I think internet dating with no possiblity of meeting the other person in real life can be summed in one word: pathetisad.

No one said that...

The only people that find me attractive are online and live 500+ miles away...

I think I must have the T-Virus or something.

A friend on mine on Lakshmi did it, he was banned for sexual harrassment.
Proof that all GMs are prudes/frigid/married/unforgiving AIs/illusions.

I just wanna see a GM in a wedding dress with that beefy helmet on. *opens the model viewer*

I met my husband online. Not though a dating site, not though a game, but through mutal friends. Talked to one person for years over the net, one day they tell me to message on of their friends for kicks. We ended up talking to each other every day either on aim or the phone. He lived in Michigan, me in Texas. He eventually moved down here and moved in with me. We've been together 4 years, Married for 1. Its just one of those things that you dont really plan on, but you do get very attached to some people.

Dude, take my approach. Go out to the nearest Bar. From there, find the drunkest chick that likes small penis' and BAM you're all set. Works for me every time. Here's your positives:

1) She's drunk, and she'll be lucky not to remember
2) She likes small dicks, and well... she better.
3) If she pukes, I can blame it on the alcohol and not my appearance.
4) Three words my friend: Ass-to-Mouth (I love clerks 2)
5) If she's unsatisfied, oh well. She'll pass out soon, and that's when it's "game time"

That's just to name a few. I know, I know. How can I come up with such a viable solution to this problem? The moral of the approach: It's all about the close. Forget the product, forget the long term problem. You know what you want, now take it. If not, forget it.

FFXI is the bar for some people. Let them have their bar; you go find yours.

Dating not really, but I have met a lot of very nice people in this addictive online game, I've formed good friendships with a few people I'll probably never meet in real life. And although you never can tell really who you're communicating with, its fortunately quite easy to look past the digital image you see in the game and find a nice person to chat to. Nice people are still nice people no matter what skin they wear within in the game.

I found this to be quite hillarious, good job...

Nocturnus and I will have been together for 3 years in January.

We met on the game and started traveling back and forth to visit shortly thereafter, (he lives in Virginia and I live in Colorado). I've NEVER had a problem getting a date outside of online and used to think "online dating" was ridiculous (for me). I never ever thought I'd fall in love with someone like that, but surprise, surprise...

You can't pick who you fall in love with or where you fall in love with them...

Anything is possible. ^^

When you say internet dating, it seems implied. If you know each other IRL, it's not internet dating anymore.

I get it. I know why people look for a mate on the internet, and it is indeed, "Pathetisad". But that's my opinion.

A friend in game is someone you hang out with a lot, do quests, missions, maybe duo some xp.

A girl/boy friend in game is someone you hang out with a lot, do quests, missions, maybe duo some xp. Then they get jealous when you do something with other friends.

It's all about the drama. Some people love it, even thrive on it. They can't live without it in their life so they incorporate it into FF, which has become their life. I don't.

Internet dating is not for me. I give less than a fuck what the rest of you do though, so go, have fun, rub one off if you like. Just leave me out of it.

lol at trippy.
i agree with meeze's reply from earlier.
also, i have seen at least 3 marriages in RL get torn and seperated from this game because of in game relations with other players. the time dedicated in game is fine but if that time neglects the people you are obligated to in RL thats where the problems start. then it snowballs to the point of finding a safe haven in someone else, particularly that game bf/gf you look forward to seeing when u log in. then the RL issues just get neglected all together.
have fun, get married in game. if you are single, fine have even more fun. but if you are married or obligated in the first place and you seek an in game relationship then there must have been problems beforehand to begin with that need to be fixed and payed attention to.

P.S. manthra /no thanks. blonde female tarutaru with pigtails /yes please. haha

The Internet has become a HUGE part of our society in general. We now do our shopping from the comfort of our own home. We can sample music, interact with people across the world, and so many other things that previous generations just couldn't do. As we do more and more things on the internet, looking for love just seems like a natural progression. Naturally it isn't for everyone, but this is still a rapidly evolving technology in general that has fascinated a whole generation. To the people who say "lolonlinedating" but still spend 4-5 hours a day on the internet, you really need to start looking in the mirror and realizing that you're just addicted to this technology as the ones who use it for seeking romance, just in a different manner.

And honestly, "love" is such a weird thing that it just hits people in different ways. Just be glad that you're lucky enough to live in a world where for the most part people are allowed to love, rather than just being thrown together to procreate and keep bloodlines and power intact. :) If someone wants to hook up online, that's their right and you really have no reason to try to dissuade them. It's just the "21 century" way to do things.

The internet, not homosexuals, is the real cause of the downfall of the sanctimony of marriage obviously.

from my point of view (being one that met their better half on the net) you really cant "date" someone that you never actually see in person... you just can't. Now, physcially seeing someone from time to time (i.e. traveling just to see that person) is just like any long distance relationship. But actually saying, "this is my boyfriend / girlfriend" yet never have laid eyes on said person is being a little far fetched. I never committed myself to my would-be husband at the time until he moved down here. Its just not heathly, imo.
