Laugh With Me

lol @ calling Sony innovative for home and PSN.

Just watched a huge show on MS last night. I think it was on discovery channel... They have plans Ele that Nintendo and Sony look like infants besides them. Some home of the future idea. You should check it out. Its like a home were walls are laced with some screen type of wall paper and every thing is voice controlled... Like the whole house lol. I believe its called MS Home lol... But its no sad vitual world on PSN. They are trying to change peoples every day life. MS is not here to go backwards keeping us in SD, they are not here to make nice Tvs and shitty game consoles. From what i watched on the show i was amazed, maybe try and find it on tv.

While i was typing this i figured i would just find a link for you towards it. http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/press/2006/sep06/09-28NewPrototypesPR.mspx

The article and the one who posted it are both pretty biased.

They don't give enough information in the article to make half the claims they did, especially since i do believe that the latest update to the PSN store made it look an awful lot like a certain other system's market place.

I agree to that too :P

And come on, a lot of what Microsoft "invents" they never invented or even came up with the idea. The home idea you said Osyris is cool but I dunno if I'd really like that myself.. hmm...

Are you serious about the home thing? I think that would be amazing.

I dunno, it'd be cool but I don't wanna pay for it nor do I really think that them having that much around/built into my house being fun.. I don't trust any business that far.

Yeah I don't know about computer walls.....i like beer, and i foresee some problems therein.

As for the PSN store update, it does look a bit like the marketplace on the surface, i actually think it's an improvement on what xbox has done. It's a bit more user friendly imo.

As for Home, i'm kinda anxious for it's release. I think it has the potential to be the next step for the whole "online community"......thingy.

The psn store is now an almost direct copy of the xbox live store. It's an improvement over the steaming pile that the psn store was before, but it's not any better than the xbox store now.

If by "next step" you mean the same step as second life, then yes, it'll be moving forward.

Least we don't require points to buy games...

That's true at least; but by using a points system you don't have to have a credit card to be able to buy stuff from the store.

Xbox still has it so you can buy points too which is rather silly.

I know that, but my point was that by using a points system, you can go to a gamestop and buy a points card; so you're not required to have a credit card to purchase things from the store. The PSN's use of a credit card is a little faster, but the points system lets more people use it, like kids who don't have credit cards.

You make a fine point, sir. I shall shut up now.

There are PSN cards already in Japan, and they're rolling out in the Us now.

And btw, I couldn't give less of a shit about the new PSN update, and at this point couldn't really care less about Home. All that matters is good content to download, which both consoles have.

Also don't really care about points versus money all that much. What I don't like is having to buy blocks instead of being able to buy specific amounts of points. I'd probably have bought more XBL arcade games if I didn't have to buy extra points and assume I'd spend them at some point. I don't like getting sucked into cycles like that, because you get anxious to spend the points so you don't forget about them.

And Osy, plans are plans. Who the hell knows what's practical to be actually be put out in the market? Microsoft likes to spit out lots of ideas that never come to fruition. That's not a bad thing, ideas are great. Just saying they're business people before innovators and they won't do anything they won't make money off of. A lot of things they never intend to release they talk about to scare people away from competition.

Points are shitty. Its just another worthless step i have to take to get something. If anything, both options should be available.

It's not really much of a step if you don't stock up, since when you try to purchase something on the marketplace with not enough points, it basically operates the same as prompting you to choose a credit card to purchase the title you were looking at in the first place.

Except that you have to buy in their specific blocks of points, that is my only problem with it. If I could try to buy a game that costs 400 points and get a prompt, "Want to buy 400 points?" I would have no trouble. What sucks if saying, "well, if I buy this 2000 point block, I could get these 3 games, but I only want this 1 enough to actually pay for it."

Now I assume most people just buy as needed and save the extra til something they want is available, but I don't want to just have Microsoft storing my nonrefundable money. To me I've paid for the 2000 point block for whatever partial item I've gotten.

Baj, i don't deny that Home is a bit of a Second Life rip-off, but at the same time it's going much farther. It's supposedly going to solve the lack of a cross-games friend list, plus ready rooms for games like Warhawk and what not. I see all kinds of potential for it, and that's what i was talking about. But we'll see when it's finally released. Who knows if they'll do it right. I hope so, but my guess is that it'll be a work-in-progress at best. But hell, what isn't.

Points suck, period. No doubt about it. Any other payment system beats it hands down.
