Soo... First reaction was, I could merit a 75 job in the Valkurm Dunes with a party of noobs. Well, Reality is a bit different. We were 5 very experienced players and 1 brand new level 21 warrior. He had a cute little voke macro that told us when he voked and that he had 30 seconds until next.

I thought this was cool. I fired up one of my last 3 hits of my Anniversary ring and was having fun as a Galka BLM. I quickly learned that I need to shift between 3 tables to pt effectively. I have my basic nukes on the ALT portion of table 6, and my nuke-gas on the CNTRL portion of table 6. The corresponding elemental debuffs and on 7, the WHM cures self/party and tractor / warp etc on table 5. On ALT-0 (5), I have Poison. On CNTRL-0 (5), I have Poisonga. On CNTRL-0 (6) I have BioII (scaled down to just BIO for the sync party).

I thought I was tagging BIO on the Mandragora and popped a Poisonga. Two White Lizards pounced on me. I cursed and hoped they would take me down and leave the party alone. They killed 3 more before their rampage was done. I told the Warrior “So... your new huh? Well don’t worry about mistakes because us grissled veterens do this too.” I shouldn’t have said anything. That was some form of party jinx, karma, or something similar.

During our downtime, a solo player comes by killing lizards then leaves. We laugh again.

20-30 minutes later we are all raised and everyone had a good chuckle over my mistake. The very first fight, the two lizards moved in on me then stopped. They were just moving around but it scared the hell out of me; rest of the party too for that matter. We laughed. Then another member did something, dunno what but aggro’d the two lizards. Panic ensues and I think we un-synced at some point for safety because it wasn’t disastrous but I... UGH I aggro’d the Goblin and his bee. Then someone runs around with Mandragora hate and links the other two mandies. That’s about 7 mobs on us all with the ability to waste us. We lived due to un-syncing but we were laughing so hard we thought it was the most entertaining party in a long while.

Most of us had to leave for bed (work in morning) anyway. I asked that we “Never speak of this again.” to which they all aggreed. Sorry guys, I know I said “Never speak of this party again” but I couldn’t resist. At least there are no names involved!!

I'm at work and hadn't finished my first cup of coffee.

We were sync'd to 29 in the 2nd jungle. The reference to the dunes was regarding what my first impression of level-sync was going to be like. We were in the little elbow shapped tunnel a bit into the 2nd jungle. The one with 2 lizards, end capped by goblins and mandies.

sorry for the confusion.

Well the last time it happened was when I was killing the mandragora with level sync off and I cycloned and got the two lizards as well. Totally not one of our best moments. :P

they didn't, my pre-coffee mistake. they were AOE'd or something but they did give us chase.

...and was funny as hell

I thought Mandies didnt link

Yeah they didn't link. Someone did an AoE ws on accident. It was like that scene in Airplane where everyone's running all over hell in a panic. It was pretty amusing.

It was the most fun I've had in a party in a long, long time. Quite the experience for a first time at level sync for me. Made me nostalgic for newbie days. lol

Dude, Duff, I love ya man, but unless you're pulling mobs INTO a secluded space, you don't need GA spells to get your job done as a blm... Especially poisonga... I may have been gone from ffxi for a while, but it sounds like there was more than just one valkurn noob in the party. :p

Also, blm isn't a job you just walk into from a melle job and expect to be the most experienced blm in the world. As far as blm is concerned, when going from melle to blm, that cockiness should be left at the door. :p It's a whole different playing ground. I still get my ass eaten in Limbus when I have to switch between blu (which isn't entirely melle) and blm...

I agree with ^ though. That did sound like fun lmao.

Yeah I loaded x3 tables with ALL my spells macro'd. That was not good. Unless I'm ga farming, I think I'll comment out those macros with an extra "/". //ma don'tcastthis-ga. Oh and we made that noob 29 War look good. He's one of the few who didn't mess up. We had to goad him into a provoke pattern but that was it. He learned quick, while I got all geriatric and forgot stuff.

That's the thing. With blm, if you overcomplicate stuff, even in solo play, you're dead. I've primarily stuck to one macro set. Period. I adjust it towards whatever I'm doing, but I don't really get away from having just one macro set. Warp? I'll just tag it from the menu. Poison? Ditto. Just macro your primary nukes, a few cures, a few enfeebles, sleeps, and you're golden. You can easily make it work with 20 default macros.

And also, dude, you're 75 bst. You don't need to be ga farming with a low level blm lmao. Dude, that's what I did back in 2004 or 5 before I knew about bst. :p Come on!

Don't let blm confuse you. You've overload yourself if you try to have macros for everything.

I've opened a new consolidated, one-screen table. Some whm stuff and some blm stuff. Simplifying as Paky suggests. Thanks.

I lost all my macros when I quit, so I had to reset my blm macros, and I'm honestly not as satisfied with my current set as I was with the old one, but I've done it this way due to trying to keep up with a good sorc.ring and refresh setup. Anyway, maybe this will help.

CTRL
1 - Always a cure macro
2 - Bind (Will save your life, soloing, if sleep doesn't do the trick or you just need one more enfeeb)
3 - Drain / Aspir
4 - Refresh set
5 - Sorc.convert set
6 - HmP set 1
7 - HmP set 2
8 - Get up from healing set (replaces few remaining pieces)
9 - Don't think I'm using this one yet
10 - Manafont

Alt
1 - Gravity
2 - Magic Attack Set
3 - Stun
4 - Thunder 4 (or main damage spell)
5 - Blizzard 4 (or secondary damage spell)
6 - Thunder 3 (or third damage spell)
7 - Blizzard 3 (or fourth damage spell)
8 - Freeze II (big damage spell) - sometimes I replace this with a ga spell
9 - Sleep1
10 - Sleep2

It's not the perfect macro set, and it'd be a whole lot easier if I used windower, but I don't...

On blm I only have two ga's macrod, and those are solely for dynamis for skillchain puposes. Anything else macrod is just asking for problems.

This was hilarious. Especially more so because you were molesting the very same lizards while we were waiting for someone XD

That was probably one of the most fun I had in a lowbie xp party in a long time. Even more odd though, I couldn't OP warp to the jungle as a 31 sam. God forbid you can OP to a place appropriate for your xp level. >.>

yeah it was the best time ever. I really enjoyed it even though I was tired. Yeah Pak. I will try something similar although I use different locations for things. My CNTRL-1 and 2 are usually equipment swaps no matter what job I'm on. It keeps me from getting confused. Just like my CNTRL 9, 0 are sneak/monomi invis/tonko respectively.

I've taken your idea of a consolidated and tried it. I like the simplicity but started running out of room for things. I am looking at HMP gear and there's not terribly too much of that stuff at lvl38 but endgame I can see where you need a full two spots x12 pieces to change into. Then a third/fourth to get dressed with normal fight gear.

I'll iron it out as I go along. BLU was a bitch that way and I found a nice rythm on that. I will on BLM too.

I'm sure you'll do fine, duff. And hmp gear really does start to add up. I mean, full yigit is already 5 pieces right there...

I do thinks a lot like you. On blm, my alt3 is stun, and on blu, my alt3 is head butt, so same thing. My ctrl10 is usually my 2 hour, and my ctrl5 is almost always a ws. We all have our ways. :)

Just out of curiosity, do you happen to remember what the name of the WAR was?

Holy shit man we must be the same person living in two places at once. We nearly play the same jobs, my Headbutt is ALWAYS on alt+3 no matter what BLU build table I'm using. My WS's are always Alt+5 unless I'm on sam and it's ALT 5 6 7. That's funny we have the same location for headbutt.

I see a mob about to do something nasty and BAM alt+3 then I hope it goes off in time and lands too.

Lol, I had a feeling as soon as I read "Cute little provoke macro..."
