The two downsides I see in FFXI are:
-Horrible economy
-Unbalanced jobs, resulting in some to get invites lesser/rarer than others.

Here is how to fix both of those problems in one fell swoop:

Farm while seeking.. Gosh, what an interesting and entirely new concept :?

Sorry but farming while seeking will not fix the in-game economy. I do not know how everything is going now that gilsellers have been banned so this tab will remain untouched by my input.

Yes, farming while seeking is a good way to utilize one's time when seeking for a party instead of mindlessly waiting in town, but one should also not have to farm for days, weeks, months, etc. (P.S. I was lvl 53 for 3 months  )

And yet again, how does farming while seeking fix the balance problem? It only gives the neglected something to do while waiting, not balance the jobs.

I'll toss you a special treat for trying though.

It's all about personal preference.

The one thing i do enjoy about it, is as Sculli said; it doesn't take hours at a time to accomplish something worth doing. Not just sitting around Jeuno for a day and a half looking for a party.

But once again, personal preference. It just so happens i like to actually do something with my time.

I never played WOW..I'll stick with FFXI though

Having two accounts and gotta pay for both..no thanks..I'll stick to one account ^^ Plus WOW doesn't really appeal to me

I haven't played WoW, but I have 2 IRL friends who quit XI for WoW, so I only comment based on what I've heard from them and I might be wrong in something. The basic thing is, the game seems too easy. You can do everything yourself, level crafts to insane levels effortlessly, and just level off of quests the whole time. It just doesn't strike me as something that I'd really consider worthwhile. One of my friends was over 40 in about 2 weeks, that's the kind of thing you can only do in XI with PL's and statics, far too easy.

I'm proud of some of my accomplishments in XI, even though thousands of people have done them before me, because it took time to do and a lot of work. If I can just log on and do it within an hour all by myself, it doesn't feel the same. I do like the comments that have been made about how WoW seems to be better suited for casual players, which is probably true.

But one of the biggest draws of XI is the community that's been created from everyone partying with each other. If I need help on something, I've got friends or acquantances that I can /tell for help. Sometimes it's a pain to get enough people for some of the larger/harder/obscurer events, but you feel like you've accomplished more for the amount of effort it took to do it. My friends who play WoW said that for the occasional stuff you need a group for, it's a lot harder to get people. It seems like the community in WoW, like the rest of the MMO's I've heard about, isn't nearly as developed or as strong as the one in XI, simply because we're "forced" to party and get to know each other.

There are some nice things about WoW they've said, like people can't monopolize some NM's, when you go into certain areas, you get your own version of the area, with your own mobs to kill. But then, it just means that everyone will have leaping boots, emp pins and ochudo's kotes, which detracts from the pride of having them.

I also don't like the graphics, but then I fucking HATED warcraft 3. The single player was just boring as hell and I just started cheating to beat the levels and get to the story, just so I wouldn't have to suffer through another mission.

Regardless, WoW has some perks and might be better for some people, but I'm not leaving XI for it. I'll take my hard-won prizes anyday.

IMO, Bajarett above post rocks!!!!

level 40 in two weeks. What kinda crack are u smoking dude.THe hardest quests that takes 3 4 hrs to do give u 2.5k 3k exp after u kill a whole town of mobs and then advance to the bosses (Dungeons/instance)and at level 36 i need like 40k plus exp to level.... i played 16 hrs and got one level but yes crafting is fun... but not easy u ned to hunt mobs that drop those items and they are hard to kill mostly,if the armor is higher level.
And u need to fight with alliance if both are camping same mob.Btw level 40 in two weeks is impossible unless all he does is playing WoW.In FFXi i got my thf to 45 in two weeks also.if easy means... u can solo for exp then yes u are right but it takes longer to get exp solo since there is an exp bonus if u are in a group.

Everyone will have leaping boots. o.O ?. i have seen one guy with the dagger i wanna get... the mob spawns after 10 hrs.So the rare items are hard to get and u have to camp em.The community in WoW is alot better than ffxi. There is no jp/eng crap and most players are from FFXi or other mmorpgs and know what they are doing.WoW has big ass area alot more mobs alot more armor and alot more professions.U can make a mechanical pet that guards u o.O.There is no picking on jobs and most jobs can beat each other in duals and play a role (If u have skill). The rogue in wow > thief in ffxi.My rogue can go sneak/vanish (No one can see me)and paralyze mob or with a hit or just pass through them (Unless they have true sight). So rogue in WoW is Mobs dont chase u in a 100 miles zone and they give up after a while. The AH is a real AH and u bid on stuff instead of setting price to it.. and thats fun also. The mounts ,the ship and all that stuff add up to it.Skill in FFXi is equal or less than WoW since in WoW u get poisons, druids can turn them selves into different animals with different stats and mages are not weak ass like in ffxi ;they can kick butt along with defending them selves.Tell me when u actually play WoW...trust me when u get to 15 u'll be bored from FFXI cuz there is so much shit in it and everyday i see a new area or zone.Fighting underwater mobs in pools in zones is fun also (undead can breathe under water for a long time).I'd quit FFXI long ago but something keeps me from doing that.. but WoW is alot more competition (when it comes to dual or fighting alliance),fun and roleplaying.FFxi should introduce new mobs instead of giving different names and stats to the same goddamn grab that u can use to level from 20 to 60.You said ur friend can level a craft to max.. thats impossible unless hes level 60.For skinning and mining and all that u need to actually skin a mob thats same level as you or higher. At level 36 my skinning is 150 and it wont get to 200 unless i'm 50 or higher since i have to actually fight something that high and skin it again and again. But yes crafting is not boring as fck like in ffxi where most of ur crap sells for less since at AH u dont bid but buy at the price thats set by people who hq items. The high end gear requires raids of like 60 70 people... but people agree to come mostly unlike in FFXI where people are asking for 100k reward .

WoW was a fun game from 1-59, then when you hit 60 it drops down to FFXI fun :p

The instances for 60 are almost dynam quality hard, and drop rares for "AF" type gear hit pretty much genkei 1 drop rates...when genkei 1 drop rates really sucked, I always think in some nerf patch they made the stuff drop easier... but anyway.

Sure people can do an instance over and over, but they usually take 2-3 hrs to do for the expected level, since its the endboss that has the nice gear.

So now you're back into the trap of looking for the optimal setup to finish a dungeon that takes 2 hrs. Why do I always pick the wrong class :p

Well its a good thing my guild has 400 members so I'm not bored like many claimed, its fun to go raid the alliance. I enjoy the PvE aspect of the game since PvP is lacking, but its always fun to gank some alliance dipshit to ruin his fun for the day.

Hopefully I can post a movie from Molten Core which is kind of like a Dynam where you have a lockout of 5 days and hard as shit. My guild is working with Goon Squad so its a ton of fun. Unfortunately I couldn't make it but oh well :)

FFXI is the better overall game IMO, but it has too many negatives to kill the fun aspects. If FFXI borrowed some of wows ideas(which it looks like it lately) then I think many players would be happy to come back.

That new type of battlefield sounds interesting hope you guys report about it...

GIIIIIIMMMMS

Hey maybe Ill give WoW a spin i decided to try eq2 with some rl friends and what a joke that was. Ive never seen a more broken product held together with scotch tape it seemed like. Hi end mobs were a joke, all of the accessed and instanced zones were bugged in one form or another.

Wow just doesnt seem all that interesting to me still. Ill have to have you and mist give me some good points to convince me to join you :D
