With the long-awaited job emotes set to make their appearance in the upcoming version update, communication between you and your comrades promises to be more entertaining and expressive than ever before.

Today, we're giving players a sneak peek at what lies in store with a new promotional video! Feast your eyes on the complete set of twenty unique and charming gestures painstakingly animated to capture the essence of each of Vana'diel's adventuring professions.

Check out the job emote preview video!
*Final release version may differ from the development content shown in this video.
*Each job emotion must be acquired by completing a quest (minimum job level 30) before it can be used.
*Acquired job emotions can be performed at any time regardless of your character's current job or level.

Kinda scraping the barrel for things to excite people about an old game arent they? "Gosh we could have done something else but wait till you see all the cool emotes we've done..." give me a break, cant wait to see the slowdown in port jeuno when a few hunderd people all start spamming these daft emotes...

That is pretty cool. It's something they should have on a newer MMO not one as old as XI. Wait, why are people still playing XI?

Anyway, it's a good idea. The emote animations, at least some of them, actually look pretty impressive.

In the past year they've released new content, more equipment, another crafting system, new job abilities/spells, raised level caps... You're right. How dare they release something simple.

Because it's a significantly better game than its "successor" currently?

I can't wait for the influx of "Going Super Saiyin/It's over 9000" video's MNKs will be putting out...

Yeah, you know that's going to wind up inserted into someone's 120 line Boost macro.

Damn, and here everyone was hoping for a super awesome update like a functioning UI and like a ghetto AH function... oh wait, wrong game. How silly of me!

It's still not that great. Was at first, even lasted a long while of being fun. But that was back when I had a lot more time to invest into the game. Soon after I had a new job and far less time to invest I realized how restricted XI was. They may have made changes to make the game more short term user friendly (I don't know, just stating.) but it won't change all the other factors of game-play that are major time sinks with very little actual reward. You could easily argue that all MMO's fit that description, but XI pushed that to new levels. I did quests, not just mission quests, but npc quests in all the 3 nations.. so many quests. The best rewards I ever received were a few pieces of equipment that I wore for some early-mid levels and the rare spare change gil. Most quests didn't even have a reward other than completing the quest and getting an ounce of additional fame. I remember one npc quest in San D'Oria that was huge and involving and even had a pretty interesting storyline, it was rather difficult for me to complete at the time, but I managed. Zero reward for my hard work and time devoted. Now I'll admit I enjoyed the particular story but it alone was hardly a rewarding conclusion to time spent and the effort needed to complete that long ass quest. Hurray for XI. Half the reason I stuck with the game was not wanting to give up on the character I worked so much on, but there's a time where the game stopped being fun and I had finally had enough. (there were other factors that contributed to the final decision, but time consumption was a major)

I wasn't referring to it's "successor" which still has potential to actually be a "successor" at a later time. It's more like, MMO's in general that have a job class system. Having a special unique and pretty cool emote is a fun idea. I can only hope more games adopt something similar.

I don't know which job is the butterfly emote. I could account for all the others but I couldn't for the life of me figure out that one or which job I missed.

I might be biased but Drk and Blm both have awesome ones. I like the whm too.

I do agree. If I still played I would be enjoying these.

RNG (by process of elimination)

Ah, I completely forgot about Rng. Yeah, that makes sense then.

Yeah, the quest thing is one of SE's big failings with XI. They've hardly ever been able to associate sufficient reward with quests based on their difficulty, for reasons that are completely beyond me.

Though again, the Abyssea quests are typically pretty easy, and have reasonable material rewards. Though the randomness is, again, annoying.
