Linkshell Community beta version is online !

very dumb question, but i'm at work.

What is your POL ID? I'm thinking since I can't log in, that it's one of those long codes on the back of my booklet?

damnit...

Its the same username you use when you have to log in to confirm your bill every month.

its the 8 characters long, the first 4 are letters, last 4 are numbers

Its the ID you use to log onto POL

Apparently i have mine setup to auto-login. And I've never confirmed a payment before...

I can probably figure this out.. might have to wait till I get home though.

edit: Only thing I ever type is two passwords when I startup POL.

edit#2: Apparently my work saw this, and it's already been firewalled in the last 15mins. Oh well for having something to do while bored at work.

Uh, Neophytal....that WOULD BE the message-sending system (which is nothing more than e-mail) I referred to. Do you see where you quoted me saying it?

We're talking about TELLS, here. Not the things that make a little *ding* noise when you're logged in ... those work based off your POL handle, and are not the same thing. Those are a second form of e-mail, separate from your POL e-mail address ... even if Playonline doesn't call them that.

No, we're talking purple text, the instant-messanging system within the game. Look at the conversation again, for clarification:

You would need that for even doing something as simple as sending a tell to someone.

u can all rdy send tells from a web brow to game lol

Could you show me where? All I know of is the message-sending system, which is basically e-mail.

Yeah, I find it pretty neat. I put a little comment and editted up my profile a bit, and registered one of my LSs that I'm in since everyone in the LS is a pearl sack holder.

I'm on Dreamweavers too Chrono :o

There's one thing that's killing me. Can I sign up for more than one ls? I signed up for one of mine(Teamzero) and now I can't seem to sign up for any of my others.

well you obviously know that you cant send/receive tells from outside the game, so get over it. thats the closest thing there is, and thats what he was referring to.

Link does not work on firefox but on normal IE it does

it did yesterday, dont know what happened. :( its a lame site anyways.
yeah and on IE round jp peek it had closed down as go to busy :D

word of caution:

I am a sackholder on my Arcane Garden social/event LS. It's owned by Audino.

I registered on the linkshell community with our LS, and it made me the "manager"...
It gave me complete control of the POL site version of Audino's LS. I can add/remove members, moderate, and designate managers w/o the Linkshell owners approval or say-so.

It only gives allowance for 3 managers. As it stands now, our LS owner hasn't logged in, so I don't know if when he does it will allow him to take "ownership" of the site.

I only bring this up because a situation like this could be detrimental to an end-game LS in the event that a sackholder becomes disgruntled, or what have you. I'll let you all imagine the possibilities, but this is probably something that should be resolved by SE.

so anyone that owns a end-game LS.. even if you don't intend on using this service, I'd suggest you create your shell in the system before someone else does, to prevent any problems.

Neo, I get the feeling that you still have barely scanned the discussion.

You're wrong about what Blazn "thought" we were talking about, if for no other reason than the fact that I have multiple private messages from him talking about it. Still, it should have been clear just from our public posts what was going on. Look at what was said again, please.

He was responding to something I SAID, not the other way around. I was the one "referring to" something. I set the path of the conversation, and I set the topic. We are talking about TELLS, here. The first mention of it came from me.

He, in fact, linked to a completely unrelated website for an IM-protocol-joiner (perhaps as an attempt at misdirection, or perhaps out of simply being mistaken) and claimed that one would be able to send tells to FFXI from it.

Kire said:
www33.meebo.com or its the other site i use to beat the firewallls at college one is msn etc one is ffxi and wow etc but idk i need sleep

He was either very confused, or was plucking smoke from thin air. Both are equally possible, but he did understand we were talking about tells.

I said that for immediate, direct interaction with the game, an outside piece of software would be necessary ... even for something as simple as sending a tell.

He responded with:
Kire said:

It's possible, at that point, he was just confused about the Playonline Plus system, but once he responded to what I said here:

Winklewil said:

With that bogus Meebo site, it was clear that he had something very different in mind. I mentioned and made an allowance for Playonline Plus there. This is the part you didn't read, or at least one of them.

Blazn did, and he made it clear that he quite understood that we were discussing something else.

Yeah stuff by SE or really any thing that is hot and new, it would would be best and let others try it rather than risk your neck and get it caught on a SE bug or loophole in the system.

Like letting someone going through all of the work of finding how cor, pup, blu works and what makes their best traits stronger.

Has anyone discovered how to join multiple linkshell communities?

and also, I hope SE incorporates the Friends list plus into this, to enable messaging to your friends list and LS-mates while "offline"... .to be able to participate in /tells would probably be asking too much... but would be awesome.

Okay, I got home and checked it out. I always thought that number was called my "content ID"... but yeah, I have that memorized and could have logged in with it if my work hadn't so quickly foiled my attempts.

It is pretty cool though. I've got Fury setup on there. Although, I'm not sure if there's any benefit at all to having this when I've got my own website already. It's still cool that it recognizes my character, but I was hoping it would be able to tell me who is logged into my linkshell while I'm not in game, and give me a bit more options then just a message board.

Overall, it's still nice for SE to throw us a bone, and it's possible they plan to expand the capabilities of this with further in-game adjustments to the Linkshell system. We can only hope.

It would be interesting for them to come up with a system that could use the titles we earned and how many times we have earned the title to come up with a score of how good a ls is. A ranking system? yes please.

ie Vtra vanquisher x 3= 60 points

they would have a scale for the easiest hnm to the hardest and the score, base it one each player and add them up for a ls and you have the ls "firepower"
