Ok so right now i use 2 katana on NIN (obviously):
72 Senjuinrikio Dmg: 25 Dly: 227 Latent Effect: DMG: 38 Critical Hit Rate: 6%
70 Fudo Dmg: 39 Dly: 227 Critical Hit Rate: 3%

My latent effect on senjuinrikio *is* unlocked. So up until this point I have been main wielding Fudo, secondary wielding Senjuin, because of Fudo's higher DMG. Last night Ugotjacked /checked me and asked why i didnt main wield Senjuin for the higher critical hit rate (for blade: jin). So now the question: NINs out there, which is more important in your main hand, higher DMG or higher critical hit rate? Any opinions or insights are appreciated. ^.^

it is my understanding that the crits from jin are calculated by the first hand... i have had better results main handing senj... when i used senj/fudo or fudo/senj..

Senj main will yeild higher Jin dmg. 3% extra crit > 1 base dmg.

Silfer pretty much summed it all up right there. Combined with some crit merits and the natural high crit rate NIN has, you'll put out some respectable WSs.

While yes what Silf said is correct, I would highly reccomend you testing it out yourself to decide which gives you the best output and by how much. If you do not have access to a parser, then find someone who does. Compiling your own set of information rather then reaping what another has tested is far more rewarding. You will enjoy the end result more.

Normally, base damage would win out, but in this case the difference is only one point, which is why it's better to main hand Senj for the higher critical rate.

The question you need to ask youself is if 1 DMG will really do that much of a difference on your Jin's compared to 3% higher critical hit rate.

I can help Imbris with that. He is leader of my ls and we have people now high enough to do a pretty nifty kick ass party. The trick is to make everything the same, then change one thing only. That way you can make valid judgements.

blaze you newb ; ; why reparse history ; ; senj/fudo > fudo/senj end of story!

Because you don't learn anything from it? There are quite a few bold statements made by people who don't know a thing about parsing or at the very least, statistical analysis. They take a few fights and make a basis without anything beyond a few numbers. I've seen parses where the results are somewhat misleading. Outside influences have a huge effect on performance and large sample sizes are needed to smooth out any outliers. On parses where the difference is huge, often a large sample size is not needed and the answer is obvious, but there are times when the parses are within a certain limit and a larger sample size is needed. A single DA or TA during a WS can throw off the data enough to suggest a certain result when it may me completely false. Not saying all parses are like this, but there are a few who post things completely ignorant of what the results may or may not be saying. The best way to alleviate that is to do it yourself. It's really not a huge effort either, most people have the weapons/armor and need the experience so what's the difference in spending a few moments running a parser to get the precise data you need?

1. He was being sarcastic.
2. This particular parse has been done a million times. If you're actively researching your job, you've gone and looked through past parses.

I think you're being a little contradictory. If the parse has been done a million times and proven, you're not going to suggest someone to do it again which would have been implied if he was being sarcastic.

I am just saying not everything is proven (there are a few instances which this is true, this case it may not), but the OP stated having both weapons and wanted to make the best of them as well as several people suggested experiencing together. So she has the gear and need for experience, the only thing else would be the effort to get a parser and start it which is minimal at best. It's not a huge deal to do it yourself even when the information is readily available. It gives you experience into parsing, a greater understanding of what to look at as far as results/data goes and how it effectively changes the data. If she was to go on your word alone, she would have learned nothing. If she parsed the data, she'd find that 3% criticals is greater than 1 Base Damage, but not just that, she'd find almost exact amounts as well. She'll have exact numbers which she can then use for future parses. Maybe SE adds new katanas or perhaps Imbris has other things to parse of a similar nature which she can then use the information to at least give a good idea how the data will turn out or if she felt like it and was sure of the outcome due to this parse, she can neglect parsing altogether.

> .> AN ON topic question here.. Does Crit% stack? and does it stack with W/S?

The 1. He is being sarcastic meant it was just neo talking to blaze. 2. The Topic is Senji/Fudo or Fudo/Senji. This has been done a million times. If you want the answer, you can find it. I did a search on KI and had my answer in 2 minutes. The question is only on these 2 katanas, not on parsing different gear sets. The answer to the OP is what others have stated, and yes, there is no need to reparse what has been already proven. You're not gonna find anything earth-shattering here.

Just to let ya know

Imbris plays on PS2 and doesn't have access to parsing or internet most days, so isn't hugely used to the ways of 'search' etc.

Think he got the answer he needed.

You're missing the point. I remember middle school, we did an experiment which confirmed the conservation of mass. Our professor at the time could have just said "Conservation of Mass" and stated the law in it's entirety, but I wouldn't have learned much, would I? The best learning tool is actively doing something yourself. Now, I understand it's just parsing two weapons; however, it can give insight into other parses. For example, I want to parse a new katana with similar stats to the previous weapons I have already parsed. Even before doing that, I can check my parses and make a clear distinction as to which will be superior based on trends in the data. If I looked at the parses I made, I'd realize, the Senju is responsible for X increase in WS damage and the DoT should be the same since nothing changed, just the positioning of the weapons. I can then make the distinction that 3% crit vs. 1 base damage makes +X damage. So if I had a weapon with 40 base damage, I can make a guess as to whether it would be better than Senju without parsing. This is great for when a weapon is really expensive and I don't want to purchase it without knowing for sure I want to use it.

Crit% on a weapon only counts for hits from THAT weapon.

Should note there are critical hit gear (that piece from assault which name eludes me) and it does stack.

I've tried both, and Senj in the main hand performs better as far as Jin Dmg.
