It's getting old. Obviously there is much more discussion banking off of a topic, or the discussion wouldn't be happening. Me being quiet too long as a good will gesture to moderation has obviously been a problem, retards are now spouting off freely.

That being said, in response to Diabllos

Organizational Structure:

Admins

Having the most power and most responsibility, should only be brought in for bigger discussion. Number one priority would be securing the right people to do the mundane tasks and appropriate the workload of the site

Global Moderators
Not as much power as an admin, but still well too busy to deal with petty shit.

Forum Specific Moderators
Localized power in specialized areas. Should stick to their respective areas, and be knowledgable both of the topics in their respective forums as well as the wants / needs of the members in the areas. Think of it like Congressmen. They are the voice of the people that want changes made to their respective places.

Users
No administrative power, first to notice any problems. MANY problems can be fixed on their own. Users can customize things as much as they want, and utilize this forum when things can't be done on the individual basis. Admins / Global Mods / Forum Specific mods shouldn't be wasting their time on mundane tasks that can be taken care of with a 30-second fix on your own, rather bettering the site by listening to the proper channels.

Treat it like a business. If there's a free tool you can use to better your workspace, you'd do it. Popping bullshit things into a suggestion box that ultimately the president of the company reads and has to make responses to is not time nor cost-effective. It isn't here either.

They sorted it out and nobody was upset or bothered, except you. Whether or not you consider it a valuable use of administrative time is irrelevant. It was also locked because nobody cared, except you.

As for Trist's problem, the method to fix it required the recurring blocking of images. It's an inconvenience, and must be re-made every time a new image is updated. In the best interests of the users of the site, the mods respond to feedback and oblige our (sometimes minor) wants and needs to make it a nicer place for everyone here.

Miros responded quickly, sorted it out without any hassle, and both parties were satisfied with the result. Why must you try to start something, out of nothing?

Because my requests, which were harassed by the same person, were ignored. A larger request, that would require time and consideration, was ignored, while a retarded request that could easily be handled on the user end, was granted.

Must have missed this. Link me?

Sorry but to be honest its not really that hard, or that much of an inconvenience. Theres 2 banners per theme right now, and its not like they add them daily. Easily adblockable, end of story.

Miros making the worksafe theme doesn't bother me. But trying to say its too hard for the user to fix does.

Discussion on newly appointed moderation staff. I was told via Rate-ups that Miros had no point in the discussion, it was all done by Arc. I said it should have been discussed, I was told it wasn't something that wouldn't be discussed, and that it was only an announcement.

If it's in the support and feedback forum, I hardly see it as a place to 'announce' something. If it's here, I'm going to give feedback.

Get over yourself. Your "request" was for an explanation as to why you weren't selected for moderator-ship. That request was also handled fully by Administrators who simply said "we don't have to consult you or anyone, this is not up for discussion."

Clearly you still think it is, when it's not.

As for my request, Dia is completely right. Sure, I could Adblock images on a case-by-case basis with no problem. I wouldn't mind doing it either, if there weren't 3 new banners being added almost weekly.

Not that it's any of your fucking business, but I like to keep my Adblock lists manageable, kinda like a Group Policy. I don't like to block single images wherever possible.

Administrative solution took care of a problem I addressed, and one that I'm certain other people wouldn't necessarily mind having available.

Stop your whining, damn.

The point was the people appointed weren't the right people for the discussion.

Get over myself? Keep my Ad-block easily manageable by removing your rl avatar then. It's not exactly worksafe to have images of men floating on the sides of topics.

trying to say its too hard for the user
Wasn't meaning to make it sound like that. Although Trist brought it up, others may have a similar disliking, and may or may not use Firefox (and thus have such an easy method of disregarding it).

Not to mention any potential IE, or Safari users we may or may not have.

I'm lucky I get to use Firefox (on my laptop) at work. Some companies with Microsoft Enterprise Agreements for Licensing only allow IE at their places of business, and as such, effectively block the use of Firefox, Safari, Opera, or any other browsers.

If you're company is using some type of MEA agreement, chances are you have log-tracking as well, in which case:

I'm in the same boat and you can prevent yourself from getting burned. Turn off images while you browse at work; you miss out on some good funnies but it's a good idea in general:

Websense tracks more than just the domain you visit. They track bandwidth usage, image/text ratio, clicks per day, all sorts of shit. This is just what I know of. I've seen reports from others in my IT group that detail this much about our browsing patterns - who knows what else may be monitored by the Websense proxy.

The big one, for us at least, is bandwidth usage. I turned images off so my time on QCDN is tracked as ~90% text, 10% images. This low bandwidth usage means QCDN won't be flagged as "high bandwidth" to the proxy admins here. If it's a high-bandwidth site and they find they're spending too much on bandwidth each month, they may block the site just based on costs to the company.

Turn off images at work and you'll float safely by for ages, in theory. It disables sig images as well. I leave avatars on since they're generally tiny.

In response to this via rating function:

"I agree you should know endgame in order to be mod; but a discussion needed?hmm I would never ask my members who to announce as new officer for my LS, got my point?"

I have my Linkshell members give me input on who becomes a leader in LS. We were going to go so far as to have a vote for our third member. So yes, I would invite discussion. To keep the majority happy, you need to listen to the masses. Appointing people that are only friends of yours and not opening up for discussion segregates members further, much like this site has done.

But it doesn't follow that everything has to be open to discussion, nor that the discussion has to be open to everyone in turn.

Also, the locked/unlocked status of that thread has nothing to do with Hellstorm's ability to send you parse results.

We all know the parse would never happen, Jamal. There was no reason to keep the thread open for flamebait material.

Boom, first post and already a fuckup.

Don't lock that fucking thread, I'm waiting for my parse.

Hey guess what? I'm not here to cater to only you. No one is. I think thats something that you need to wrap your head around, Jam. I'm not allowing a thread, that isn't the Flameboard, where you continually call someone a fucking moron (among other things) to stay open just because you're stomping your feet and are demanding that they take time out of what they want to do just because you want an answer.

You are my friend, I will and have defended you. I do not think this reaction is necessary or deserved. Please, please, stop.

It's not a fuckup. You're bringing back up a thread that died the end of May to pester for a parse that if you haven't gotten by now you likely won't get at all. You've got it splashed in your sig about Hellstorm's refusal to back up his claims which appears once on every page you post. There's no need for more of a "reminder" than that.

If Hellstorm gets around to giving you what you want, I'm sure he can PM it to you or create a new thread. I wouldn't hold your breath for it, because your pushing him on it hasn't been fruitful up 'til now... I don't see that changing.

None of the people responding have taken a serious interest in that forum.

Yes, it is a fuckup. I'm asking for a parse. I'm proving a point.

Morwen, this isn't personal. I like you as a person, I just can't give the benefit of the doubt to my favorite part of the forum

Here is the simple truth: It's not going to happen. A thread where there is obvious abuse to a fellow member is not going to be left open. Just because you're the only person clammoring for a response that, in all likelihood, isn't going to come; doesn't warrant me keeping that thread open. I dont care if I have to reread every thread (operative term: reread) in that forum. I will lock all open threads with such behavior and if I feel the need (after discussion with my fellow moderator) report the poster for infraction status.

What point are you trying to prove? That Hellstorm will not listen to you? That you cannot harass and intimidate people into giving you what you want, when you want it? What is it?

I know this isn't personal Jamal and I want you to know that I'm not angry at you or anything of that nature. I'm just exhausted at trying to understand why instead of attempting to work with moderation you work so hard against it? I've been involved with EndGame for a very long time. I used to run a shell for Sky and I've done Sea/Limbus/HNM/Dyanmis, name it. The only thing I haven't done is ZNM. I do not see why, that because I am far less vocal, am I less qualified to try to get people to adhere to rules.

My level of endgame interest has nothing to do with the points I made.

To state it again, there is nothing stopping Hellstorm from sending you parse results. The open/closed status of the thread has nothing to do with it.
