I just watched this movie on netflix, and i AM going to watch it again...and again...and again. I dont even own a blue ray player yet but i have ordered this movie as my first blue ray.

It is amazing through and through.
I dont really get all gung ho about alot of movies, i have a top 5 and it has not changed in years!

Back to the future trilogy
The Boondock saints
Donnie Darko
Romeo and Juliet
Vanilla Sky

INK has just taken its spot right after The Boondock saints after the first viewing.
I did not want this movie to end!!

I dont wanna ruin the movie so i wont give too much detail away but the description on netflix is as follows.

"late one night, a lost soul named Ink snatches 8-year old Emma into the world of dreams. There, he hopes to use he soul to join the ranks of the evil Incubi. In the real world, Emma lies comatose, to the despair of her father, john."

Sounds like some sci-fi far fetched stuff huh? That description does no justice, Initially i wasnt going to watch it based on that description, but it had a solid 5 star rating so i gave it a go! And i will never regret it!
The movie is so much deeper than that description and it will pull your emotional chords and choke out a few tears along the way, as well as engulf you in the action packed sequences.

Check the trailer!

Im stressing to those of you who love a good movie with a great story, do not pass this movie up! it was made for only 250k and blows most of the big budget stuff of today out of the water.

i now have a top 6! thanks Ink!

Looks tight.

wasn't that the theme to sunshine :( (in the trailer)

mmk watched it was pretty good, made me think introspectively and hoping my career doesn't put me in a position such as he was in.

dont think so, the theme to sunshine is just a bunch of pads, no piano. Ive watched sunshine alot so i dont think they are the same song.

on a side note, the official website has a great deal on this movie, get a t-shirt, movie poster and choice between blue ray or dvd autographed by the director for 34 bucks!
i purchased that package last night!

I just finished watching it. I'm gonna grab this on blu ray it was really really good. I almost cried at the ending, first film in a long time that actually made me have empathy for the characters.

No big studio picked up the film for theatrical and home distribution. Double Edge Films pitched the movie directly to independent cinemas and to the DVD, Blu-ray and online distribution by themselves. After the release it became the most downloaded movies in file sharing torrent sites more accurately 400,000 times in a single week and exposed the film to a large audience, leading to higher DVD and Blu-ray sales in return. The independent filmmakers wrote in their newsletter that they had "embraced the piracy" and are "happy Ink is getting unprecedented exposure."

^IMDB I did torrent it, but like all film I enjoy I buy anyway so I don't feel too bad lmao.

i actually watched it on netflix the first time, so i sorta paid to see it.
I immediately ordered the blue ray, but since i dont have a BR player till income tax time, i torrented it and watched it a few more times.
I let a few friends know about this movie, they all went and rented it or netflixed it and called me after they finished watching it to thank me for telling them about it, and they all went out and bought it haha.
It does change the feel of the movie a little bit once you know how it ends, but its still just too awesome.
I admit, i did cry at the ending.
But i cried a lil at some other parts in the movie, like when he was talking to his wife in that dream state.

that movie does look pretty good, makes you wonder how big production companies blow 100+million on trash like dragonball evolution

Yeh, I was thinking this exact thing. This film was so well made and didn't look like a low budget film at all to me. Can't wait to watch it on blu ray, getting it for Christmas. It's a shame none of my family will give it the time as they are very simple when it comes to media texts....

well i thought i had this movie completely figured out the other night.
I had a friend over and we watched it somewhere around 5 am haha and after it ended my friend asked me

Spoiler:
so...he got in a car accident...but somehow he committed suicide later?

That question sparked me to try n solve the explanation of this movie, especially since during this viewing i noticed a few things i didnt notice before that made it make a little more sense.
But the moment i came up with my deeply thought out solution, one single thing shot it out of the air.

my theory was
Spoiler:
I noticed there were two different points that occured during johns life in the real world where as it faded out and transitioned to another scene, a line is whispered by either the story tellers or an incubus that is said later in the movie. On point was where he was making his business deal and the clock starts shaking on the wall and he starts seeing the nightmare stuff.
You hear the incubus say "you have to be there in one hour, wake up!!" then you hear the "tick tock, this guy got rocked...we dont have much time" line.
So basically your seeing what the incubus was putting in his head at the moment of the accident.
This made me believe that the entire movie, at least in the real world parts took place after the accident and what we were seeing were the images being fed by the incubus and the story tellers. i assumed that they fed him the images of his suicide to show him what would happen if he didnt embrace his shame and guilt and visit his daughter. I also concluded that the moment he got in the accident is when he became ink, that his entry "was painful" and he had those scars from the accident, not the suicide. Due to the bandage on his nose and the cuts on his face.
The answer has to lie in the line "one day to us is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like one day" thats because when she first tells the girl time is different for them, they dont show her saying that line, but they play her saying it at the ending.
The only thing that destroys my thought is the fact that she was already captured by ink and they had to create the car accident in order to get him to the hospital to visit his daughter.
I mean its possible that the entire scene of him taking the girl and offering her up was a dream created by the story tellers to show him an example of his shame and guilt and make him believe he took her and he was responsible for her coma, and she was actually there because she was in the coma and already in the dream world.
But i just dont think so, the fact that ink takes her before the accident baffles me and time rifts always confuse me.

anyway, 20 minutes after the movie ended my doorbell rang and i got my autographed blue ray, my tshirt (which is pretty thin fabric) and my poster which looks great on my wall. It came with a little post card thingy with all their web address' too and the cover of the movie on one side.
Still lovin this movie, and cant wait till i finally figure this out haha.

Looks interesting :) I think I will check it out for myself as well.

Thank you for the find, Chasym!

that was really well done man!

Spoiler:
It's kinda hard figuring out the time line.. he becomes ink clearly after the car accident and they reference his suicide with the pistol to the head while he's sitting in a chair. Assuming this is after the girl is dead, he goes through a downward spiral and then becomes Ink.. they say though "this is what you COULD become" so I think it's all part of some dream, and it didn't necessarily have to occur after the girl died, because the Incubus' were visiting him before she was taken.. so maybe that had something to do with it too idk.

Personally I think this movie is kind of dumb. It's trying to be deep without putting logical thought into it, just on a mysterious factor that's not really backed up when examined closely. The result is that if you watch the movie very passively, it doesn't make any sense, and gives you the illusion that there's something under the hood if you try and pick it apart. When you try to pick it apart, you realize it's mainly a lot of nonsense. Each to their own, but that's how the movie strikes me.

oh it makes sense, it just took me alot of time to have it all fall into place. Just certain lines in the movie are clues to how this is all happening at the same time, i racked my brain on this movie and each time i watched it i pieced something new into it until i finally had the full understanding.
Its a movie that made me think, just like donnie darko which also took me awhile to understand.
