I've met some real asshats in this game...

I'm just curious...

If Tuku's flag was up, he wasn't in a group yet. He may have said he had one lined up, but since he wasn't even grouped with them yet, I dunno if it would really be ditching them.

Is seeing a better XP option and choosing to take it wrong when you aren't already fully commited? (He had yet to recieve invite after 15 minutes? wtf)

Tuku's last response was kinda dickish, and I sorta got the feeling he was just saying he had a PT because he didn't want to deal with Celvantes after only a few hours earlier bailing on him. Once it started to sound more promising he joined up.

Thats what I gleam from the information contained in this thread. Ask yourself this: "How long is it reasonable to wait for someone to actually invite you to their PT after confirming you would join?" (Not as a replacement, but in the process of forming.)

Um.... while he was a jerk.... you exp for progress... not to get Honor Points or some shit... 15 min wait? I'd have looked for new within 10. I dont care if I was a Drg... No one joins a pt to be dicked around and wait on other idiots.
While his response was prickish, no one joins an EXPERIENCE PARTY to sit and twiddle your thumbs...... this is why I only join pt's as a replacement if I can help it... Higher chance for sooner disband but also better preperation, not so many people are still "fresh" so less problems and no stupid "oh our rdm is changing to blm....." -.- Sorry, I agree with the bard's decision, just not his attitude.

Not all of us.

Neyla, I respect you. Never met you, but you seem pretty level headed on the boards, unlike some people....

. . . says a Red Mage.

And it really doesn't surprise me you agree with him. Fact is, he was being a dick. Oh hmmm... another party is ready to go? Well fuck the party I just said I'd join, these guys will net me another extra 800 XP!!! Whoo-hoo!

Honestly though, the best parties I have ever been in, BLM, PLD, whatever, were made in Jeuno, starting with just a few core people discussing what they wanted thier XP to look like. Three people...

"Hmmm... a Warrior is seeking. What skillchains can we do, what mobs are we fighting?" Nah, lets chill for a little while and wait and see what else pops up. Anybody who is good at making parties that net great XP will tell you this is the way to go.

Sure, it may take an extra hour or so to get ready, but that's a pretty good indication that the party is going to stick together for a while, and there won't be any OMGGETTOCAMPGOTTAGOIN45MINS!!! And it's funny, that you guys are also the first to bitch about a bad party. If you're in that much of a hurry to get up and get XP, then save the rest of us the trouble in having to deal with your dumbass, shut the game off, and come back later when you've got the time to properly invest in the game. In the time it takes to get a decent party together in the right level range (within 1 level of each other) I'm never "twidding my thumbs." I'm contributing to the discussions of where to XP, what mobs to kill, how many people are camping there, AND I'm helping look for other members. There is nothing I hate more than forming an XP party, asking people where they want to XP, and nobody answers liek they are all AFK or they answer with the apathetic "idc". BOOT.

Yes, I agree, you XP to progress. And how much XP are you progressing while your replacement party disbands, and my party is still going strong? Not to mention, but relaxing and getting the right setup also allows you get to know your fellow players, and making friends along the way has helped my game progression 100 fold. And it also makes it a hell of a lot easier to deal with the grind. Instead of being in such a hurry to whore your job out to the "highest bidder", try that sometime. You'll be surprised at how effective it really is.

The guy said he had already been invited to the party, and accepted. We know where your honour, or lack ther of is apparently, but if dicking other "idiots" around to get what you want is how you want to do things, then I can name about a hundred 12 year olds you should make a LS with. You guys can enjoy yourselves.

You won't find bigger critics of primadonna RDMs and BRDs than other RDMs and BRDs. Everyone else might have something to gripe about with them when it comes to their attitudes, but people like myself and Uzor - who posted before about it - have to eat shit every time one of these idiots speaks up and gives our jobs a bad name, which is why I generally disassociate myself from most other RDMs. I can count on one hand how many RDMs I've met and actually respect, one of whom I already mentioned. They're dependable, they know their job and they don't take those fast invites (which eventually start drying up around 72 or 73) for granted. The primadonnas, once they show their true stripes, should be kicked for either 1) someone with a more grounded perspective, 2) another DD or 3) a naked level one tarutaru cooking mule loaded up with ingredients for Yagudo Drinks since they'd probably do a better job than 90 percent of the RDMs and BRDs out there these days.

Eh if I get two invites before I am actually joined a pt I will ditch the first if the second seems better. Of course this would have to be before I were actually invited via real means, not invited via /tell. Once I am in a pt I will stay in that one till it ends or I just decide I am done exping for that day. Of course as a RDM I can never find a replacment and I feel bad leaving so I often times exp till I fall to sleep ~.~

Also when we exp we exp to level not to sit around. I don't worry so much abot it so much anymore since I have adpted the new theory of "Fuck you I'll take my time" now. I mean once I am in a pt it is rare I go afk, yet other people do constantly. So me making you wait the 10-15 minutes for me to go out and buy soda so I dont fall asleep in the pt is worth it(honestly would you like me to fall asleep after 3 hours of pting or stay for the 6 hours ere together because I took 15 minutes to buy soda?)

Edited because I just butchered my explaination for the part above -.-

Also when people exp they do it to level not sit around. I don't worry about sitting around anymore though since I have adopted the theory of "Fuck you I'll take my time" recently. I mean once I join a pt it is rare I go afk so its not like I hold people up at multiple times like those people who go afk every few fights. Only time I go afk is to buy soda before we start, but me making you wait the 10-15 minutes for me to go out and buy soda so I dont fall asleep in the pt is worth it(honestly would you like me to fall asleep after 3 hours of pting or stay for the 6 hours ere together because I took 15 minutes to buy soda?)

Wow you people are stupid... Yeah let's blame your shitty experience on the fact I get more invites than you ever will as your job. So what? I pick the pt that will benefit me best, anyone who doesnt is a fool.
I dislike exping, I do it based on the fact it is required for progression, nothing more. There's nothing fun about hitting the same 8 macro's 10,000 times without any changes.
I dont join a pt to sit and fuck around while I could be in a better pt getting exp -now-. My play time is not infinite and have more enjoyable and some more necessary things to do rather than sit like a lump.
You whine I'd take a better pt... based on waiting 15min for some idiot? Yeah, I'd leave. Now if I was told straight up "Wait 15min for my friend?" okay.... its the fact some asshole changed job and took forever to do it.
Common sense says "next?" I dont care about anything except the exp coming in. Exp pting is to get exp.. that's all. You call it an "XP PT" not "SIT AND CHAT PT" You wanna make it KNOWN its gonna take a while? Fine.... I've waited 50min on a replacement before (pt in Valley Of Sorrows) The exp/hr wasnt great but it was a good pt..... How about those people who look for openings in PT's WHILE EXPING? I've seen it.. Blm in my pt left our pt (we had no whm so it was a tad slower than it could be) saying "sorry gtg *warp*" and seeing him exp not 10min later somewhere else.
I've never said "no" to a pt based on a setup unless it was absolutely ridiculous, and I've never bailed on a pt without damn good reason.
The person was an asshole, but so are you guys... so what? 90% of the people who even READ the FB are assholes.. this is a fantasy game to play not an ethics test.
The bard was right, the pt sucked. 15min to "change jobs" and from what came of it he didnt mention if any contact was established.
People whine EVERY day "been in this pt an hour and have yet to kill anything" yet I point it out, and because you see "RDM" omg must be a "that rdm" shut up and fucking think.
Logic: Get a pt with good exp/hr, not sit and chat about life.

You missed the point.

No one said you should. After calling me and the others who have posted idiots, you agreed with us implicitly. I said to stick with a party if they are communicating well about what they want, and not dicking around. You said the same thing. I said you shouldn't bail on one party just because there is an opening in another one that has the potential to net you more XP. You said the same thing.

Ell Oh Ell Way to go.

I can't believe some of you. What if everyone had the "I won't wait if I don't have to" attitude?

Almost EVERY party has some waiting time to get going. If nobody was willing to wait for a party to get every member required, and to gear up, no party would ever form, EVER.

Are you honestly telling me that you've never sat in Jeuno while looking for more members? While deciding where to go? While setting up skillchain and SATA plans? I thought some initial wait-time in the party was a reality of the game, and something everyone was willing to deal with ... simply by way of the fact that they were seeking at all.

It is never, EVER cool to ditch a party that you've already joined because you think fifteen minutes is too long to wait for it to fully form. Once you've clicked on that 'accept' button, you've made a commitment. You may regret not being able to take a more lucrative opportunity that came up later, but if you really wanted to "hold out" for something better, you should be willing to decline an offer from a party that's not at a level of preparedness that you desire. You don't agree to join a party on the condition that nothing better comes along; if you make the decision to settle with an offer, then the responsible thing to do is live with it. Provided you weren't victim to false advertising (or excessive, unlivable gimpiness/incompetence), you knew what you were agreeing to when you signed up. You do NOT just leave before the party's even started, because you like some other situation better.

That's just arrogant assery, and there's no arguing against that point. No, you may not join a party to "sit around," just like you don't generally buy a television to experience the hassle of getting it to your house and hooking it up. Some "sitting around," however, is usually necessary to get a party going in the first place ... just like you've got to deal with the irritating task of rearranging your entertainment center to get your new TV working. At least SOME people have to be willing to wait, or nobody would ever party. A few of you just seem to want to make sure it's the other members taking care of that before you deign to accept an invite, and never you.

lol obviously you guys forget what experience party means.
Not all of us can fuck around for 30 minutes before we actually go out to exp.

This is why "JP PT Onry" in JP /sea comment.
because of these fucktards that take so god damn long to exp and then disband in 1 hour.
you should be ashamed you even posted here.
Ethicly this is the wrong thing to do because you dickout 5 people.
But fucking christ, I forsure as a bard would join another party if the one I was in took that long to get started.
I dont want to be mean to anyone, but when its time for exp I want to exp and get the most I can.
did you ask him why he did do that?
Maybe he can only play 3 hours a day and wants to make the best of it.

The points that are being used against tuku is unrelated to whats actually happening.
You guys have time to dick around when you want to exp? go ahead.
dont get mad if someone else doesn't.

this is the dumbest and lamest excuse I have ever seen for the stunt Tuku did.

Commitment? are you fucking kidding me. his choice to join and his choice to leave. you join a poker table of 6, you cant leave?

Does he have to py child support too if he leaves?

try again...

Nah, I've had several JP parties with the exact same problem, so it's not that.

It's one thing because BRD and RDM are unfortunately a major foundation of most parties so they COULD easily hop from one party to another. But if you're a low demand job, such as SMN or DRG or MNK (pre-60 or somethin'), I think you'd probably choose to wait 15 minutes to find a 6th member as opposed to going back to seeking another 2h.

Hark, it's the fact they get near-instant invites that BRD and RDM would even RISK saying "screw this party" and leaving just for having to wait 10 or 15 minutes. Most other jobs may seek for HOURS if the person has a ton of free time, and to most people that little extra wait time is nothing compared to the seek time.

you are right though no doubt.

But I r around japanese and that's what they tell me.

Lack off communication is also a factor but its mostly that the NAs the party with leave as soon as they level or have to leave before an hour.

and for the rdm brd thing.
as monk I except even the worse parties its true, but hes a brd. Like I said, if your rich would you rather eat at a good restaurant or would you go to a expensive fancy restaurant after you been waiting in line at the normal restaurant for some time.

Not saying what he did was the right thing but his actions wont fuck him up in any way. he can and will always still get a party.

so it just matters how you look at it.

but what these guys are saying are horrible. he's no asshole or anything he just wants better.

What ... the ... HELL?

/sigh

You're trying to use a stupid poker game as a metaphor, and it's just not a very good one. In a poker game, you play for yourself, and nobody else. You're dealt your cards, you make all your decisions, and any loss or success is yours and yours alone. It is not an accurate comparison. Poker is directly competitive, between individuals, and a party in an MMORPG is COOPERATIVE. You're on a team.

A far, far better metaphor would be something along the lines of an amateur baseball game. You don't up and leave your teammates because you decide you like another team better. Well, pro-ball players do do that, but not mid-season, and CERTAINLY not in the middle of Goddamn game. -_-;

You keep throwing around words like "retarded," "stupid," and "lame" to describe the very common viewpoint of cooperative party-play. I don't see how you can have the audacity to call an expectation that someone will see a party through "dumb," and then have the gall to compare an experience group to a game of poker.

It's so far from being the same situation, they're not even in the same bloody universe.
