List of people who fake DC

I'm a medium well kind of person as well. I can't stomach looking at rare meat and think of eating it. I don't know what it is, but it makes me want to gag. Might be the texture, I don't know. Maybe I've never had one cooked correctly that wasn't well/medium-well. /shrug

Rare is a bit much for me. I like my steak nice and hot. You just lose so much of the natural flavor the more you cook it. I totally don't get people who order a well done steak and the smother it with steak sauce or, worse, ketchup. Meat flavored meat is where its at.

I have conditioned myself to eat medium well ground beef because of the health risks. Besides, ketchup is supposed to go on a burger, right?

Apparently when I was 5 or 6 I used to eat chips with ketchup on them, so my inner child may disagree with you. (Fuck no I dont do that now)

I don't get what it is, I'll get a nice steak (and I agree, as little condiments as possible and let me taste the flavor of a marinade and the natrual flavors) and bite into it to see pink and that... light coppery taste coupled with the squishiness of the texture of the muscle... both sends shivers down my spine and into my stomach but really aggrivates me that the fucking waitress didn't listen >_>

Dude, I used to eat butter right out of the little disposable tubs. >_> Kids are weird.

If there is pink, there shouldn't be a coppery taste. I assume the coppery taste is blood. There shouldn't be blood in your steak unless its got a red center.

When you go out for stead, do you just order medium well, or do you say "I want the middle to have VERY LITTLE pink"? Since many places have differing definitions of what medium rare and meduim well, etc. are, describing what you want in the middle (that isn't supposed to sound dirty, I swear) is a good strategy for making sure the server doesn't fuck your shit up. Also, having worked in the food service industry, it is more likely that the cook didn't listen or did listen and just is incompetent.

Also, have anyone ever known a person who likes their steak cooked differently? I not talking about someone who has a sirloin one way and a T-Bone another; I'm talking about someone who will order a sirloin medium rare one day and medium well the next at the same restaurant. o_O

My husband is like this; fucking weirdo. I've told him its weird because I have never come across anyone else who does this. Have any of you?

Maybe he likes to sample things, just thank god hes not like this one guy who comes into my work every Wednesday. He comes in and orders a back of ribs, burnt. Not like a little blackened he likes them burnt to shit. And considering it's a Wednesday and that means bottomless ribs day, he usually gets 2-3 refills. I don't know how he can stomach that shit it's so gross just the smell of it.

Sampling is one thing. The man will be 29 next month. He knows what each one tastes like. Its not trying something new. Its just being weird.

And fuck burnt ribs.

I tried my first medium rare burger not too long ago. It's a pain in the ass to eat because it slips around because of the grease and juice. It was good though, but I'll keep with medium for burgers then burned for my hot dogs.

Lol that is pretty weird, and yea fuckin burnt ribs =\

I was "well done" for a long time. A few years ago, I tried med-rare, and I don't think I'll ever eat a well done steak again.

medium to med/rare = delicious. Its how the cows would want to be eaten.
Well done for me, I find cooks in restraunts tend to under-cook steaks anyway so if I tell them well done it'll prob show up med-well. I should just say 'burnt to a crisp' lol

No, because at that point they'll get the directions correctly and burn ths crap out of it and you'll have creamated remains on your plate :P

Last night Chii was the first person (other than myself) to cook me a steak just how I like it. It was nice and rare, still squidgy and not hard. She made it with a beautiful onion gravy and mashed potatoes.

I WAS IN HEAVEN!

Canadian bacon is just back bacon and peameal bacon. However, I read that some U.S. products sold as "Canadian bacon" is just ham cut into circles...lol, which isn't -real- Canadian bacon.

It's also a film by Michael Moore. Yay John Candy!

Canadian bacon isn't to great, I prefer real bacon on a baconator.

Whoa, I should've glanced back at this topic sooner.

To clarify my Texas Roadhouse position, I usually order filet since I'm willing to give up size for the better cut of meat. I don't like dealing with gristle or bone, and usually there's very little to cut off of a filet. I do order my steaks medium rare, however. My parents always ordered medium rare, though weirdly now my mom has graduated to medium and nags at me for ordering medium rare.

And yes, Lec, I like my meat red, thick, and juicy.

Sirloin has very little fat on them. At least the Sirloins I have had didn't have much fat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sirloin_steak The Sirloin is cut from the same general area of Tenderloin which is used for Fillets.

I ate a baconator the other day and must say...

Holy shit, it sucks.
