I finished leveling and I'm casually meriting my COR right now. That's the only 75 job I have. Now since there's really nothing left but waiting months at a time for lotting privledges on my final gear that cant be bought, I'm looking for a new job to level. Before I start this ~will~ be an opinion thread and please don't /emo over what other people say. There's no point in arguing over favorite jobs.

Anyways so far I've had experience playing a few jobs at 75 that were somewhat amusing but nothing has really kept me interested like COR did. Whats a good ADHD job like that? COR can pretty much fit into any small niche and work there, I can buff, DD, heal, mini-nuke, it all really depends on what I feel like at the time. Tell me what jobs you guys like and why it attracts you.

~Warning~
I will NOT level BRD, WHM, BLM, RDM, SCH, DNC at all. I know that limits the field a lot but those jobs are just boring as hell to me. Anyways the ones I've been considering are:

BLU-> Seems like you can fit this in almost anywhere for events and endgame. So this one appeals to me so far. Only thing I don't like is the fact that a lot of lesser skilled people level the job and drag down the chances of anyone taking it seriously. Not to mention the fact there's droves of BLU's running around.

MNK-> Not a lot appeals to me for this job but a few of the things I liked about it is I can do backflips(tarutaru ftw), Formless Strikes seems useful for endgame, and Hundred Fists with soul eater is just awesome(assuming you don't get yourself killed). I hate the fact this job really doesn't change much from 1->75 besides the addition of around 3 JA's.

BST-> I've been hesitant on this because I really don't see endgame use for it, but the job itself looks fun enough to keep my interest. That and I <3 solo abilities, and this job just speaks it.

Anyways don't feel discouraged, I want to hear your opinion on jobs so I can choose one reliably. Please give my your opinions on them and dont make it seem like the Grail of choices, I want you to honestly tell me the con's to the job as well.

Thankies ^^

I guess it comes down to what you like to do in the game. Other than what you listed:

If you want big epeen numbers, jobs like DRK SAM RNG or WAR are a ton of fun. DRG isn't about the big numbers, though it can make them, so much as the utility and fun factor.

If you want to be super useful (minus the jobs you listed), NIN is a great choice. Not only can you tank with NIN, you can DD, solo, and you get the taru backflip (I think, forget which ws it is).

PLD is a choice that you'd really have to commit to, because it's bittersweet. You're loved for parties up till 70ish, and after that you're in a constant fight for exp between low invites and endgame deaths. PLD/RDM is a powerful combo for Taru, and I'm not sure if you meant not even as a sub for that restriction.

Big warning. You have cor leveled. Do not assume that people will want you on any other job. EVER.

haha, that's true. granted, i ran into a problem in dynamis where I once had like...4 in the same run and it was way overkill and half of them were standing around.

Tsuku, I'll second what Tauro said about DRK and DRG. While yes, I am biased to Dark Knight as it's *my* only 75 job, I found it very rewarding and a heck of a lot of fun to level.

I'd say Dragoon would suit your needs for a fun job that can do high damage, that is fairly easy to solo, and still has a use in endgame, though. I only have mine leveled to 17, but I am intent on leveling it solo to 75 sometime.

As for DNC, even though you find it boring if you have it to 37 then it would help with any kind of soloing.

i have COR, but they never want it for sky kha T_T

you have to see what activities you do a lot. If you merit a lot, you probably get more invite on COR anyway. DRG can be very good and fun, both party and solo.

If you think you have what it takes to be better than other BLUs out there, they not gonna drag you down. If you really better than most are, people will remember you. BLU takes more work than MNK to be good. You will stand out even more in the crowd of BLUs if you are that much better than they are.

Does anyone else love it when a blu doesnt use spells that arent on your own blu?
PS. my blu is lv 13
IF you're going to try and choose a job get it to lv 30 or 40. The defining traits on a job dont begin to appear on a job until those levels most of the time so simply taking it to lv 10 tells you nothing about how you would like it at 75.
BLu doesnt have to engage to use spells so in dynamis IF the ls gives you enough refresh you can kill alot faster than the "normal" DD thanks to not having to wait on ws etc.

I'd do bst. Out of all my many 75's back when, bst was the one i loved the most. What you stated above is true that people stereotype'd Bst as a non-endgame job, but really our server most of all should have learned from past experience and demonstrations that bst is more than a viable job as far as endgame goes, and that people just need to give them an opportunity. Especially good bsts.

Just my 2g.

Chose NIN because... well, if you don't, one will sneak into your MH and kill your moogle.

DRK for the "EVERY SECOND IS MY LAST -- SOULEATER NOW!" macros.

I had massive loads of fun leveling DRG. DRG is also a very cheap job until endgame due to its lack of gear

I wouldn't recommend NIN tho most people I know hated NIN. I never leveled it on my char (that's also the reason I retired my WAR, I didn't wanna level NIN) I did level it from 30-37 on my friends char for 500k gil and I felt that I was cheated in that deal :/ my friend agreed.

Thats another great thing about DRG as long as you have /WHM there's no reason to ever DRG/NIN.

I would suggest Blu, pup, drg or bst. Blu and pup and do everything from be a tank, DD or main healer. I know in the dunes up through the jungles my pup in a party could solo upto a VT link. Drg is actually a pretty good DD, and you don't "have to" be in a party. I have had drgs play back up healer in a few 60~73 parties as well. I have about 5 guys in my LS leveling bst. They all sing it's praises. As with all jobs your skills will say if you are a good one or not. I know I have sought out good players when forming parties. They get my random tell going /ma warp <enter zone> party~ They all say yes because they had fun in the prior party.

Have you considered RNG? Marksmanship merits from COR would be a nice addition for this too.

If you're looking for a melee job i'd suggest SAM or DRK over MNK, personally i find these to be the most useful melee for endgame.

BLU is a powerful job and would be great fun to level i'm sure, if that's what interests you go for it. Don't worry about how others are geared or how they play the job just make sure you learn how it works use the best gear available to you and play it to the best of your ability.

Out of the three big DD melee jobs (war, drk, sam), I've only got war and sam leveled, but I'd choose sam over the other two. Though, the benefit of war is it can equip almost any type of weapon with decent skill, so they can change weapons based on an enemy's weakness (ie, Jailer of Temperance). War is wonderful for merits, but I think sam trumps war in end game events due to their skillchain abilities and tp generation.

I was going to suggest looking at rng, as well. Rng can put out some very big numbers, and is great for mobs that are usually kited. It's kind of expensive, but if you've leveled cor, then you already know what you'd be getting into.

Blu is super useful in things like Nyzul Isle and solo. The only problem is getting all the spells...

Of all my 75's, I think nin is my favorite just to play around on. I go as nin/dnc for solo. You get really fast attacks (tons of haste and enhance dual wield gear), a decent weapon skill (blade:jin and sometimes blade:ku), the full four shadows on ni, blind/paralyze/slow debuffs, and a high level of evasion. With /dnc sub, you really take advantage of drain samba with your attack speed, and healing waltz (at /35dnc) lets you remove almost all status ailments including silence and paralyze. It's a very powerful solo class because of the sub. /whm suffers due to the possibility of being silenced and having your spells interrupted. I have dnc at 75, and nin/dnc really owns it, mostly due to the evasion difference (I have capped evasion merits, too), as well as damage output.

NIN, BLU, and BST would be my recommendations if you like doing things in a party that aren't just Attack > SomeJA > WS > Repeat. NIN is alot of fun (imo) because it is one of the few jobs in this game that require you to have some sort of skill instead of just button-mashing. Of course, it pretty much blows before 37. BLU grants you the ability to do just about whatever you want, and though I don't have much experience with it, I've seen some BLU's be very useful in Missions and the like. BST is the most frustrating fun job in this game. You'll die, alot. You'll question why you picked the stupid job. You'll say the word "Fuck" more than you ever thought possible. Then you'll pull off a solo Chain 6 and be like "This is the greatest job ever!".

As for other jobs people mentioned: MNK (my personal favorite) is pretty boring. Formless isn't as useful in endgame as you might think it is because the recast blows. It sure is fun to beat up an invincible mob in Dynamis alone while your BLM's nuke it, but honestly I've had it for a long time now and have maybe used it a few dozen times for legitimate purposes. Plus side: It's not that expensive to gear up decently.

SAM/DRG/DRK/WAR: Fun for the numbers of course, but like MNK, going 1-75 with them probably won't be the most exciting few months of your life.

Do subjobs and decide. Get gear and level all sorts of jobs all around up to 37-40, as that gives you a decent idea (though I think that going to 40-45 gives you the best idea of how a job will play out).

This has almost always been a huge turning point for me. You can't imagine the feeling of being a RDM and first getting Convert and Refresh, a feeling like you could never run out of MP. I always enjoyed SCH, but once I hit 40 and got the AOE effect, it was crazy fun. Playing NIN and getting the Ni elemental nuke is another thing that got me excited; duoing a Taur in the Aqueducts with a WHM because I could fight it backwards.

Some jobs do have varied levels, DRK for example is decent until 60ish when you rip out your first 1k WS and get your ass kicked while giggling madly (I need to get back to leveling that <.<).

So really, even on jobs you -might- find boring, try leveling them to that point. If nothing else you'll get a ton of potential subjobs out of the way.

Well I started level BLU again via beastmen pet solo and I gotta say its holding my attention thus far. What I do for spells is get them in 10 level increments that way after a few days of cursing, I have a little while of happiness. And after pulling expchain#6 in lower D. Tower I have to admit I was a bit...overjoyed. Its fun to know most mobs die with a simple Headbutt->Bludgeon->Headbutt combo, but when I went into a party they were less than enthusiastic about me pulling hate.

I'll take BLU up to 37 and make my decision from there, but I looked into DRG (its 21) and...well right now its a bit "meh" but most jobs are at this level so I'll end up taking it further a little later. I heard it's nice to run in and pull off a solo skillchain as DRG/SAM and then shed the hate from it through a few jumps.

I looked into NIN as well. It was fun for a little while then I started to look deeper into it and thought to myself "Why do I get satisfaction in draining money like water through a bathtub?" I already have COR leveled and I dont need to through away more money lol. If I ever get a k.club drop, sure, I'll sell it then consider ninja, but right now I cant afford that kinda job. Not to mention I'm not thrilled at the less than spectacular drop rates for crucial pieces (I.e. O.kote and Sarutoba Fumas).

DRK I haven't even unlocked but if its really all its cracked up to be o.o with big numbers and slightly suicidal behavior, I'll definately(sp?) look into it.

Currently looking into: DRK, BLU, DRG

Lesser Interests: MNK, PUP(lolMNK with a retarded sidekick ftw), NIN

~and yes, I understand the consequences of my actions for leveling COR. Now that I look back I can only say "wtf was I thinking?" and smack my head against the wall. But...*sigh* its still a crazy fun job, regardless of the price tag~

THIEF is mad fun Fleeeee Wheeeee, and its always nice to have Treasure Hunter for the Gil.

This. BLU is an awesome job, and the fact that youre a taru is gonna make things even cooler because of your high MP pool. Asides from that, yes, good BLUs ALWAYS stand out and are remembered for their ability to take advantage of BLU's versatility. This is my top recommendation little buddy

it seems you're looking for a job that isn't support which is fine, but if you level blu just realize its support function as a healer, enfeebler and such is still there but not the primary function of the job as you get higher into it.
