Seriously, I've played tons of shooting games. I can't tell head nor tail of guns. And if I were to go shoot people up, I probably wouldn't be relying on Counterstrike to figure out how to work guns.....
 
He'd have a point about video games teaching you a little about shooting guns if he would cite games that use a light gun; but he's equating pushing a button to using a gun and that doesn't even make sense. That's like saying you learn how to drive playing burnout or mario kart.

I out-shot a friend of mine who's been in the army for a year with pistols and I play light gun games all the time, while not using real guns often; so he might have something if he was to say those type of games "trained" you how to kill. He beat me by a small margin when we moved onto rifles and there aren't any good arcade games with a light rifle(although the sights were poorly aligned since it was a rental); so it could have also been I'm just a better shot that him more than the games.

That explains the look on my instructor's face. The advantage to playing racing games is you can see from the exact center of the vehicle. No such advantage in a real car.

If you drive a CLK-GTR you sit in the middle. Or an F1... both incredibly common for the average soccer mom to be driving.
 
Thank God he's a idiot though. If he would actually do some research or possibly discover Michel Foucault we might be a world of trouble.
 
I think it's easier to argue that video games reduce violence if anything. They give people stuff to do. And what would WW2 have been like if all the world leaders played Final Fantasy XI instead? Probably wouldn't have caused the deaths of more than 100million people.

Actually, the general rule is, if your shooting from more than 30 meters away, you aim for the center of the largest body mass, thus being the torso area. I'v never been in any of these shooting though, so I dont know what the general distance is.

But anyways, yes, this guys is disgusting. Im going to laugh when he dies by getting hit with a Playstation controller. Irony, thy name is Thompson.

Jack Thompson makes me sick, He's using Doom again as a theory for Cho's insanity and recycles previous events, I really hope someone takes away his attorney license and bans him from law for good! He cannot keep harping on about "Violent" games like this, taking advantage of these reports to feed his evil views. Jack Thompson has now made the top of my list of "Evil bastards" for life.

Anybody else see the CNN journalist interview the dudes roomate? He kept asking about if he played Counterstrike and the roomate just kept saying no. The journalist wouldn't stop for like, 5 minutes. That part made me sick. The fact that JT can actually influence more reliable media sources is just sickening.
