I'm not gung-ho about not using 3rd party tools :P just as long as they are good and not going to corrupt my computer.

Curious, what makes the built in worse than the 3rd party one?
 
Windower has full-screen windowed mode and the ability to adjust certain things on the fly, both of which are lacking from the basic SE windowed mode.

And that doesn't even take into account the incredible range of plugins available and the nightmarish entity that is SpellCast.

The time i'd likely to be online would be somewhere between 6pm-12am UK time (1pm-7pm EST) at best which isn't a patch on times I used to play. Crucially i'd be looking for a social ls who maybe do a few events and get limit breaks done but nothing to the scale of what we were doing in Perseverance way back you may remember. I'll wait to hear from you to see if there is any life in the game during my playtimes before deciding whether to reactivate my character. Would seem weird to have a level 75 caharacter with the best gear that was available at the time when I left and which is now considered more or less gimped in comparison to the equipment on offer now.

I'd normally catch a couple hours at the end of your time on (just like the old days). I just hang out with Raes most of the time and it is really easy to get to 99 and I am still meriting so I can help you. Damn Raes we are gonna have to get an old rarab tail for Auro. It is really relaxing being on now and soloing is super easy for those EU hours or there are always exp alliances every hour of the day. Would love to see you back.

So now that it's finally done installing (and downloading, the bigger issue), anything newer third party-wise worth getting? Or still basically windower? :P

Basically windower with its set plugins.

However, be warned. Quetz is the lowest populated server out of the active 16 servers. At peek times, it has roughly ~1300 which is horrible. It's a ghost town and will be pretty hard to get things done.

I suggest you do what I did and cough up $25 and server transfer to Asura or Bahamut.
 
Likely gonna buy the Ultimate Edition tonight and start the mega download. If it doesnt take too long and I manage to get back in game tonight then i'll try and seek you guys out. Raes or Foo, anyone in particular I need to hunt down to sort me out with a pearl? Would be nice to be back with a few familiar faces :)

pfft Quetzy was my home, I'll find a way :P Also, since stuff finally updated and got my SE account connected, I just realized I have two characters. One on Quetzy and one on Bismark XD the Bismark on is surely not even close to any high level I'm sure.

I decide to check out this old forum on a whim and look who's back! :P

Unfortunately yes, lolDynamis is no more. Gladdy took the reins from Cythe, and then he himself disappeared, so myself and Celvantes did our best to lead for a good couple years until the shell finally fizzled away. I think this happened sometime in 2011.

I just recently came back myself. The old Galiant (Tarutaru) was apparently sold without my knowledge, so I had to create a new character. Still on Quetz, and still Galiant, but I'm a Hume now.

But ya, still downloading some update I forgot it'd have to do. I'm looking forward to see what's changed.

And it's nice lolDynamis lasted as long as it did. I was really proud of that LS back when I played and started it. Sometimes it would be frustrating to get enough on, but still a bunch of great people.

I can pearl you, or Dino, or Bootz. Dunno who else has the capability lol, but I'm sure we can get it done.

I did shout a bit in Jeuno about EU shells; the only real answer I got back was about a shell called WeHateFail, which apparently runs in UK time but I never got a definitive answer on that one. I looked 'em up on FFXIAH, they seem pretty serious. D:
 
Well, I've gotta get used to playing FFXI again, I have been so used to WoW or GW2 or other MMOs that this control scheme has become.. foreign to me :P also I'm like the only one over in ToAU area atm. And most of my RDM gear is so far away. Ah fun.

Have they made it easier to travel around since I've been gone? Or mostly home point setting with warping and a few teleport areas?
 
Something I meant to point out a few days back... so probably too late to do any good; it's a lot faster to get the game rolling by applying the patches manually, a lot faster.
