Not really. Fish botting has an effect on all other fishers, the amount of gil in the economy, how much you're willing to spend on gear with the gil you didn't earn etc. Tell Hali that fish botting's A' Okay after he's spent so long working his ass off getting his Lu Shang and spending hours upon hours fishing in order to earn his Nobles. Tell him it's okay that someone put no work into it and got the same results he did, just because fishing is 'boring'

I'm sorry but your logic is flawed.

well it might just be how I think. I don't really care about the market. I don't level my crafts so I can just make gil or whatever. I level my crafts so I can use them and make my own gear. I don't care about gil in the game. Hell, leveling a craft I barely buy any materials unless they are only from an NPC. Most of the time I go and farm my materials and level a craft. So if I was gonna ever leveling fishing it'd be to fish up fish I'd use. Granted some craft materials you can't farm and have to buy but that's usually what I'll do a BCNM for. hell, I try to do BCNMs with friends only so if a crafting material drops I can get that and they can just not give me a cut of the other drops or whatever it might be.

and Tagrineth hit that on the head. It was only people selling fish to NPCs. That's where the biggest money did come from. It's changed now but as far as I know fishbots don't work anymore (atleast, I know of none that works with this system now)

How does bringing it to HLNM camps constitute as "Logging in to level his ninja"?

I find it really hard to believe that a lvl 73 BST that is willing to pay you 10 mil to get a job to lvl 37 can't afford a warp cudgel, and wouldn't have one on him.

What aren't you understanding here?

Situation one.
I log in to find a Darter being CFH'ed. Being the good samaritan I am, I charm a pet and put it on them. They escape. Darter links and kills me. No time to use warp cudgel.

Situation two.
I start lagging out (running 2 windowers at once can be laggy at times). And I run into a cluster of steelshells. When I alt-tab back to the window, I'm dead.

Are we clear?

Why were you playing his BST the second time? and why did you log out on his BST in the tree?

He logged out on the tree. He did still use his account occasionally, obviously.

All the times were accidental. The most recent, one I was lagging out and was on autorun and ran into a steelshell when he was in Boyahda tree. The other time I logged on and found a party that CFH'ed a darter, they escaped and it linked and killed me when I helped.

Here you say you ran into only one steelshell...and next it was a cluster? :S Even if it was a cluster, tame and charm should have saved you. And you can't say that you don't know how to use them if you did the good samaritan thinger with the other people. XD

Honestly, at 73 and 74 those aren't that difficult.

But why were you running about in the tree when you could have just warped straight out? Not like you needed to find the exit.

This doesn't sound like you just happened to log in when the account was set to BST, you used it as BST, by your own words. Someone else on this thread admitted to raising you every time. Looks like you two had a nice duo going on, if it had worked.

This is rediculaous! Necro and said nameless person have been my friends since I was a lil newb! This isn't fair! You dirt balls always drag every little negative thing about a person into a fight. WTF does botting hafta do with the issue at hand? Absolutly nothing!
I'm taking Necro's side on this, I don't care who dislikes him or what his reputation is. Reputation is a bunch of BS to me anyway. It just seems so stupid and just...not like him to be so pissed over a little bit of EXP. He's a BST, he could get it back on his own time and he doesn't hafta wait for a party. Now, I know it takes BSt a long time to get EXP sometimes, but still! He doesn't have to wait for party invites, or try to find people to party with.

Hello to all. I'm the long-time friend of Necrosis. I've known him from when we first started playing the game and have considered him a close in-game friend. I had complete trust in him and let him borrow gil, Lu Shang's, etc. on many occassions and he never did anything to break that trust. Even though I've heard stories from others that question his character, I stood by him.

Two months ago, I made an agreement with him to level my NIN to 37. I paid him 5 million up front and would pay him the rest after completion. For the first couple of weeks, he hardly leveled the job. Instead, I would find him on my other mules crafting for his own profit. I wouldn't have a problem if he had asked me first, but he didnt and I was surprised that he was using my account for his own agenda. But, I let it go because while he was profiting from my fishing and leather crafts, he was skilling them up as well.

The main problem arose when I noticed my BST had lost some XP. I'm not sure how many times he's gotten my BST killed because I didn't keep track until I started noticing that it was taking long to get to level 74. After the first death, I mentioned it to him and he apologized. Occassionally, I would find him using BST to camp NMs or do other activities without my permission. He then died a second time on my BST and I told him to not play around with the job anymore. About 6 weeks into our NIN-leveling agreement, with NIN still at level 15 or so, he dies a third time. I was furious because I thought I made it clear to him. He then promised to never mess around with my BST again. He also joked that, if it wasn't for him, I would be level 75 by now.

Well, I honestly thought that would be the last time. I log in last week and find my BST down by 4k XP. At this point, I just had enough. His explanation for the death was outrageous. I asked him how in the hell he died when I had logged out in a non-aggro area. He responded by saying that he logged in with the character on autorun. I find it extremely disrespectful that he would test my competence with such a ridiculous explanation. I told him to forget about leveling my NIN, logged out, and changed my PW.

This is not about the amount of XP that I lost. It's that I had trust in Necrosis and he responded by taking advantage of that trust. I repeatedly gave him chances, yet he continued to belittle our friendship by ignoring my requests. And he did this after I confided in him about some trust issues in my RL. I cannot play this game anymore. It disgusts me to XP knowing that a friend can cause as much XP loss as the Elder Gobbue I'm fighting. Thanks kis for looking out as always. I had great times with you all (Ibot Debo Wataza Topler Ryan Bran Highweindht Kye Marx Pofna Rafcalz Tailss Longarm Primadoll Sam ..). keepyoureyeonthejudas. Take care, I'm out.

-Sote
This is probably the most important post of the thread. How many of you actually read it? It looks like the vast majority of you completely ignored it, to pursue your own little thread-derailing side arguments.

Topic = Necrosis screwing over Sote, then actually posting a flame about getting called on it.

Since almost none of you have given any sign of having even seen this post, just please take a half-second to skim over these key points from Sote's side of the story, before you go back on your own little side-adventure:

1) It's my understanding that Necrosis lost far more than 4,000 experience on BST. Rather, he lost that much after already being told to not touch the job two or three times.

2) Necrosis had difficulty finding the time to level the job past 15, per the agreement he made, but found plenty of time to instead use Sote's mules for their crafts, and using Sote's BST to camp NMs for hours on end ... without asking first.

3) Necrosis actually made the ridiculous claim, by way of excuse for dying on BST for the umpteenth time, that he logged in with the character already in autorun mode. That is beside the point, of course, that he had already been told more than once not to log into BST at all.

Even with just Necrosis' own story to go off of, with Sote's side nowhere to be seen, I couldn't imagine how he could come out of this looking like the victimized party. I was beyond surprised to find the first few posts of this thread to be in support of him. It was downright flabbergasting that Necrosis himself was the one to post a flame.

There's no question who was in the wrong, here. Necrosis received a large sum of money, much more than such a task was worth, to take the few days necessary to level a job to 37. Instead, he spent weeks devoting his time to exploiting every other aspect of that account for his own profit. He had already received more than enough payment, and yet instead of doing the work he had been contracted out to do, he only used the account to sweeten his deal. He took this so far, in fact, that he never actually got around to doing what he agreed to, and in fact left this person in a worse position than they were in to begin with. He has no business acting affronted about being chewed out.

The flame should have been reversed. The fact that nothing surfaced from the other side indicates either a disinterest in the drama of QCDN, or perhaps indicates who has more class.

Sote didn't quit over a few thousand lost experience points. He quit out of disgust over how his fellow players can behave.

anyway, i never put any more merit into it, until very recently when my cousin told me that he was going to quit the game, on the basis of necrosis' actions. i didn't really know what their deal was (i thought it was a favor type thing), but instead of leveling his ninja as was asked, he instead used my cousin's crafts to make money, used his gil without permission, borrowed items without permission, and bring his bst to nm camps, without permission. necrosis took over two months to take his ninja from 1 to 22. that was two months spent, benefitting from the account, rather than doing what was agreed to.

Some people think EXP loss is major, some think it's small. Given all the various alternate methods of obtaining experience points solo, I fall into the group that can care less about EXP.

I believe that you are missing the point.
Two people came to an agreement. The conditions of that agreement were clear. One of those people then proceeded to intentionally violate that agreement. I could be wrong, but to me it seems like that is really the main issue. If one doesn't keep his word, then one got nothing at all going for himself.

I was told he was mad over having been killed and lost EXP. Either way, EXP loss or breech of agreement, it still seems just not right to me. Sote change dhis PW, why quit over one person? I mean, look at that list of people he mentioned. Alot besides just Necro, many more people to stay for then to quit over.

from what I can tell the agreement was that Necrosis was to be paid 10million gil for leveling Sote's NIN to 37. There were no other parts to that agreement. No restrictions or anything. Necrosis was given 5 mil in advance to level it and would be given 5 mil more when it was completed. Having it not be completed Necrosis was going to send the 5mil back (so he says). Contract was never broken when Necrosis used the account for other things as there were no stipulations against said action.

A good friend of mine gives me the keys to their car, to take it to get it washed, paying me to do so.

I instead drive it all over the place and get in a traffic accident.

Said friend then tells me "Stop abusing my trust, and only do what I asked."

I ignore this and drive around more, getting the car more banged up through my various actions/sloppy driving.

There's of course no problem with this, because "there were no stipulations against said action"

no.. there really weren't. That's the thing. In an agreement (or contract) you are supposed to cover all of those things. The agreement (or contract) was broken when you didn't get it washed (as the agreement/contract was broken when Necrosis didn't get Sote's NIN to 37). If you wish to start using the words "agreement" and "contract" atleast understand how they work. Granted it might be MORALLY wrong to do said actions, it was not against any agreement (or contract) that was given. There is a difference, learn them.

and your friend could sue you for the cost to repair the damage, but not for breach of contract.
Necro lost the exp, tried to get the exp back but failed, and quit doing that before he lost MORE exp. And besides, quitting because he lost you 4k of exp, that can be made back in less than an hour? Thats just plain Emo. Unless somthing else happened that no one is saying.
