Is dancer going to be like a brd?

last I check whm didn't get weapon proc magic spells
Last I checked those spells were practically useless. It would have been infinitely better to make them a buff a RDM could cast on a party member; so that they would actually get used once in a while.

Last I check rdm used joyeuse. Which in 99% of all melee situations outside of soloing is an awful sword.

269 skill with available other melee gear would still mean a weak vorpal. If you really think you can justify giving the mob a ton of needless tp just so you can throw out a 279 Vorpal Blade, by all means you have my attention.

It might be possible soon as RDM/SCH or SCH/RDM! But it depends on Recast time and level

"Chapter: Divine Presence" - Causes the next Enchanting magic to be AoE. Only usable under the effect of "White Grimoire"

Those spells may be useless to an experience party, but they are a RDM's best friend when it comes to soloing.

However, when it comes to melee comparison between other jobs and RDM...Well, I'm not going to be condescending, we all have common sense.

Yes, but just because you use it while soloing does not make you a "battle mage," otherwise WHM is a better battle mage than RDM due to their higher skill. I could fight on my ninja through spamming my elemental Ni spells, but that doesn't mean I can call my self a nuker.

Yeah, they are useful for soloing, but that's also the only time they're useful. Doesn't make you a battle mage :P

edit: beaten =/

another note rdm is the only mage without staff skill other then blue which is also a battle mage. As for the 279 vorpal comment being a hybrid you wont be able to do as much dmg, like pup and until recently drg. However with a higher skill it might be plausible since then we could place on some str gear.

Actually, drg was always a pretty decent dd if geared right. Anyone who says it wasn't is just jumping on the "loldrg" bandwagon.

No, you wouldn't. Skill would have nothing to do with it. You'd have less attack with a bard then I would without. Your max STR would be 30-40 points lower than mine. You cannot use a majority of the gear fundamental to making a DD character. All you can equip is Dusk gear, which hasting a 10 point attack just makes the next useless attack come slightly quicker.

Asides TP gain issues (as Skaw already said), there's also the issue of their DoT vs the mob as well as the TP they sorta feed it...if their WS is basically their dance, it'd hafto be something damned good for it to be worth the awful DoT they'd amount to (if they used daggers, that is.)

Yeah that's what I was thinking. I mean RDM basically gets kicked from anything close to melee around 40s and after 51 are pretty much forbidden to melee. Dancers are basically RDM (with the ability to cast enfeebs healing etc).

IMO Dancers also don't look like they can dish out to much damage to be worthwhile.

Is it just me or has SE really tried to make a go for always adding one potentially bad job when they come out with new ones. Now I say potentially because although some people can make the jobs great (I wont deny that I've been in a couple parties with awesome PUPs). A lot of the time the jobs aren't played to their fullest and people assume the worst out of the whole group.

So now you're a battle mage because you don't have any staff skill? Hell, that'd make you less of a battle mage, since you wouldn't have Spirit Taker for a quick MP recharge.

RDM also has ZERO traits/abilities that relate to meleeing, while every other melee job in the game gets at least one. You're not a battle mage, by any means. Accept it.

good dmg dealers yes great dmg dealers no

Can add damage to the mob similar to what a thf can do, but just w/o the push from SA, and TA. And they also have the ability to heal people, enfeeble mobs, and prob some other stuff we don't know about yet to make the battle easier.

I stop RDM's from meleeing after they get cure 2. I don't care that everyone is a shitty DD at that point so they "measure up," I didn't invite a damage dealer to heal in between swings, I invited a healer/nuker. Them swinging away at the mob is time better spent resting.

No job is bad if people put the time and effort into it, only narrow-minded thinking makes any job seem bad really.

rdms that melee in a pt trying to be good dmg dealers are feeding the mob tp for not enough dmg. Basically not enough damage:mob tp ratio. Like said above, time meleeing is better spent resting
