India

That's your opinion. I'm a Christian and I don't believe taking away religion would do anything. Just being religious doesn't make you a terrorist by default.

I'm waiting for Christian's to take the 10 commandments too literally and start "punishing" those who don't worship the christian god.

This made me laugh. A. Christians weren't involved in what the OP is about. And B. That is not what the Crusades were all about. Go back to grade 9 Social Studies.

For those who truly believe I hope they go through life with as little difficulties. It's fine to believe in something that provides hope and joy in your life, a form of guidance. Not to be forced on others, but to just smile and keep to yourself if others don't wish to embrace it in their lives.

I don't see that, I have NEVER seen that. I felt my heart sink when I read the coverage on the attacks. The picture on the front page, floors covered in blood, kids shoes and belongings strewn across the floor. This is not sharing hope, nor joy.. nor the belief that something greater awaits us as our God, not yours, or mine.. but ours is forgiving and will embrace us ALL.

People will not change, I'm sorry to say, we all know that. For those who feel it will change, you're naive, and gullible, in denial and blinded by who knows what.

I maybe pessimistic, at the same time I'm an idealist.. AND I'm realistic.. nah.. that doesn't make sense.. but it's the way it is, isn't it?

A. I'm well aware christianity wasn't what the OP was about. I was merely stating a thought of mine.

B. Then educate me. What were the Crusades ALL about?

I just think it's rather naive for people to think that getting rid of religion will make all of the worlds problems disappear. This is a societal problem, a cultural problem. You take away the reason they claim to do this, they will only come up with another one.

I'm not going to spend time while I'm at work educating you on something that your educational system should have. Yes, the Crusades were done in "Gods" name, just like many other acts of terrorism are done in a "gods" name or in a religions name. It is also about oppression and dominance over other cultures/races/societies.

I agree.

"I plead temporary insanity"

They will always find/have a reason.

I think religion as it stands has been and STILL is used for justification as well as a scapegoat for such horrific crimes against humanity.

Well there's more problems and sources of conflict than religion. I guess removing religion from the equation won't resolve all the problems, but it'd help.

I was being sarcastic. I also never said that's what they were all about.

To stop the expansion of the Turks wasn't their real reason. They believed they had the right to control Jerusalem. Christianity is no better than other religions when it comes to killing innocents in the name of god.

The crusades/crusaders were extreme fanatic sects of the roman catholic church, the same people who handled the spanish inquisition, blood mary, etc

As far as how they dealt with people and handled their business it was probably worse than modern day terrorism, as they singled people out and did all kinds of terrible things to them.

I don't like to associate these people with christianity, just like most muslims don't like to associate terrorists with their religion.

There's fanatics everywhere, the bigger the group, the more of them there are.

No where did anyone say that terrorism is ok by any means.

Exactly.

And this came out on Thanksgiving of all days :(

Remember, Thanksgiving is our hoilday at Nov27, Canada i think is like a month earlier, India may not have Thanksgiving like us and highly doubt the same time as USA if they do.

There were a lot of Westerners there though is what I believe Cheebs meant (she knows when the Canadian Thanksgiving is ;) )

You mean Miru =)

As far as that comment went, it sucks for the tourists that were there. I'm sure the terrorists couldn't have cared less if it was XMas day for us.

I'm a muslim and I'm so glad that you said this....thank you.
