players who do the selling, it was worth poiting out that if they were thinking about selling their surplus, now may not be a bad time as the high demand hopefully raised what IGE is paying for gil.

I don't really know what they were paying before, and I haven't checked what they are paying now, so I couldn't compare the two. But it's at least conceivable that they are paying more for it than they used to. You certainly don't get as much cash for your gil compared to trying to ebay it yourself, but you also don't have to worry about chargebacks and such.

If you can live with the fact that IGE buys your gil at 1/3 (or somewhere close to that) of what they sell it for , then selling to IGE is not a bad choice.

he's pushed it so far its come right back out the top. He's working on the second run.

Shit, we could play gil like the fucking stock market. Buy out millions upon millions during Christmas sales, wait a month and a half, sell it back at severely increased rate!

Actually, prior to all these shortages they offered $30 for 5M. Now it is $27.5 for 5M. So they are manipulating their earning by charging more, and paying less.

I say let the damn chinese keep selling their hearts out. Apparently some of them have moved on =\ Quetz - put your credit card away.:nono:

Fine, I'll agree to not use a cliche like "head up the ass" if you agree to not post retarded bullshit all the time.

It's too bad no message boards tolerate gil/account selling over their boards. If I ever quit I doubt it'd be worth what IGE would pay me but probably worth it what a buyer direct would pay. =p

It's mainly a liability issue. While virtual currency sellers know the pertaining laws inside and out, and know how to stay out of jurisdictions or word their terms of service so that no one can get ot them, people like me would have to hire a lawyer and pay big bucks to make it so that I don't get sued.

What if the lawyer sucked and SE did find a way to sue after all, as of now QCDN is a hobby owned by me, thus they would have someone to go after, while places like IGE are LLCs and even if they do bust them they are only out 50k and move on under a different name.

I have been thinking to convert QCDN to a LLC just for liability purposes, but haven't found the time yet. Though I will probably do that before too long.

The former Yantis outfit does allow currency and character sales from player to player though, it's called playerauctions, google for it.

So, does this translate into increased gil seller activity on our server? Or is it a sign of less activity? That's what I want to know.

Well, the way I see it this gradual increase in the currency price has always been planned.

First, pull in customers by mass, by selling them currency at ridiculously low prices.

Dump the currency all over the place so it becomes an semi accepted norm of the community. ie"the currency is so cheap you're stupid not to buy them and put in the hours farming the currency" "everyone's doing it, they just don't want to admit it...the price is so cheap, everyone HAS to be doing it"

Second, once you get the mass hooked onto buying currency, gradually raise the price back up. Gradual increase is the key, because taking the time will ensure that it builds anexiety.

So what happens? people "buy up the currency before it goes even higher"

Its the same exact strategy that coke pushers use when they enter a territory that is previously uninhibited by cocaine.
