Well, Langly and myself are planning on flying out to Japan for two weeks in July. But we can't seem to find any discount flights from Canada. Anyone know any good sites that include Canadian cities in the online booking? Any help would be much appreciated.

Oh, and for those of you from the US that are looking for cheap flights to Japan, check out IACE-usa.com. Found it, but it doesn't include Canada. :(

Well with booking any flight, usually the more in advance the reservation is, the lower the price.

Are there any other major or other airports around you? Sometimes playing around with a booking site and putting in different airports may give you better rates. Sometimes the airport closest to home may not have the best deals (if the other places are within a reasonable driving/transportation distance).

Also try the different sites out and then the actual airline's website. Sometimes calling the airline directly gives you better rates than through services like expedia.

The price may be more expensive during a certain time of the year for certain places. If July is a popular destination in that time of the year, then there might not be any good offers around.

I am not familiar with Canadian travel sites though so the best advice is to try the legitimate ones you know of and then the actual airline site. If things work out, hope you two have a wonderful time in Japan.

If you want, I can put you in touch with my friend who went there this summer, and usually keeps tabs on cheap flights to and from Japan. Chances are you'll have to go through Vancouver, but I believe there are some direct flights to Tokyo.

If you end up doing any major traveling while in Japan, I suggest you look into getting a Japan Rail Pass (major traveling as in taking the shinkansen). It also works with subways, if my memory serves me right. I say look into it because a one-way ticket from Tokyo to Kyoto was about $125 when I went in the summer of 2005. <.<; Though it only cost about $8 to get from one end up Tokyo to the other via subway (don't take a taxi).
In regards to flights, I traveled from Chicago to Vancouver, then Vancouver to Tokyo.. same on the return trip. My ticket was around $1250 round-trip with travel agency fee included. Speaking of agencies, I'd look into ones in your area because they'd be able to help you out the best in booking flights and looking into them. Make sure to put in for your passport ASAP, too, unless you've already done so. And try to book your flight at least two months in advance (it's what my mother suggested, since she's gone overseas on vacation many, many times). <.<;

From Canada to Japan, im not sure. I have heard of some wicked deals from Yahoo Travel . . my friend somehow being able to get a roundtrip ticket for 500$ . . . still trying to figure that one out.

The most I can help with would be maybe for a trip back if u chose to do like a one way. You could check out http://www.FlightFinderJapan.com. I was able to get a round trip ticket to LAX in the States and back for about 700$ . . . this was scheduled about 3 months in advance though. And its not on some dinky airline or anything, im going through American Airlines.

And some added info on Elixer's post if u do buy a JR Pass, this website might help you get ur way around rather nicely.

Fair warning though, if i remember right, u cant use the JRPass for the Shinkansen (bullet train).

Yeah, I have my Hotel booked already since I found a good deal staying at a hostel. And we've got the Rail pass already on our budget. I just can't seem to find any info for Canadian sites. But I'll give these a try and most likely I'll just be doing a lot of calling since a lot of the airlines don't post the canadian flights online and want you to call direct.

Another thing I was thinking about was driving to either Vancouver or Seattle (Seattle only if i end up buying through IACE) then flying out from there. But then I have to calculate the gas and parking costs into that as well. But it may end up being the cheapest.

Living in Victoria, I find it easier to fly to Seattle (20 min flight) then fly where I need to from there because it's cheaper. Or get to Vancouver and leave from there.

You should definitely make Vancouver one of your stops. We'll meet up and get you nice and hammed just before you go through the security beepers. That way you won't be able to notice the SCUD I plant in your backpack so easily...

I bet you gonna get a copy of JP version of FFXI when you get there lol

Well happy traveling and make sure to tell us what you guys got there ^^

Hehe, If we end up going through Vancouver I'll make sure to hit you up Cmdr. ;D

I'd rather you knock me up, but that'll do.

I was never taught to share. ;)

I'll sign you up for a session with the two chicks in my avatar. They love to share, I'm sure they can teach us all a thing or two.
