Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks (NOT 56k FRIENDLY)

It's set 100 years after the Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass timeframe, but I don't think there's any reason to play Phantom Hourglass first in terms of following this game.

I still won't be picking this one up.

Good for you and thanks for reiterating that.
I'd suggest getting it, it's PH+1000, but hey, if not that's fine.

This game is fantastic. It's really good so far, and I dig the new return-to-dungeon a lot, much more enjoyable than PH's Ocean King Temple (Which wasn't as bad as everyone made it to be anyways). If everyone is still afraid of a train, I don't know what to tell you. They're great modes of transportation.

Fucking addicting.
I really haven't done much yet, just beat the Snow Temple and have to go back to the Spirit Tower to get the railmap for the next area, but it is definitely a major improvement over PH.
I do like the traveling by trains, though the goddamn fucking demonic bomb trains that if they hit you it's game over and you can't kill them only slow them down piss me off.. and having to readjust your route so you don't get hit by them.
Though the fucking one that's on crack and turns around on the tracks and is like a heat sinking train of death that follows you and then boom is really cheap.

I love how the Spirit Tower is not repetitive at all like Temple of the Ocean King.
Sure you have to go back after each dungeon to get a new map, but you can skip previous floors, and no time limit, and having Zelda in there with you is a big help.
And it's actually fun figuring out all the puzzles.

A lot of sidequests too which is great, dropping off passengers, delivering freight, rabbitland rescue, monster kill-em-all. I particularly love the stamp book, wish there were more stamps to get though.
I also like playing the songs via the spirit flute, though it can take me a few times doing the duet with the Lokomo's to get to each temple.
Also rolling by double tapping the screen, although I had no problems by circling on the edge of the screen in PH, apparently some people did.

Overall, one of the better hand-held Zelda's imo, and a vast improvement over PH.

Where am I suppose to get the cold stuff for the Goron Village. I assume that I need something from the Snow region, but I've no idea exactly where.

Mega Ice, take an Anouki from Anouki Village (one outside near the pond in the NW?) to Wellspring Station and he'll start up a mega ice shop.
Then buy the ice from him and deliver it to Goron Village, it'll melt outside of the snow realm so be quick and careful.

Oh, cool.
Fucking Zelda; "we know where to find that!", no I don't you lying bitch.

Just got my hands on Spirit Tracks, I'm laughing my ass off at how Zelda reacted when Anjean told her about her predicament, especially when she became sort of a self parody of her ancestors. XD

Anyways, just about an hour, maybe hour and a half in, I'm loving this game. I'm also pleased that the Trains fit well into the game. I'll admit I wasn't too sure about the whole train motif at first, but then again, I'm sure many people weren't sure about the chibi look for Link back when Wind Waker first was announced (I personally loved it). In any case, I'm liking the fact that the dev team for Zelda proved me wrong, and I'm wondering what they'll do next for the next handheld Zelda entry.

How does the train fit well into the game? It slows down the game greatly and offers no freedom of movement.

But you're saying they fit in well when it's clear they don't. They are a lot slower then the boat and have no little treasure hunt game that the boat had(One of the only things I even liked about that fucking boat.)
I'm thinking that you'll love anything so long as it's released from Japan.

I bought Spirit Tracks cause I love the Zelda games but this shit is just terrible. Travel time on the train, climbing an annoying ass tower with zelda constantly getting in your way, and the stupid use of the Mic for the Wind weapon/flute dealy is bothersome. Like shit, it's a 30 min game if you take out train travel.

I like a lot of gameplay mechanics in this game and if they'd stop adding the crap they could make something pretty decent here.

Maybe it's just me, but I can forgive any slow train driving for the whistle.
Plus the little carting around passengers and items things are amusing to me.

The tower is way more streamlined than the Temple of Time or whatever it was called in Phantom Hourglass. You no longer have to go through every single floor to get to the next section, as the stairs open right up to the next path.

And honestly I adore the sections with Zelda in the big clunky armor. You can control her real easily, and using her during boss fights is a lot of fun.

Oh, and Linebeck. Yes.
