Well....*points to topic* i've quit the game twice due to this but am back once again. I've finally almost gotten all the equip/items I once had before quitting.

But jeez......it sucks so much when the woman you love hates FFXI just as much as you love it. If I quit, its good for her bad for me. If I play as much as I want, its good for me bad for her. So we have to do plenty of compromsing. Right now I we have it to where I play 5 hours straight one day, next day I dont play at all, the day after that I play 5hrs straight again.

I cant even come close to explaning how much she hates the game and believe me...i've tried everything to change her mind.

The Navy.......i'll be going out to sea for 6 months in April so....no FFXI for 6months. Sucks so much....gyah. But once I get back hopefully most of my friends will still be there.

Ultimatly, I was just wondering if anyone was in the same boat as I am?
 
I know a guy who is in the.... navy I think. I can't remember. He's currently serving in the states. He went missing for a while and then explained he was at the boot camp. He seems to play very often. However, i'm not sure if he has a girlfriend.

Good thing the girl I want to be with also plays and loves the game as much as me..

I know how it is though, my mom hates when my stepdad plays his games..
 
Broke up with my g/f of over a year and half just because I felt at the time that FFXI was more important....Biggest mistake I've ever made.... I travelled through central america with her and done all kinds of incredible things... I'll probably never find another girl like her and she now wants nothing to do with me. Sure it was great playing 24/7 for the 2 weeks or so I had off from school and lvl rng to 60 from 30 in that time but now i'm almost too depressed to even play the game I dumped my g/f for... Anyways just wanted to say don't do what I did!
 
Considering this a forum dedicated to a video game, and quite a few of its regulars are minors, that sig is inappropriate.

Dont get me wrong, I have nothing against tatoos and titties, just not here.

Dont worry, I dont plan on leaving her ever. Its just too bad shes not a gamer like I am but oh well.....i love her no matter what ^^

Its just a pain cause on top of that I'm a DRG so leveling can be quite slow. I must say though, in the past week and a half I have making some pretty good progress going from lvl 52 to lvl 55. I've been having to make my own ptys but those ptys have been SPECTACULAR....oh man, my heart goes out to all those who have pty'd with me this past two weeks.
 
I hear ya man. My girlfriend hates the fact that I play this game. She always yells at me when we're on the phone and I'm playing... since I tend to become distracted and ignore her. =/

The worst time was one day over Christmas break when I swore it was a Wednesday. I was like "Sweet! I don't have to do anything tonight and I can't hang out with my g/f(she still has school) so I can play FFXI all night!" With that mindset I went and joined a BCNM 40 party. I got there and as we were waiting for last member to show I get a phone call... from my girlfriend....

Turns out it was actually Friday, and I had just completely lost track of the days. She was on her way over, and I was screwed. So I ended up doing 1 run and having to apologize profusely for leaving... but luckily they were LS members and had a backup.

She got pretty pissed that I woulnd't just get off the game with no explanation to my party members... and give up my chance at good gil. It's kind of dumb that she won't even try to understand that the game has any importance... but whatever. We had a small fight... but moved on. She does play video games... but usually will only play it if she likes it and gives up prettty easily if she doesn't absolutely love the game.(i.e played FFX like 3 times yet won't try any other FF... said IX was too hard? wtf?)

Long story short, I know where you're coming from man. :roll:
 
Yeah, those are my uh..... RL girlfrienfds?..... I wish :P Nah they're the Suicide Girls.... Editing my sig now to make it as PG-13 as i can....

About ur situation, She should let you play alot ; ; My woman is nice enough to let me play alot and she plays almost as much as me if not more O_O

But you're gonna be gone for like 6months....so i can see where she's coming from to get to spend time with you as much as she can b4 u go y'know?
 
I've heard of tons of married couples that have issues with games. Not only FFXI, and not only wifes. People that don't like gaming, or the particular game someone is playing become jealous of it. They don't understand why you could possibly want to spend time playing a game that you could spend with them.

I know when my daughter was born I spent WAY too much time on battle net, and I'm still paying for that to this day. Now I only play after my daughter goes to sleep, and my wife gets on the net to surf.

That does limit my ability to get good parties. Late night members drop like flies, and we spend more time seaking then we do pulling, but it is worth not having to hear her bitch at me.

A happy wife is a happy life.
