I'm kinda curious..... How many of you out there have spent an obscene amount of time trying to gain a new spell?
I love Blu so far, but on Cocoon I'm 0/22 lol.

Thats 22 Cocoon's used by a Crawler and 22 times I have'nt learned it.

Hey Asia. Everyone is going thru the same dilema.

If you're trying to learn Cocoon that means you are in the 1st batch of spells. But, by lvl 20 it will get easier. ^^

Hiya Neo <3

Thanks Nego ^^ I look forward to 20+.

I just figured there had to be someone out there who had even worse odds than I did lol.
BTW Nego your sig rocks!!

8 hours to learn pollen XD

Ohhh! If you wanted to compare notes i have horror stories for you!

I had absolutely no BLU Magic untill lvl 8 (read: After killing like 50 Bees barehanded to not kill them fast enough so they could do <Pollen>) and the 1st one I learned was <Metallic Body>.

I learned <Bomb Toss> at lvl 16 in valkurn, so that somewhat compensates for all that gimp time.

Metallic Body and Cocoon took forever to learn for me also :nono: but compared to others I've been pretty lucky in learning Blue Magic. I walked into a Valkurm Dunes party yesterday and learned Cursed Sphere

Im in the "Took me 4 Hours to learn Pollen" Club ><

Wow this sounds like fun, I think I am going to buy the expansion pack just to try out the jobs once my new thf is caught up to where the old daroth was... I wish the GM's would give him back but the return to VD campaign wont let me take him back :(

Pollen took me abot an hour and a half. Took about 20 pollens before I got it.

From there I capped my blue magic and have been having great luck

1/1 sprout smack
1/1 helldive
1/2 cocoon
1/4 wild oats(this took long though like 2-3hours because they NEVER used it)
1/2battldance
1/1 featherstorm by accident
1/1 or 1/2 headbutt
1/2 sandspin
1/1 footkick
1/1 sheepsong
1/1 on the shroom move
1/8ish on power attack

For metallic body, I hear it sucks a ton at lower levels, so I'll just grab it xping in the dunes(I'm level 12 now). Seeing as how it won't be useful until many several levels later, I don't feel guilty.

My nice track record here slightly offsets my horrible NM track record.

I've been trying the combinations of wearing things to enhance CHR and INT.
Some people are saying one or the other affects the learning curve.

I can't say for sure though because sometimes BLU skills come quick, while some of the simple ones takes decades to obtain.

Is there anything out there online that can confirm what stats affect the learning curb? Or is it just based on chance? Is chance based on IRL chance ("pure luck"), or luck based -in game- like Treasure Hunter?

It may be too early if there is actual documentation.
I know that the older jobs, do have this kind of info.

So far I'm under the impression that its based on chance.
All in all, its one fun job. :-D

Bah. I think I posted in the wrong thread.
It is related to the same topic though. lol

Taking me a long time to learn pollen... Learned foot kick already. I just started lvlling BLU today and at lvl 5 BLU for now. I think I might skill up my BLU magic maybe.. That might better my chances.

I'm looking forward to Blu when I eventually unlock it and it dies down a little (read not 1/4th of the server playing it) but I am curious as to -when- you learn it.

Do you learn it WHEN it uses the move, or after it dies?

You learn the ability (with luck) after the mob dies.

I wanna learn bomb toss T.T

Well if the more times they use it the better... for early ones level up high enough to have them be the 20exp mobs, hit them and turn around and let them go at it.

<<lvl 8 blu with all my spells including most of my level 12 spells and I found it fairly easy (though someone boring) by subbing whm and taking stacks of selbina milk (cheaply bought from Zulkheim vendor).

Don't forget to take some antidotes with you for when you're going after funguars, crawlers and dogs...lol.

It took me quite a while to learn Wild Oats as well. Haven't done too bad on the rest, got some within the first few tries, others maybe 8-9 tries. I'm lvl 15 and have everything from 1-12, and the lvl 16 ability Sheep Song. Asia, you might try subbing BST when you go out spell hunting, it seems to help you learn better. Whether that's from the added CHR or your pet giving the prey TP that much faster, can't say for sure.
