Laptop and Vista. Need help!

Hey guys, I just got a new laptop and installed all the disks and all the expansions. I have Vista (only choice, I couldn't downgrade).

No matter what I do, I can't get the game to start. I even tried to use compatability, but still a no go. Playonline Viewer just refuses to open. Am I missing something in compatability?

Any advice other the downgrade to XP?

Who is your laptop from? HP? Theres lots of tweaks to improve it's performance. Make sure you have at least 2, preferably 3+ RAM. There might even be a free upgrade to windows XP depending on the manufacturer.

I got a Dell XPS. I've already tweaked it pretty good, though I plan on keeping Vista Aero going because whats the point of Vista if you can't enjoy the visuals. I have 3gb of ram btw.

I meant this more ironical.. there were a few threads about vista and ffxi.

Do yourself a favor and pick up a program called Aerofoil. It disables Vista's Glassify Aero function when youre not running on AC power. Gives you about 30min more battery life.
