Job Adjustments and Additions: Part II (10/21/2009)

Avatar's Favor (Lv.55 Recast Time: 5 minutes Duration: 2 hours)
Channels the avatar's power towards a beneficial status effect for party members within range. Reduces perpetuation cost while active.

Don't forget about the bold print. Stacked w/ other perpetuation effects might be able to certain avatars out a lot longer, or maybe infinitely in the case of Diabolos.

Diabolos' Favor might be a new form of extra Refresh for PT's if used correctly.

Ya but the former statement also probably will mean they'll be weakened

In some cases it wouldn't matter. Diabolos' Favor is Refresh effect, and at max potentcy can equal out to the same as a lucky roll on a Corsair's Dice. (3 MP/tick for those that don't know COR.)

Depending how long it takes to charge up could be very nice in say a tank PT, or a BLM PT, etc.

Even if it makes their attacks weaker it's still providing a huge asset to the PT, and at the very minimal the SMN could help the main healer back up heal the PT.

I approve of the BST update; it practically guarantees Courier Carrie uses Big Scissors instead of Bubble Curtain.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

EDIT: Cancelling AV event, unless we can 1000 needle it to death

You could use 1000 needle x3 if it only requires 3 Ready charges.

I'm honestly pretty excited for BSTs.

Speaking on the BST side only, some pre-use comments and/or expected outcomes, assuming level 75:

1. Pet jugs accuracy is shite anyway. Even the ACP and MKP items don't help -that- much

2. In situations where you can get enough TP per 2 mins, your target is usually too weak and even with Big Scissors it's not likely to help that much anyway (but I will spam Scissor Guard myself if farming); it's useful, to finish a mob quicker, but you'd finish it 20 seconds later anyway

3. In situations where you struggle to get 100% TP to even burn off a charge, your target is too strong and will kill your pet most likely before it reaches 100% TP

4. In situations where your pet isn't directly being damaged but you would like to contribute more, the Sabotender jugpet will most likely be the choice here depending on what it takes to use 1000 needles. Regardless, this pet only lasts 15 mins and if it takes 3 charges to use you have to basically spend 10-25k (I forget the price) to deal roughly 3000-4000 damage, assuming 1000-2000 is from DoT and the other 2000 is from 2 1000 Needles, otherwise for most of the population unless you're rich, you'll be doing an extra 3000 damage with CC (assuming 1 charge for Big Scissors and your CC surviving for a full 30 minutes with a 200 damage big scissors);

In a level 23-74 situation, assuming EXP parties and/or solo:

Powerful debuffs assuming no misses (Spore is awesome!), but as you're likely to be fighting stuff 5-8 levels higher, it'll most likely miss, or even resist. Charges can accumulate and used for next fight in between pulls or rests.

For solo, assuming grinding on EPs (it's very effective) then an extra foot kick or lamb chop or 2 now and then will speed up kills, a bit.

Lucki: True, if that is the case, but you also need 100% TP =(

Granted, the 30min recharge sucks, but you can still use a move pretty much right away.

So, if there's absolutely no detrimental effect to using Avatar's Favor...
why not make it passive?

So it's limited by status effects that prevent the use of JA's (like amnesia, in salvage etc.), and the fact that its a buff means it'll probably be prone to dispel. It'll probably wear off on zone / logout as well, which will stunt its effect.

Huh, haven't done Salvage in forever, could've sworn passives were restricted as well.
Oh well, yay for summoners. Go be invited to parties now.

I haven't seen a SMN in a tank party forever but who knows, maybe some still use them. I don't see PLD's struggling with MP too much to warrant a SMN, maybe for Dream Shroud's MDB effect as we have Phalanx II now as well. However, for BLM, this is amazing lol BLMX4 COR SMN GOOOOOO!

This update has a lot of potential.
It does however officially make Summoner a full support job now.

As honorary member of the 'Quite your crying!! Summoner is a support job not a DD movement', I'm pretty pleased with this coming update.

Watch, Big Scissors will require 3 charges!

Honestly I am very underwelmed by the BST "update" seems almost like a nerf to jug pets to me. Now I would have liked it if they just kept the random Sic along side of the new Ready so we would be able to use something while waiting on charges.

Time to get Fenrir and Diabolos, it appears!

So Yay SMN update, boo BST update if it's gonna work the way I'm thinking of.
IE all the "Good" TP moves will cost 3 charges, you use said move, you have to get back 3 charges, which will take 6 minutes, and you can't Sic since Ready replaces Sic.

Very pleased with the smn update! Very curious to see how much lower the AV perp will be.

Ha. Take that, "SMN is only supposed to be a DD" morons.

SMN part of the update sounds awesome, really looking forward to it.

Agreed with the other BST in the thread who say this is sort of lackluster.

While I definitely agree this is a step in the right direction, until we have relatively easily obtainable uncapped jugs with useful TP moves at 75 it's a bit of a waste. Until BST Affinity is capped CC and the the other very difficult to obtain jug pets are your only option (pretty much only leaving you with CC).

1 charge every 2 minutes seems a little long as well, 6 minutes to use Dark spore or Silence Gas? By then (during normal fight circumstance) your funguar will have low enough HP that you would have been better off spamming frog kick instead of Dark spore or Silence Gas.

Honestly, I'd have been happier if they added an NPC that sells the uncapped high level jug pets at a reasonable price, so they are always available even when a crafter can't be arsed to make/sell them on the AH. Similar to the way they have Funguar pets available at an NPC in Kazham for 12k a stack.

Hell, the update would have even rocked if they did away with the charge system and just allowed you to choose a move. Ideally, the way this should have been implemented is letting us choose the sic move on any pet we have every time the sic timer is ready.

Thinking about it though, this update is -sort- of useful pre-75. Definitely make the sheep pet more useful (being able to keep their berserk move up at all times in party situations would ROCK), and until the Tiger becomes capped at 63ish that'll be plenty of fang-spam.

Guess I sort of have mixed feelings, but it just feels like a big ole MEH for me. They took one of the best ideas the BST community has been talking about for years and found the worst way to implement it into the game, which I suppose is the best one can expect from SE lol.

We'll have to see how this plays out in execution and actual gameplay, maybe it won't be too bad. Damn SE, why can't you just give us another pet that we can easily get at 75 that has Double attack and good TP moves??? ;_;

The new wedding service is scheduled to start on November 18th (Wednesday).
Nov. 18th I believe!

I would bet for -1 Perpetuation on the buff, but even still that would help immensely.
