For those of you who care about the Kaizen reply, here we go.
First of all, I'm sorry NH got so upset over this incident, we in no way were doing anything with ill will. Ever since Lucifar got Tiamat to 1% on a weekday night (even though they wiped to spike flail at that point) we as a shell have hounded the spawn. We check it multiple times every day when the window is open, we intend to kill it when it spawns, not when someone else goes for it. On this particular day our original plan was to gather for it at 6-7 pm est, when we expected to have the numbers. 6 pm est rolled around and NH was there, so we delayed it as long as we felt comfortable before we felt we'd lose members to work/school the next day.We were kind of hoping you'd be happy for the 4 hours that we did give you, but obviously that was wishful thinking.
We felt that if Tiamat was not killed before we went to bed, Lucifar would kill it before we would have a chance the next day, and what other NA shell would want to "reserve" Tiamat for 12 hours the next day, who knows. This was nothing against NH, if you managed the win most of us would have been happy for you. However our own history shows us that the likelyhood of that occuring on that night was extremely low, allow me to explain. Tiamat works in 4 tiers. The first tier, which it seems you guys have about figured out is the simplest, 100% hp to 50% hp. Mistakes can be made, recovery is simple. The second tier, 50% to 10% is pretty much the same fight except that Tiamat spams mighty strikes, and a mighty strikes double attack has the potential to one shot any tank in the game pretty much. One mistake can result in a tank dying. The third tier becomes exponentially more difficult from 10% to 5% as he starts spamming tp moves more. Finally the fourth tier from 5% to 0% is constant meditate, and constant tp spam, hate and mp are extremely difficult to manage. Considering our track record against him as a shell, once you've gotten him to 5%, you're about halfway done with figuring out the fight.
Fast foward to after we've gathered at Tiamat, currently engaged by NH. The order is given in the ls to wait until Tiamat is unclaimed and at full hp and then to claim and engage. At somewhere around 50% hp we see that it gets CFH'ed. All hate was lost and Tiamat began to regen, CFH wore off at around 70% hp. At 97% we're all about ready to run in and it got claimed by someone named eternalangel (not our shell). At this point we saw several shouts or says, I forget which, from maseki telling everyone not to fight it, there weren't enough tanks up. Eternalangel died, Tiamat lost hate again, we took our que and engaged. At this point we were bombarded with says, shouts, tells, you name it. Everything from being called "greedy assholes" to maseki shouting that we'd be mpk'ed when Tiamat was at 1%. I'm sorry to say but our sympathy level was non existant by that point.
Our policy with Tiamat is simply this, it is a HNM. HNM's are not subject to schedules, they do not show up whenever you'd like them to. Some day other people, maybe NH, will be able to kill Tiamat and we will have more active competition and it will feel more like the other HNM's. I will admit that we have a luxery in being one of the few shells that can kill it, but it's not like we didn't work for it and earn it. We even had to wipe to all our crummy ideas first to figure out what worked, which the rest of the server can now simply copy. We're happy to see good shells and good people improve, but if you want to get us to spare a few hours in the future, namecalling and mpk threats aren't the way to get there.
