I just got cable yesterday... but the main modem is in the back room since the fax and everything is back there.

I got my computer and my PS2 in the front bedroom.

I'm curious if I'm able to buy another modem and hook it up (linkeys cable modem) ya know... so that we don't have a bunch of cables running around the house...

I just only have to pay for the monthy few for the ISP... modems have nothing to do with the payment?

And also.. having 2 modems in the household is still gonna work?

that looks awsome... and a lot easier...

could you try it out first and let me know how it works?

I'm still curious about the payments with the modem and the ISP

You'd probably do just as well to get a wireless bridge, rather than another cable modem. That you could just plug into the PS2 and wouldn't have to worry about cables.

For 2 cable modems you would need to get 2x high speed accounts $$. As for that wall jack thing.... stay away! Especially since you want to use ps2 AND a PC. That thing is only rated for 11MB. Best bet would be to get wireless or to run the hardwire lines. Since i dont know what your house layout is, ill stick with wireless.

I play on a wireless connection with no lag on this game or any other FPS types games. (other than server lag really)

There was a time i used a Cable Modem. And we wanted to get a 2nd one. After contacting the ISP about it, they said they only supply 1 modem per house hold. Aside from that i'll also mention how there were 4 Digital cable boxes in the house aswell, if we had a 5th one, it would not work due to bandwith issues, so appearantly there is a cap on what a houshold cable can provide.

I have 2 DSL Modems and they boath function fine, except only when one is not plugged in. Even if the power is shut off on one, it still needs to be plugged out before it allows the other one to work, off of any outlet. But that is different.

Surly we have different providers, so the best thing for you to do is ask you're ISP. Most likely they will say no, to giving you another modem, and offer you a solution like a modem with a build in router,(which you already have)

If you're willing to pay double the price for the internet, then you may as well get a DSL Model. I ran off of Cable DSL and T1 modems, and i find the DSL just the same as Cable.

I was just gonna go buy one... not ask them to suppy me with another one

I probably will go try it out... being stuborn.. then if that doesn't work I'll just get a wireless router

I have Optimum Online, which is the Cable/Internet provider here. They supplied us with one modem. However, when we tried attaching a 2nd modem that my brother bought, the company started charging us double. We simply returned the modem and made all our computers wireless. Might be a bit more expensive to get started, but saved money in the long run.

I never had a good experience with wireless and online activity that requires a constant stream. That wouldn't mean there isn't a realible router and reciever out there though.

You would need a reciever for every machine that is to be wireless, and it is recommended that the wireless routher itself be centered as even as possible for the sake of the recievers stability. (In many cases the reciever is sold seperatly.)

Also at 2.4 GHZ you're home will be surrounded by a feild that goes far beyond 300 meters (and i mean way beyond). So you would want to look into encrypting you're internet signals so noone in range can connect to you're modem and use up you're bandwith. Wireless routers come with instructions on how to encrypt the signal you let off.

That "Linksys 802.11g Wireless Gaming Adapter" you showed us is interesting, if you get one tell us how good it is.
