I cancelled my content ID today. I've been doing less and less, generally having lost interest months ago, but holding out in the hopes that something would change. I'm not trashing my character, but sellables will be delivered to people who can use them. Vive FFXI.

Hey Pomp, you prolly remember my Taru Holistic (BLM) from back in the day. We used to hang out and PT etc. I agree with Iso again here, you will prolly end up wanting to come back at some point, I have been gone from the game for a good while and am now considering coming back to check out the new changes and catch up with old friends. Sometimes a little break makes a big difference. Just something to think about in case u are thinking of giving all ur stuff away or deleting or what not. Anyways, best wishes for you in RL keep in touch!

Coming back isn't impossible. I'm not doing anything to my character that farming can't fix. I'm not going to make any big claims about being gone forever, or start badmouthing the game, that's for sure. Burning bridges is bad in any situation. Still, it is unlikely. I'm not leaving in a fit of frustration, after all. The "I wish I didn't have to do this" sentiment is already there. Who knows? I toy with the prospect of another MMO, but it took me ages to shake off the wild addiction of FFXI (For the first two and a half years or so, I was the guy SE warns you not to become in their pre-game blurb), and that prospect isn't appealing. So yeah, call it quitting, call it an extended break with no intent to return, in the end, my content ID will simply expire on 11-1 with as little fanfare and drama as possible. In the event I do come back like they all do, I aim to eat as little of my words as possible.

Best wishes in RL, sad to see you go. There's not much to say as I talked to you ingame yesterday, and we still have the LS website that you run exceptionally to keep in contact.
