Strid, that post really didn't make much sense. Maybe it did to you, because you knew what you were talking about. I've never heard a Satanist being referred to as a sadist, anyway. I just call them idiots >.>And why are you defending them? Sadists are people that enjoy hurting others, I think named after the Marquis de Sade, or something like that... and it's "Au contraire"... ^^

And what country do you live in ?

So because some follow a religion not based on Christianity in any way they are idiots...gotcha  hypocritical christians gotta love them

I never defended a TRUE sadist. Yea, did a double take...never did it.

I live in Puerto Rico, do you see it? It's under my avatar... I know more English than most people in FFXI, so don't use that as an argument...

Satanism isn't a religion, it's a sect. And whoever reveres evil is an idiot.
And, you're defending sadists... sadism, without capital letters, NEVER IN MY WHOLE LIFE have I heard about Satanism being referred to as sadism, some forms of Satanism are sadist in nature, but not everything sadist is Satanical.

And you said what I said in a general way, I'm not calling Buddhists, Jewish people, Hindus, or anyone else an idiot, just Satanists... In other words, just because a person doesn't believe in Jesus, doesn't mean he's an idiot. I never said that.

And why hypocritical?

I'm a Catholic, not your average "Christian", and I have a right to defend my religion and also a duty to denounce evil acts. And don't ask me about where I got that idea, because it'd further prove your ignorance.

Answa~ said:

Well, to be fair to Satanists (I'm an atheist, and very tolerant of all religions, even if I think some are a bit silly), they don't claim to actually revere evil, they claim to revere hedonism. If you believe hedonism is evil, then there ya go, but they don't.

Answa~ said:

That's fine call me ignorant but as I see it you are the unrealistic thining ignorant one. I guess it works both ways as opinions tend to do. My point on where you are from, and yes smartass I do realize you are from PR I just wanted to make 100% sure of it, you don't know what I, in America, have heard in words to descript Satanist. Wether they (the words) are right or not matters not. Like I said the word "cool" is often used wrong here in America but its a general use that many people still know and go by. Same goes for most anything including things to describe the act of worshipping the Devil. As for you and Wonko not comprehending my last post and insulting my intellegence to me it's all clear. I did rush it however, I just reread it...it looks fine. You guys not understanding it, I think, it goes more into not agreeing than anything...Also, Wonko, anyone can post a site up and charge people to pay. Just because you have to pay to join that site doesn't mean it goes for the whole religion. However, when most people gather for mass, a sermon etc don't they usually tend to give money to the church, or whatever? I think they do and compaired to giving offerings I think $200 is getting off the hook a good bit 8) .

As for my comment on you continuing this argument Wonko , whatever I said, ? I admitted you right and you keep on so...

Now to end this...What I've said is my opinions and stuff based off my common life of dealing and/or being around different religions, things, and people. What I'm told or hear may not be the same for either of you. I've noticed throughout all my moving every place has its different set of words and speak if you understand what I mean. People say different things in Gorgia as opposed to California as opposed to Texas etc. etc. I say my experiances. I basically said I was "by the book" wrong to Wonko and it still continues. So just stop. There is no need to go on with this..unless you guys want a cookie :?:

As for the topic of this thread I'm not defending either of the two for their actions. Maybe if you knew where I was comming from in the very beginning you would be able to see why I said what I did.

Anyway, I'm punching out. I don't have any more time to go back and forth on this topic 'cause I could talk for hours on religions and whatnot....

Nevermind.

Added Info

Well, to get things a bit back on topic, here's what's actually going on. It was discussed on the news, which I missed because of my Champions of Norrath static group, but I did manage to pull it up on the net.

All of the restrictions that she is facing are listed there. They are active for a year. After that, she has to return to court for new restrictions. If they're greater or less than what she has now is to be decided depending on her behaviour.

This should be interesting to say the least.
In the sense that a lot of this seems voluntary. It'll be interesting to see if she sticks to her restrictions.

Strid, you're rambling. Please stop.

Please tell me what the Crown is... O.o

I know in the UK area there is a system or organization (not sure what the proper term would be) called Crown. It is a criminal prosecution service. I know Canada has some of the same governmental ties as the Euro countries so maybe it's that. However, as the text reads in some parts it made me either think it was a news paper/station title or something like that. Overall I'm not sure though but interested to know ,factually, as well.

I believe "the Crown," in the context of the article mentioned before, refers to the Canadian gov't (as in, the prosecution).

The Crown

Well, not knowing how to put it accurately myself, I went to the best source (out of my IRL friends) for politics that I could possibly find.

And I quote:
"The crown represents the monarch, the holder of justice, so basically the government. In the US, they refer to it as "the state" as in the state versus whomever except here it's the the Crown versus whomever."

I hope that clears up what it is.
It sure did the trick for me.

Edit: He also adds "Our justice system shadows that of the UK." just for a bit of historical background information.

My personal feelings?

Take 'em both out back behind the courthouse, put a bullet in the back of their heads (use a .22 hollowpoint, bounces around inside the skull, no exit wound, very clean), dump the bodies in a mass grave and toss in a sack of lime after them.

I've long failed to understand the nature of "justice" as practiced in the so-called enlightened nations. Someone is guilty of murder, so you lock them up. Why? To punish them? Short of inflicting gruesome tortures on them every day, I fail to see the effectiveness of punishment via incarceration. The justification that really blows my mind is "Because they're not safe to let out". If they're not safe to let out, then they're not safe to leave IN.

So yeah, in my book, murder should be punishable by death. First and second degree murder alike. "Crimes of passion" my ass. If you have that little control over your actions, you should probably be put down on general principle.

The one that always really blew my mind was the fact that as a general rule, ATTEMPTED murder is punished much less severely than the successful variety. So basically, the typical justice system rewards incompetence.

Incarceration as a deterrent has failed. Due to the way it's carried out, sadly, so has execution. When someone can spend 10+ years on death row, the system has failed. Hell, when someone can spend 10+ WEEKS on death row without a damn good reason, the system has failed. When the sentence of death is so rarely used and even more rarely carried out, it's just an effectively empty threat.

I'm rambling a little, probably because I'm rather tired... >.>

I suppose one aspect of what I'm trying to say is that I don't believe in incarceration as punishment, and that by its very nature it fails as a deterrent. My own preference would be to bring back public floggings (which were not considered "cruel or unusual" when the US constitution was written) for most minor offenses, use the death penalty (swiftly and universally carried out) on capital offenses, and rehabilitation after punishment for crimes that fall in between.

I don't agree Raesvelg, the death penalty should have never even started. You're committing the same crime you're accusing someone of doing, so you, too, must be killed, then those that kill him, and then no one would be left.

Incarceration is a good method, but not the way it's being carried out. Birthday parties? I'd take away all calendars, lock them up in dark cells.

Federal Jails have cable... I mean, come on. I have friends that are good people and have NEVER had cable, why should our scum have cable? They also have air conditioning there... WTF? They should do what they used to do, make them build the schools, prisons, everything that's government, make them do it and not pay them a cent.

You say death penalty is bad however, you need to realize one thing...In America we pay (those of us who work) for these worthless rats to live if they are in jail. Our hard earned money (by way of taxes on paychecks etc.) go to house these people and whatnot. Death penalty should be forced more often imo...I pay for these worthless people to live and live an unproductive life in a cell only to die a nothing. If they killed, off them. If they attempted to kill, off them. If they stole, beat, raped etc cut their hands and dicks off and rock um with a lousiville slugger and place them back on the streets. Pieces of shit. Also for fraud and thigns of the like (crimes with money)...take everything they have and make them live the life of a bum forever. They need to get more creative...

As for them building schools etc.. you know why they don't do that anymore? Because they sucked at it...They are lazy, slow, and by many human rights laws now probably unhumane they lift a finger (softies). It's sad yet true that it's cheaper to pay a Mexican to labor (in TX) than a prisoner. Also, schools are not as much government work now as they are mostly payed for with city money generated by city revenue(at least in TX anyways). Alot of your shitty towns are prolly government funded but it's also highly unlikley there is a near by prison, or even one in the county for that matter, capable of supplying the man power and skills it takes to currently build schools. Times have changed...it sucks that they live so soft in prison....

Wow, I have'nt checked this thread back for a bit, got busy and all. But I am certainly glad that some people knew about the story and that it generated a discussion.

As someone pointed out, they have established a list of restrictions she will have to follow for a year and then come back for evaluation.

And yes, Crown = State in the US prosecution system.

As for Strid.... geebus, a post that took me 20 minutes to writte and you point out the use of the word sadistic, rambling about how I may be refferring Satanism???? Good god man, get out more!

Saddistic, it's an adjective that describes my opinion versus a subject, namely the secret. I think the secret they have, their actions, were the act of sadists, hence the qualification sadistic. Maybe you don't agree, that is fine, just like we may not agree on what is beautifull or not. But still, don't put words in my mouth with your Satanism crap.

Oh and by the way, I speak French, so WHEN I misuse a word, gimme a break. Let's see you writte the same thing in french.

Well, there's what now? 2 weeks left? Raesvelg, carefull for what you wish for! :) Just kidding, but she did receive a lot of letters threatening to kill her when she gets out. I just hope this is not the reason why they put some of the restrictions they did, to somehow "protect" her.

Finally, as for the movie, it will be released in the US first, then approved by the familly of the victims prior to being released in Canada.... I am sure no one will downlaod it from the Web before that..

Ya been there done that  you're a bit late. Learn to read before you flame. However, unfortunatly, I don't have time to mess with you.

You never seem to have time for anything, Strid. :P

And that was just a suggestion. Your ideas about killing them and cutting them up are, oddly enough, sadistic. As I said, wronging them would be ironical for the government, and highly hypocritical. Lock them up, don't let them see the sun or anything living, make them know how wrong they acted, but don't mutilate.

And I mean hypocritical because, how can you accuse someone of manslaughter, and then cut them up? Oh, you killed someone, let me kill you!

But, I don't know, maybe these suggestions are inhuman, too. We need to figure out a way to make them actually pay for their actions. Deny them any rights. I mean, they didn't follow a set of rules, so they must not like the rules, so let's give him a change in living. This is a delicate matter, they did do wrong and should pay, and nothing soft and stupid.

~ Also, on the Homolka case, she shouldn't be allowed to be free, doesn't matter what deal they made. What she did was inhuman. ~
