It's that time...

With my testimony in hand I will be facing the old man soon.
I've watched alot of videos, read alot of posts and made the macros.

I think I am ready...

Before I go for my first try (sometime this week) I would like to ask the qcdn community for any suggestions, tips, or just moral support.

I can't really find much information or even seen any videos of Galka RDM beating Maat, alot of it is a bunch of old posts that are Pre RSE2, some even say it is impossible, I don't think it is though.

I'm gonna try starting with the dispel > sleep > nuke (repeat) method to see how that turns out.

lots of Hi Ethers, maybe a Vile Elixer or Pro Ether, Marron Glace, and a few Yagudo Drinks.

I suggest using your AF body instead of the cotehardie. Why? Because of the enfeebling skill + 15. That could make or break your fight, as to whether or not sleep and bind actually stick.

Also, stoneskin, then blink. Whenever Maat casts a spell on you, refresh your buffs. Don't let him get close enough to you to get those nasty hits in.
 
Make an Equipment Macro for Nuking and Enfeebling it realy helps alot

This is how i did mine maby it helps

I went in full AF without my Staff

i ran towards him and Sleep II him directly (he had 0 Buffs on him)
Then i buffed my self up and Bind him.
Used a Yagudo drink

Then 2hours and nuked the crap outa him with my INT+ Gear
He might use his 2hours, when he uses it besure to Sleep II him

Then Convert and Nuke him again i beated him in 1,16 mins almost broke record (i'm an Elvaan btw) :P gl if ya need those Macro's just tell me hehe
 
I'd agree with sleeping him ASAP. First time I fought him, I spent too much time at the beginning buffing myself, and then lost an asston of MP having to dispel all his buffs. I then ran out of time cause I didn't have enough MP for the finishing blow.

Second time I fought him he just outright cheated, and resisted 4 sleeps and a bind IN A ROW. I'm still sore about that, but all I can do is dust off and try again.

little side note make sure you dispell him because you wont see him cast his frist buff and most the time it is shell. also stand as far back as possible before aero III him giving you more time to sleep. if he get to you and get his asuran fist on you your done he will chain asuran fist till you are dead.

Well I've fought him 3 times so far.

First 2 times he was a cheap bastard and resisted ALOT, even on Darksday.

3rd time I fought him on Darksday during full moon, I made several mistakes but they are easily fixable.

1. Didnt eat my food (I know, I'm a moron)
2. I didnt drink my Yag Drink at the start.
3. I only took 9 Ethers when I really needed about 15 or so.
4. I forgot that Pro-Ethers give a medecine effect, and make you unable to cast for about 20 seconds.
5. I took too much time trying to get StnSkn and Blink up after each nuke, and I hit the 7 minute point alot sooner than I thought, and so he beat my face in with 2 Asuran fists in a row.

Sleep was sticking like a charm (One resist), and Aero III never got resisted. I probably would have won if I had about 6 more Ethers and had eaten my food and drank my drink.

I havent tried Vile Elixer yet, casue I'm not sure if it's worth it with my low MP which is 606 with max MP gear, and about 530 with Enfeebling or Elemental gear.

Any medicine or food suggestions would be great as I am still not quite sure what is best, Ethers seem to be the quickest MP so far, I switched to these from HiEthers because they are soooooo much quicker, I've been eating Marron Glace or Rolanberry Pie.


Here's my strategy.

Go in, Sleep II right away, if resist then Sleep I.

Drink Yagudo Drink

Dispel all the way down to Shell, if he has Blink up then I'm probably screwed.

Buff up Blink and Stoneskin gogo.

Use 2 or 3 Ethers if I think I have time

Aero III

and repeat.

until...

Use a few Hi-Potions before I Convert then use Chainspell, making sure to end it with a sleep.

Use Pro Ether or whats left of my Ethers to gain mp back and 1 more nuke should finish him.

What do you guys think? Am I taking too much time? Am I expecting too much taking all these Ethers and stuff?

Im not a rdm but my guess would be to try the ranger route lol. Fast cast is instant casting right? and does it take of cast timers also? How long does it last? My idea would be to go in sleep him right away. Eat normally food for max MP and Yag drink. Chainspell. nuke nuke nuke sleep2 convert heal then nuke nuke nuke then bring in a vile elixers JIC so if he still isnt dead use those and nuke nuke nuke lol. I tihnk youre givving him to much time. But im not a rdm so I wish you luck. I cant wiat for maat fight lol only 4 more levels.

This stradegy all depends on how long chainspell lasts though also. Someone please tell me if im wrong though i dont want you to waste another testimony ><.

Sleep - nuke method is the most commonly adopted method. However, there are risk that Maat maybe exceedingly resistant to sleep(s) :shock: :? .

With a strong Galka body, u may adopt the early chainspell + nuke crazy tactic, but vile elixir and vile elixir+1 would be required. The advantage of such tactic is that emergency sleep(s) can be executed during chainspell :wink: :idea:

If it's that blurry low Res video that's in Japanese, I've seen it, and that is the technique I'm currently using, or something like it.

But hey, post it anyway, maybe its a different one.

I havent tried this technique yet, mainly because I dont think I have the MP for it, but If I lose enough times I may just give it a go.
 
Onu- I managed to beat Maat on my third try, and let me tell you. All those online guides that tell you to get him down to about halfway before convert/chainspell/nuke the hell out of him made me lose. :roll:

I won my fight using Crimson Jelly, a yag drink, 2 hi-ethers and a Vile Elixir +1. Simple breakdown of how it went:

Run in, eat food, cast only blink on myself, sleep 2 Maat. Maat had blink up, shadow ate sleep 2. Sleep 1, Maat is asleep. Put up stoneskin, drink yag drink. Put up Pro 4. Dispel Maat, taking off stoneskin. Bind Maat, blink eats it. Dispel Maat to no effect. Hi-ether. Aero 3, Water 3, Sleep 2. Maat is at about 75-80%. Hi-ether. I notice I only have ~70MP. I get ballsy. Stoneskin, Convert, Chainspell, Aero3 three times. Vile elixir +1. Aero 3 twice more, I win. Total time, 5 mins 22 seconds.

Maat popped his chainspell about the time I was chugging the Vile Elixir +1, but by then I could smell blood and there was no stopping me, haha. Part of it was luck that he didn't start blasting me with big nukes, but rather cast piddly stuff like Bio 2 and Paralyze on me. Even if he'd hit me with a couple 3 spells though, I probably still would have lived. I came out of the BC with about 600 HP and an undrunk Vile Elixir (regular not +1).

everyone I ever listened to said to chainspell after he used his. Anyway, worked for me :)

Fellina - That sounds alot easier than the slower method I've been trying. I'll substitute 3 Ethers for each Hi Ether (5 seconds for 60 MP over 10 seconds for 50 MP is nice) , and grab a Vile Elixir +1, I may just eat Marron Glace instead of putting 50k into a Crimson Jelly, hehe.

Like an idiot I bought 4 Pro Ethers, before I knew they gave a medecine effect, so I may be reselling those, lol

I'm not fighting him till the next Full Moon Darksday, which is like 9 or 10pm on 9/23/05, I dont know if Full Moon helps any but you never know...

Best of luck Onu, I've personally tried 6 times, and made plenty of mistakes ^^;

From these mistakes I've realized a few things:

Dark staff really does help with sleeps
Making Sleep II the first thing you do before buffs (and before his) could really save you some effort and mp
Macros are convenient, but make sure you've got them all down to not having to read them before use
Having one spell menu open to Sleep II right away comes in handy in case you can't find the macro (crtl-m and the "spells" menu on the fight commands)
Melee against Maat as RDM may be the biggest mistake in your RDM career :P (no, I didn't melee Maat, only considered it until I got Asuran Fists x2 after missing my sleep cycle ; ; )



I hope some of my mistakes can help you avoid them and others ^^;
 
I lost on my 4th run too, Fellina's method worked really well for me, I just forgot to heal myself after I converted ><, 2 or 3 more nukes would have done him in.

Also I went down to the Dome to solo Ruby for my test, again, but there was a group of people, none of which were RDM, and they were beating me to the claim, Dia was the fasted thing I had and well I really cant use Dia if I need to sleep him. I asked them if they'd give me the Test if it dropped, no answer. I hope this is just a one time thing and they arent gil sellers or anything trying to "monopolize" the quads down there (whats to monopolize? idk) maybe they were just skilling up though, and maybe I'm just worrying too much.

only one sleep resist and I didnt even have to use my vile elixir +1.
