Everyone who's played this game for some time has had this happen: Someone, usually a low level with no subjob, will come up out of the blue and say "Please, can I have 1000 gil so I can buy new armor." My normal answer to such cheek is to "go farm like everyone else."

But then it started happened with people on my friends list and LS memebers. I really hate to turn people down or dissapoint people, but honestly, as everyone knows, we ALL have expenses to cover. I'm trying to afford a nobel's cloak, the owner of my Dynamis LS is trying to pay for the next hourglass...its never easy. But I came up with an idea.

"Got any beehive chips?"
"Sure...3 stacks"
"I'll buy them off you; AH prices"
"They're going for 10k /stack now"
"Perfect"

And I bought them...turned them into wax...then silent oil and living keys. I ended up making a big profit, and cleared out a bunch of materials I was sitting on.

The idea I wanted to throw out for discussion is: We all buy stuff from the AH from time to time. Why not give a few low levels a leg up by bying it directly from them; they get the gil they need (I think I've given my friend almost 200k so far and paid for new level equipment) and save on AH fees, you don't feel like being a scrooge, and everyone makes out fairly well.

Since I started this, I've been delused from time to time with beehive chips, but I have yet to loose any gil over it. Silent oil never goes outta style. And as I'm about to make lv100 alchemy, I can use all the materials I can get.

What do you think?
 
That is.... are really good idea, what made you think about this? or ask him that question
 
"Leg-up" makes me think of when I take my dog outside to do his business.

Anyway it's a nice idea but not everyone has the synthing skill required to do something like that. I know I don't =/

Welll... "Leg-up" is an idiomatic saying refering to assisting a person to climb over a hurdle of some sort. Just picture someone holding their hands out for someone to step on in order to jump a fence.

LOL...I always forget english isn't the first language of everyone here. Sorry about that.

English is my first language and I thought the same thing as Zuri. Maybe I just watched too much Monty Python as a kid.

I guess thats what we all do when we buy stuff in the AH. We're paying people to farm for us. Farming for me now is synthing items to sell instead of killing mobs for items to sell. But what normally happens to those important ingredients that I can craft with that are dropped by mobs is that are sold to NPCs or just dropped (I try to make Prism Powder outta flint stones just because its so exciting to make something actually useful out of them).

I guess the main thought was, I wanted to help out people that I know without being condecending or being cheated. Since I'm paying AH prices anyways, it doesn't matter, and I can usually get a good quantity I need at once. Anyone who's made hi-ethers knows the pains of getting mass quantities of bat wings.

Guess I'm a "Help Those Who Help Themselves" kinda person. And I'm hoping more people try it out.

Are you sure you play on Quetzalcoatl? I can get 5-6 stacks of bat wings an hour and that's not even triing to get them. Most of the time I just turn them in for Sandy fame, but that quote cracks me up.

I don't know about anyone else, but I killed dozens of bats in kor. tunnel & Ordello caves and didn't even break a stack of bat wings...and it takes 4 bat wings to make one hi-ether.
 
Go to places like King ranperre's tomb where the place is full of bats, and I'm pretty sure there you can get tons of bat wings you need, and fangs too. I don't really know if the other two places really have bat wing drops, sometimes it depends I guess.
 
I think this is a great idea. When I first started my good rl friend Xephon bought beehive chips and all sorts off me for AH prices. It helped me make some money and also helped him get items. I'm currently levelling clothcraft and recently hired a lvl8 whm friend to go and harvest moko grass for me.
 
if it was really that easy why is beehive chip going to towards 10k and beewaxs is near 24k now :x make jack o lantern almost not worth making anymore :cry:
 
Phew I nearly sent Badger my stacks of Beehive Chips. That money will buy me some Saruta Cotton.
