So...
1.) Plds have mp and should main heal and not tank, i mean they got mp after all..
2.) Brds have armor so obviosly they were ment to tank, i mean why else would they even bother making armor that brds could wear..
3.) WHM do get hexa at 220, I should get right on inviting them to sub nin and come as a dmg dealer..?
Its not narrow minded to expect someone to play a job for what it was intended for... its called common sense....
you're missing the point. the rdm he's talking about
DID do his job on top of meleeing. rdm's were intended to be fighter mages in the begining after all. just not the greatestin said role. just like how nin's got their tanking job, it the player base that has moved their imphasis(sp) to their mage side. as a 75 rdm myself i know this from personal experience. i wont do into the details for the sake or repeaing common knowledge.
Antor open your focus a bit will ya. you are putting all your attention on that one little word, "meleeing". the reason he started meleeing in that party in the first place, im guessing, is beacuse they were doing well enough for him to do it and not hurt their exp.
i also agree that rdm's shouldnt go to an exp party with the expectation of meleeing. but lets take into account what mobs we love to face.
keep in mind this is referenced from the merrit parties ive personally been in. those goddamn colibri for instance (the magic reflecting ones). a rdm is expected naturally, to refresh, buff, debuff, and back up heal. or main heal if he/she's the only mage in the party. if a rdm things they can do that while swinging a sword they're deluding themselves. but what if there's a whm in the party? rdm cant debuff (or nuke) cause he'll end up hurting the exp party with his own spells. the whm will naturally main heal and buff the party. and his/her's will be prefered cause they buff the whole group and not 1 at a time save haste. where does that leave our wayward rdm? refresh and the occasional cure. and given that 99% of merit party DD's go /nin the whm is never taxed heavily VS those mobs. in a situation such as this a rdm could pull out their sword, or knife, and melee and not hurt the parties exp. granted that this party will not get the bragging worthy exp chains but not everyone pulls of those types of chains ruteinly unless they are partying with familier and/or hardcore meriters.
the point im making is that, like the gear we carry around with us to consently macro in and out, this subject matter is situational. i've been in high calibur merit parties and low calibur. so has everyone else here. one thing i've lerned above all is never say never. and one more thing. can we please remove the parcer card from the deck of this argument. a blinded, slowed, paralized and bound <insert DD job here> will out parce a meleeing rdm wearing the best fighting gear he/she can possibly get.
we all know this. it redundent to even use in this argument.
