Future job adjustments were announced at the FINAL FANTASY XI Fan Festival 2006 held in North America, and also posted on the special blog found on the Fan Festival website. All of the changes mentioned will not be implemented during a single version update. Please be aware that depending on the results of various testing and balancing, several adjustments may take some time before making their way into the game, and we may even decide against implementing some of the changes.

So far I think the changes they want to implement are decent, and will help the game a bunch. I hold little hope for any decent changes to BST though. I think they'll toss us a bone like they did when they implimented the BST patch, but little more than that.

lol redmages, blackmage, and ninja are in the "to powerful"" cat.:banghead3:
I dont hate the update but dont really like it either. Though 1 thing wish they would do is adjust sword ws to be alittle stronger they are so weak compared to the other weapons, I hit higher dmg with my dagger then I do my sword.

That's because you're a red mage.

Company sword has the highest 1-handed base damage in the game.

They need to make vorpal blade 5-hit though :D

I'm just excited about the PLD auto-refresh. It will probably only be 1mp a tick but.... hell, that's something to look forward too, right? >.>

Meh, too bad thats just basically what they said at the Fan Festival. I got excited for some new stuff ;x

I wonder what is wrong with forming parties with one type of character? Warriors and Monks do it too. I even seen Summoner parties.

I'm glad they "haven't forgotten" the BSTs... /sniff

I'd be happy if they'd just let the uncharmed mobs stick around for a few more seconds before they despawn. That'd give me more time to finish off my target with a WS and then recharm.

Tsavi, it screws over all the less popular jobs >.> basically all DD besides mnks and wars and plds :X

I maintain that one of the easier ways to fix endgame subjob use is to put Utsusemi: Ni up to level 38... Would also fix a lot of that "soloing" thing that SE seems to hate too. XD

And I would laugh, and laugh, and laugh....

And you still wouldn't be as popular as NIN. Sky farming is your best bet for XP and merits. Most jobs that can solo - THF, NIN, RDM, BST - have abilities and stats that would allow them to do so without Ni anyway. (NIN, of course, would still have it.) It's simply a luxury. Avesta wouldn't be soloing the shit he solos anymore, but he's the only one who bothers in the first place.

The changes to Scyth inyrigue me. It is kinda lame that most Scyth skills, although devistating, just don't flow well with a party dynamic. It would help a lot, IMO, if they toned down the delay on them. Granted I haven't played Melee in close to a year now, but during my time a 500+ delay weapon was unacceptable to me. I'd like to see Scyth delays brought down to maybe Polearm levels. At their current delays they're just useless when compared to the TP generation of most jobs, especially MNK and THF.

When I first played Sam I was under the impression that the "Store TP" ability worked differently. I had always thought a Samurai could build up TP and choose to reduce TP to 0% by storing the accrued TP in a bank of sorts, to be used at any given time. I think that would be badass, and serve to radically separate Samurai from any other melee job. Imaging busting out multiple skillchains with multiple partners whenever possible, rather than just when Meditate is up.

not really you ever seen a thf or rng cannon they just as good. any job cannon can get mildly good exp in sky weapon camp with a brd/rdm/nin combo

Different topic, do try to keep up.

Getting rid of subbed Ni would have an effect on endgame, since with 6 shadows to blow through before they start taking serious damage, most melee with it feel nigh-Invincible. (pun intended)

As for soloing, while it would certainly still be possible to do so if you really wanted, it'd be a lot less efficient for people who relied on Ni in the first place.

Finally, something is being done about DRK's and their use of GSD only, THANK YOU GOD, I can finally use my scythe again if/when I come back in a exp maybe !! O_O it's a miracle!

Oh, and the PLD Auto-Refresh wewt :D

Regarding PLDs, shouldn't it be, along with Auto-Refresh, they get a massive change in DEF? People prefer NIN's because of the mass amount of damage they can just simply blink away, right? And this in return, (according to research), makes NIN's preferable because of the high amount of damage that is dealt towards the end game EXP monsters or NMs/HNMs.

Should there be a tweak, Auto-Refresh won't make much of a difference. It's nice to have, but really, a PLD's defense really needs to be boosted up to a point where it can match a NIN's ability to blink through damage. Where a PLD might take 150+ damage per hit, make their defense boost up -so much more- then it already is, so it drowns it to maybe like 50 or so. I mean, a PLD's a tank right? They're not being treated like one end game, which is a shame. I don't play PLD, but this is my view from what I have read.

This could simply be done, since they are advancing the use of sheild ablitys they could easily just add in critical sheild blocks (0 DMG taken) and since they'd be blocking more often, this would happen more often thus greatly reducing the amount of damage taken, and THUS adding the refresh ablity in there given the time to restore that hp that just got taken away with cures, making it a better tank. =)

One of the great things about warriors is their ability to use many different weapons. We are planning to add benefits to those who utilize this great variety of weapons.
This makes my pants bulge.

I got 5 more quested WS's to go... skillup static anyone?

Are you kidding me CMDR, I think we have been trying to put one of those together for a good year. The only person that I know that enjoys skill up as much as us is sneakypants.

I have great need for skillups... :o Staff & Club around 100, GreatSword around 150. :O

As for the Shield skill... Increased proc rate for PLD would be nice, increased damage reduction, etc. Though if you really wanted PLD to <3 shield, give us a JA that converted a certain % of the damage reduced to MP. XD
