so i've read about the infamous fox group (do a /sea fox all and you'll know) who are mostly lv 40-50, but i also found a bunch of weirdly named chars trying to level in kazham. names like asdfffg and just seemingly random lettered names. mostly DRGs (damn /target npc) and they just PT with themselves.
on gamefaqs, there's tons of horror stories about gillsellers camping a NM 24/7, mining 24/7 and farming 24/7 in certain areas on some servers... is our economy about to go to hell?

people have been doing that since the game started. a friend in my linkshell camped an NM in castle oztroja with one of them and they split the drop. my friend was very grateful and invited him to our linkshell. he spoke japanese and a little english and told us that he gets paid to camp NMs and farm constantly. so call off the military. the game is going to be okay :D

but what if a group of people camped certain NMs 24/7 with voke bots? they control the supply of a valuable commodity. example some ppl used was ppl who camp stoper for archer's rings. they control the supply of it, price of archers goes up and so do the prices for snipers. it's been like 2 months since i got one and price has gone up 200k since then.

I meet Foxboy yesterday whille farming in upper dekfutts(sp*) tower. He was /telling me to heal him and i told him "Gill farmers get no help from me". And guess what, he died :D . I don't know why but they all seem to like being lvl 50 DRGs. And i bet there bosses are Jaychou and Goblinlink.

I was up in the tower once and saw one dead with Enkelados standing over his corpse. Killed the NM and watched him eat the death and respawn at HP.

How dare they try to take the upper tower, we all know that's Goblinlink's home.

Well Foxgirl, Foxvivi and Foxti trade off their time in Bubu and Shakrami...Lately since It's been a pain getting a PT I find it more fun to Try and slow their sales even by one stack of silk and a cluster at a time :x But the lil bastiges dont sleep!!!

/wonders how much 6 Bloody Fox Hides would go for

Bluewind, Ecks, and I seen one of the Fox members farming in shakrami and bluewind told us not to help him out hen he was in trouble so we walked by him and stole a few of his mobs ^^ and he was like "Why?....." But I do see them around alot.

I've seen Foxvivi (the WHM Taru one) shouting ads for his teleport service in Jeuno before. I had to blist him after he spammed his 3 lines of shout 3 times in one minute. -_- Not that I'd want to knowingly contribute to a gil seller anyway, heh.

But yeah, the gil sellers are all over the place, and there's not much you can do about it. If they were botting (and being obvious about it) then you could snag them on that, IF you get a good GM. But they're not botting, they're being played by actual people in shifts. And since you can't actually PROVE they're selling gil . . .

I'm most amused by all the former Rusty fishbots though. You guys who've been to Rabao know what I'm talking about- the 40+ fishermen that used to ALWAYS be at that oasis, that vanished the day the patch was implemented. I've seen a lot of them pop up in Windurst now, and a few in Bastok as well. I wonder what their target catch is now?

I would love to see those dinks mine in Ifrit Cauldron... BWUAHAHAHA.

Yeah Rabao is DEAD alot of legit fishers now but hey we are somewhat starting to get our way. and if square had to nerf vendor prices they did what they had to do and I say congrats to them.

That's why crafting items have gone up so much. All the millionaire cap bots are now starting a craft with theri billions of gil so tehy can have an "unlimted" supply of gil.

I think you guys underestimate just how many people are working on this. Take IGE, which is the largest game items and currency "creator" on the net since they bought Yantis. IGE's got an army of Chinese farming any imaginable game currency 24/7, on an earlier version of their web site they stated that they got 130 people working in their Hong Kong office, thus it is no surprise that some toons are online 24/7.

The reason I wrote "creator" is because IGE doesn't always play by the rules, most notably was the case in which a few hundred EQ trial accounts were deleted by SOE because they found out that IGE used those accounts to accumulate billions of plat during the banker dupe incident.

Bottom line is, sellling virtual things, be it currency, property (UO, Second Life), or items, is BIG business, and it is on the rise as more and more "average" gamers enter the market. Gamers who either don't have the time, desire, or in some cases skill, to achieve things in the virtual world, but have the means in the real world to pay for it.

Reminds me of what must have been 2002, I was doing well in EQ and sold some items and plat to a guy who turned out to be the VP or McGraw-Hill publishing at the time. Some $200 for a Cobalt BP, and $100 per 10,000 plat were commonplace.

I guess the difference is that I wasn't playing the game with the purpose to farm and sell stuff, nor was I playing 24/7, I just so happened to have excess, and between helping friends of mine out with plat when they needed it and selling some of it I did ok. Later on I sold most all my characters for what I consider big bucks, but again, they were not created for the purpose to sell them off, I just retired and obviously there is no point to let something go to waste if someone else is perfectly willing to pay some serious cash for it.

P.S.: Anyone interested in a pretty nice EQ account? haha ...

he was Chinese.

Members of the Elemental Angel series (Fireangel, Iceangel, etc) have started mining in Gusgen now, which royally pisses me off since that's my main source of income. I wouldn't even mind if they ran around to the points, but instead they just camp at them. And even the ones that do run around steal points.

Now, I steal their points.

So, let me get this straight.
Last time I checked, around 7mil gil can net you around 1k real world $$
So..........If I camped Mee Deegi non-stop, got say 2 kotes a day, made around 1 mil per day, I could make 1k real world per week ?!?!?!

Sounds like its time to lvl to 50+ and quit my job!

But honestly, as tempting as that sounds (and it is tempting)
adding another to an already crowded bunch has got to hurt the game.
The only way it could help, is if, for example, last week there were 12 Ochiudos Kote in Jeuno AH. The price was down from 500k to 420k.
Which in turn made the item more affordable to some players. (DING! me)
But even that is a double edged sword.

[Hmmmm] whatever, as long as it doesnt drive the economy into the ground or make items price tags skyrocket, there is little any of us can do about it.

Squeenix could give 2 shits about it, which doesnt say much for their commitment to their customers who adhere to the license agreement.

/em goes back to glance over license agreement

Not really.
Even though Akamu(sp?) may have gotten that amount when he quit and sold his stuff, and even though IGEs web site may state that they pay 1k for 7M gil, this isn't accurate info anymore.

In general, currency is in high demand when a game is new, or as iun our case new to NA, or now new to Euros. But, FFXI is basically old, there are lots of high level characters available, and many will rather invest real world cash into a character (to then farm gil and have some fun in the process), than into gil.

If you try to sell IGE 7M gil right now, you will get a message saying that they currently have enough gil in stock (BIG surprise!) and are not interested in your gil.

However, if you really had 7M gil, you could still sell it reasonably fast, just not for $1k, you could probably get some $80 per 1M gil. Right now accounts are HOT, crazy Euros are paying insane amounts of cash for high level characters, depending on character wealth a L75 toon will fetch some $600-$1k. This is a huge increase over just a few weeks ago when you could grab L75's for less than $400 on a regular basis.

IMHO, buying a high level character off of like E-bay is absurd.

My friend's brother's friend(lol) wanted to buy an account that had a lvl55DRK Galka for the character, everyone was like "No, don't!"

If you started off that high, and went to party, you wouldn't know what to do, and you would neglect abilities you have, and basically bringing valkurm into the higher levels.

And haveing a non-legit character isn't fun, on PSO, I had a high level character, and when I found out the maxing the stats glitch, I did it, and now it is boring to me, leveling up isn't worth it anymore because I get no stat boosts or anything...

So basically the people who are buying accounts with high level characters are going to get bored of this game quickly...

Ahh, one shall never assume ...

Here's a game myth: People who buy high level characters don't know how to play them.
While this is certainly true in some cases, it doesn't hold true if you look at the overal number of bought toons. No game is rocket science, if one is a gamer, one will pick up on things quickly. If one does not pick up, then one would have been a bad player no matter what, as you can see on high level originals who suck.

Here's another game myth: People who bought toons have less fun.
Well, it's all relative, to some it is fun to fish moat carp for the Lu-whatever fishing rod, to some it is more fun to buy a toon and actually use the Lu-whatever fishing rod that came with it instead of wasting one's life trying to get enough carp for it.

It all depends.
An universal truth is that one can not possibly convince someone with arguments that getting to the end game is more rewarding than actually being there. Unless one has done both, the getting there, and the being there, one will never understand that getting there is infinitely more rewarding than being there.

Either you pay $1k for the character that lvl75, or pay $1k over time from all the monthly fee's to make it there..

Yeah, if some people CAN learn fast to play well, but when it comes to other things, (missions, AF, etc.) You haven't been in the game long enough to do those with friends, unless you bought the char. thats Rank 10, Full AF, etc...but then whats the point really? Why spend so much money to start a game with everything? If for the power because you can kill most things in the game, then I guess they wouldn't mind farming then :P

well here's my two cents on it

i have been trying to get Jujitsu Gi and Valk Mask for the last two weeks

whenever i went to Davoi or Beadeux.... the same people always be there

i was in jeuno and i would do a search for those areas, they would be there

i even asked one of them.... why u camping this for??

he said for the gil

am i frustrated that people playing on shifts to get items/gil ?? of course

can SE or other companies do anything about it?? not anything drastic to get rid of the problem, they are paying for the accounts for the most part, and if u delete their accounts i'm pretty sure they will make new accounts

but it is also interesting to know that, in some other countries, these practices are quite common and a person or a group of people play MMORPG to make money

there is an establishment of a Virtual E-Bay, an auction site dedicated for vitual stuff and it actually runs well

i have heard that those may actually be coming over to the US

well its time to find other sources to get gear/gil.... see u out there~
