Because I haven't seen this officially posted on allah or mysterytour thought I'd share this because I always wondered. Mysterytour says something vague about it.. maybe I just missed it though.

Question: Do merit point enhancements carry over to other jobs at lower levels?

Data collected so far:

Used 1 merit point for MP+10 on 75 blm. MP also increased by +10 on both 38 WHM and 37 RDM.

I was also told by someone that after level 30 the merits are fully carried over. Does anyone else have data concerning this? I have not done any stat upgrades and don't intend too, but has anyone tested this?
 
Job specific merits don't kick in unless you have a level 75 job. For example, I could not put merits Convert recast timer so make my lower level RDM convert at 9 mins (example), unless I had a 75 RDM.

I personally have put 3 merits into Marksmanship, and have noticed those stats carry over on my THF and WAR etc. So you can merit some things for lower level stat boosts, but job specific merits can't be utilized until your job is @ 75

I also belive, but im not sure, that one merit
in each category of the none job-specifics
activates per 10 lvls.
 
I 'll test that when I do my next mp upgrade... I figured thought that the job specific don't carry as that wouldn't make too much sense, but interested to see if the skills, attributes, etc carry fully or not. OR if its a every 10 level thingy like mentioned.
 
All but job-only merits move on to the others.

As for MP, the MP enhancment start at level 10. And for every 10 levels another merit kicks in

this is correct.

if you do 2 mp enhancements (10mp each) you would get 10mp bonus at lvl10, and 10 more at lvl20 and so on.

Does this work for jobs that do not have inherent MP? For example, say I merit a +MP trait, will my Bst/Whm see that +10mp as well?

yeah, i have 20mp on my mnk/war and nin/war just from the mp merits.... so you can use gear that converts mp>hp and it works:)
 
So if u put full amount of merit points into mp on one job could u put more into mp on another job?l
Or do the non job specific ones count for all jobs.
 
Non specific jobs count as all jobs, if you put merits on let's say, Sword with your whatever lvl 75 job, you get them in your lvl 1 SMN even if you can't skill up swords.

For the specific merits they only apply totheir jobs, and for another obvious reason, you can't raise merit points on a job that is not 75, I can't put merits on Convert timer let's say, if I'm BLM 75.
 
But... you could go out with a limit pt as your blm 75 say, and then merit divine skill on your whm?
 
Yes, because Divine Skill is not Job specific, so to say.

Job Specifit merits are like this:


BLM:
Ice magic potency
Fire Magic potency
.....
Elemental Seal Recast

WAR
Double Attack rate
Berserk recast
Aggresor recast
....

Divine, Enfeebling, Elemental, Enhancing, Summoning, Healing are non job specific.
 
Actually, you cannot merit anything that your job cannot use. So If you have a 75 blm, you cannot merit Divine magic, or Ninjuitsu, since your job can't use them. I was more than a little annoyed when I found out that I couldn't merit hand-to-hand skill on whm.
 
Could you Merit Berserk on a Lv75 WAR for example then switch to lower lvl DRK, sub WAR and still have the effects of the Berserk Merits?
 
No, anything job specific only applies when that job is 75. That means you also don't get those berserk merits if you take your 75 war into a level capped area.

As Bajaratt said. You'd have to have a 75whm as well for this to work, since your merit points are saved until you decide to use them for whatever 75 job you decide.

a blm75/nin37 can use Ninjuitsu just fine.

Yes, but your main is BLM.... no Ninjitsu skill, therefore no Ninjitsu Merits....
