inflation problems <no flame plz>

But isn't the whole point for prices to go down? If you base this off supply and demand prices should go down. Lets say everyone wanted to do a bcnm 60 or ksnm 30 (rse2, penitent's rope, v. claw, etc). And were successful in getting their desired item. That would overflow the AHs with those good pieces of gear and wouldn't the economy go down because of it. Or people putting their item in the AH for a cheaper price so it will sell fast? If you can keep doing bcnms over and over and over the price will go down. It's just lessening the value of gil, not taking gil out of the market. To me, if you use gil to buy seals then that will make your items you get from BCNM battles that much more expensive. They'll add the cost of the seals needed for that bcnm battle to the price of whatever said item they got because they don't want to lose money. That's how i'm thinking about it at the moment. I may be wrong, who knows. Don't forget... there are greedy people out there on our server.

But for people who farm for a living. Buying bst seals using gil would be great. It would really shorten farming time. Instead of farming 8 mil for an SH, you just need to farm enough money for 30 KS seals. And the price of 30 KSs would never change unlike the AH price of items. I hated farming forever and ever to get 2.5 mill for my hauby.

actually it does since
a) you buy materials to craft the item
b) you buy the item itself

in either case, whether you buy from AH or NPC that gil you spend is converted to GP, removing it from the system

Another that doesn't understand. Geez, do we have a freaking monkey working these things?

When you buy from the auction house, the gil doesn't disappear.

Actually, Gir is correct that this takes gil out of the market. Every item has a gil value assosciated with. At some point gil is used to create most crafted items and therefore take that item out of the market through the guild point system then you are in fact taking gil out of the economy. Not directly, but obviously indirectly and I believe that was Gir's point. However, the guild point system is used to take items out of the economy also.

As far as FF having a broken economy, quite the contrary. Any free market system is going to have inflation. We all earn more money because of this inflation because (as Strid pointed out above) all items have gone up in value. I don't think there is anything wrong because I have more potential to earn money, therefore can spend more on items. I think we all fall into that category, but it would be nice if prices on big ticket items remained the same while our earning power increased - That my friends would be a true FANTASY economy.

More Dynamis Shells. We're a pretty Dynamis-slacking server.

More useful NPC-bought things.

Right there is the only way to get gil out of the system... Why they gimped the guilds is beyond me...

Maybe to add a touch of realism? (Before anyone says it, yes, I know it's a Fantasy MMORPG, but certain things have to be realistic).

I personally think that if all NPCs had a set amount of Gil for buying items from players, and their prices were linked in with the supply and demand, then that could solve a lot of problems.

On the other hand it could do what happened in Wish in that the NPCs ran out of money too fast because nobody was selling items to eachother and purely turning them into the NPC for Gold.

Being a returning player, the only thing that I've noticed (which someone has already pointed out - forgive me for not remembering your name) is that everything has a lot more 0's on the end of it.

I think a lot of the problem is that people aren't willing to put the time in to make money, like in real life you can't always have everything you want, even if all your mates do have all the latest equipment and gear there'll always be someone better off than you. Some people find a niche in the market and jump right in making a killing, just ask my g/f - She makes approximately 400'000Gil per day, but she has put a LOT of effort into it whilst also spotting holes where something will be valuable to someone at some level.

On another point of the economy scaling too quickly, you could also argue that time moves too quickly. Is the in-game inflation rising too rapidly for the in-game time?

With such a rapidly changing economy, whatever SE decide to do they have to go very careful, because as quick as the economy has risen so too can it fall.

Allow players to purchase ancient currency. Create more foods that require NPC-only ingredients. There are a wide variety of ways to pull gil out of the economy. It's not exactly rocket science, after all.

Which often makes me wonder why SE hasn't really done most of those things.

not only this a dynamis slcking server but we dont do many bcnm as many server and we really are not a big king hnm server either. If you look serket, roc, and Simurgh are camp to all hell by gil seller and hnm shells alike. <which in my theory bring down the drop rate>

but the one that would have to take alliance to kill are always up to be killed by them top notch ls's which make hella money because of it.

let take dragon for example on this server how many ls can kill them 2-3 have actually tryed. The reason we dont have more is we have to many small ls and not enough bigger ones. If there wher like 5 or 6 big shells instead of 10 to 15 small ones there would be benfits for all hnm wont be limited to the easy everday hnm people would be able to branch out to the big more harder ones.

anouther problem have you seen the diffence in price jp sell items to the price na sell items? <there are exception to both>
in the most part jp sell there item for alot higher then na. They sell dynamis currency for 25k while we sell for 12-15k. in item we would sell for 100k they sell for 500k. WHat this tell me they have to much bloody money  If na would catch up to the jp i belive this would help drive down prices as well becuase agian we wont be limited to the scraps left behind

So you live in a state that gambling is legal and did you know that casinos are required by law to pay out so much of slot machine money. Around 75 percent is average for the law but casinos usually pay out more than that because of competition with other casinos. Slot machines are money over time things. Not take all you money away instantly. As I think about it though how many people actually play tetra master? Maybe opening an area in game where you can do that and you would have to pay a fee to enter that area and you can win items that way. This just came to the top of my head so bear with me. By paying to get into this area you can play with other people on your server or you can set it up like a black jack table where everyone plays the house at once. There you can win prizes, money, cool items whatever, and on top of removing gil from the economy, all of that programming they put into making tetra master won't go to waste. What do you think?

Rl laws are designed to keep casinos from taking advantage of compulsive gamblers. SE wouldn't need to be nearly as protective of us, because we aren't really loosing gil. So they could set big paybacks with worse odds. As for the tetra master Idea, certainly one form a "casino" could take. Keep in mind that when I say casino, I'm refering to any wager based competition, It could take the form of a colloseum too, with betting on fights between players and mobs, or two npc mobs. Anything would work, as long as its high risk/high return, with the odds in the house's favor. The main goal is to suck gil out of the system to slow inflation while giving enough back to keep people playing. 100 gil to the lucky roller just isn't enough, the stakes need to be higher, and the methods need to be more engauging.

also the one problem I see with this is the fact that just like half the other thing in this game people could cheat. I though of the casino idea awhile back, but people already look in to the dat file to find out stuff about the game what to stop them from hacking this.

now i still like the Chocobo racing idea I had. they way it work is you raise a chocobo to race. By feeding it diffent food you will allow it to grow up strong. <smiliar to ff7 style> I think this will help this will help the enconemy as well as the cooking buisness. HOW you may ask :?: ok lets say that there a npc who says something like this.

hello my name is <insert npc name> I have purchased some land in Diorama Abdhaljs and made a few tracks. For what you say? Chocobo racing taht what. and for a small fee of <insert amount of gil> I can teleport you there; but wait I also have a partner Brutus. It seem that I dont have that many racers and brutus was looking for people to help raise some of his Chocobo chicks. so please see him if you want to raise some to race.

that be the bigining diologe for the quest. Now there be 2 ways to win way one you bet on a rider way 2 you are a rider. now there be a few npc riders just to make it fair so someone cant rig a race to lose. you would have diffent classes and if there are no rider for that race you would still be able to bet on npc riders. Now se would have to encyript the code so people would not be able to cheat. Im not to sure what the prizes or how big the money amount won would be are even how much the registration fee would be to enter a Chocobo in a race would be.

another idea is to make a bastilla that there is none of them petra just strait out killing the other person and you would get point by killing the other team people or you could do last man standing always fun

Even if there are more items available, prices might not necessarily go down, because theres still the X amount of gil around. Removing gil, thus making an individual gil having more buying power, will. They can continue to add cost all they want, eventually server gil totals will go down, and the price they think is fair will just be an overcharge.

There are tons of ways to introduce better gil-sinks(TOTALLY OPPOSITE OF ITEM SINKS, OKAY RELIC WEAPONS? OKAY) but it's Square's unknown reasoning to not add them that baffles players, and just continues to drive servers currencies in to the ground.

to subtitle some wankkers have to much bloody money and making more by selling for high prices, why because they have more time to camp items or they have the resources to camp x item.
