Katana question.

Given the much lower skill and the much higher dps of 2 katana's, I'd doubt it. About the only reason I would imagine they would do it is to help someone on ws points when there's no samurai around.

Only time you'd want to wear another weapon would probably be daggers against things strong to slashing and weak to piercing =/

What if you have Higher GK skill then Katana? I think mines is when I am sam. I could of saw it wrong though, 8/8 GK merits
 
I know this katana wasnt mentioned in the list, but dont forget about good ole Mamushito +1. Couldnt tell you how many times it has saved myself and others from death or other bad shit from happening.

Id say if your going for dd katanas (seems most nins do these days) get Senju/Fudo. I use to use double Fudos back in the day, then i switched one out for a Mamushito +1. Same delay, one less dmg, and can stun, why the hell not right? Once you hit lvl 72, try using Fudo/Mamu +1, im sure youll probly have 2 Fudos at 70 so try swapping one out. Every NIN has his/her preference, im a Senju/Mamu +1 kinda NIN.

On a side note double stun katanas are nice in ballista :p

Unless you're very low level, I doubt your GK skill would ever be close to your katana skill. Nin has what, a C rating in great katana? Even with 8 merits, the sea torque and bushinomimi, I don't think it would beat normal unmerited katana skill. Plus, you'll do significantly more damage over time with the katanas, so damage wouldn't be a factor.
 
I hated mamu's with a passion, even soloing limbus I prefered more DMG katanas. Idk, personal preferance I guess. Stun fucks up my timing with shadows more than anything else. With all the evasion skill and haste gear nowadays, keeping shadows up has become more and more easy.

Senju/unji for overall performance imo, unsho/unji if you wanna do about the same/slightly more dmg and attack uber fast, senju/fudo for the cheaper but still effective route. Mamu's to piss people off in ballista.
 
I love my Mamushito +1's. I never leave mogHome without them. (Alongside my Senj/Fudo.) But yeah. I use them more in Ballista. And well... I'm a ballista nut so I get good mileage out of them.
 
Don't forget your mamu's when you're tanking Charybdis too, foolish japanese ninjas wiping to Chary because of this makes me laugh a hearty english laugh.

I think in the dunes to quifim levels are the only time that one can justify using Greatkatana on ninja. This is mostly cause until lv 25 dual weild's effec is negligible and none of the katana have a higher dps/dmg rating as high as the lv 12 +1 gkatana. Tachi:enpi is also stronger than blade ect as a ws.

lol seriously? If you need mamu's to tank chary, you've got problems.
 
I use the Senj/Fudo combo and haven't been outdmged yet by a unsho/unjo combo. This is not to say my katanas are better, but that the ninja that goes for u/u combo before getting other gear like the haste hands and good WS swap gear will be worse off.
 
I see a Mamu as an added bonus to what i already have, like i said, every nin has their own preference.

dont need stun katanas for that. just need to not suck ;)
 
I also went 1/1 on hototogisu >_>

I personally use senj/unji for merit parties, and keep a pair of mamu+1s for dynamis/limbus/solo/ballista.

I noticed a bit of a difference over senj/fudo, you attack noticeably faster and the damage decrease from the lower base damage isn't really noticeable. Go senj/fudo though if you don't have the 2m(at the time I bought it anyways) to blow on unji.
 
I went 2/2 Hoto when I helped Stou with his then popped mine for fun... ^^;

And hey, just because a katana is cheap doesn't mean it isn't good. Same could be said about a lot of weapons/armor, really.
