What is it with newbs these days? They would rather sit around for hours waiting for a PL than get honest xp. I had a fairly balanced party put together the other day and I convinced them that it was possible to xp without a PL, and they fell flat on their faces. And they all fucking know it all already. The tank that doesn't voke so the puller dies, gets offended when you suggest there might be a better way. The whm who uses all his mp in three cure IIs and then everyone dies because he as no mp. I could go on and on forever, and it feels like I'm gonna be stuck here forever, and I have sand in my panties!
 
Solo only. Bring cheap attack food, whichever drinks benefit your job more (hp drinks for melee, mp for mages), and slaughter EP-EMs without ever stopping to rest. You can take any job from 10-20 so fast now, especially if you burn an xp band charge too.
 
Pfft. Who parties in the dunes? Ha!
 
I like to solo some while seeking. not to the extent where in later teen levels I'll level quickly, but just enough so that I'll be making xp instead of sitting around waiting for an invite.
I agree though, dunes are always hardest on those who've been through once before. Just today I got a pt on my 18 NIN with no main healer(wtf) and a blm confident in his ability to keep up with Cure I. Only after we got a pl did anything turn out good, although I have to wonder if it'd be just as good if we had an actual whm instead of a hodgepodge of jobs strung together at the last moment.
Thank god I got all my mage jobs (sans SMN) past dunes though. I can solo my melee jobs on my free time :P.

That's exactly what I used to do back in the day, before I quit last August. There's no need to party from level 1 to 20, 99 times out of 100 a party will just slow you down. Most of the time I solo'd to 25 or 30 as well, because for one, I enjoy soloing and two it helps you to learn your job.

Hey, I solo'ed 3 levels out there. Suck it up and get solo'ing or cry more.

LOL I bet two thirds of the people bragging about soloing to 20's and beyond spent most of that time with a PLs, like Alyada. Yeah yeah I know everyone except YOU had PLs, that is. I call bullshit before you even open your mouths lol.

That aside, O Sages of Soloing, where would a taru mnk go to solo at level 15? Right now EM's eat me.

EP-DC's ftw! Although i've forgotten where you'd find them at 15. I officially love Xephon, I logged off my 48 SAM last night with 5-1 flagged, I log back on 30mins ago to see that not only did he do 5-1 but he also went and killed Shadow Lord for me. I'd be pissed but i'm sick of doing SL.

Hey, I have access to a PL, and I offered to PL Aly while I was PL'ing myself, but I have solo'ed a monk out in the dunes to 20. Taru wouldn't make much diff.
 
Kink, just run through EPs in the starting zones, or worms in knoschat. You CAN pull in some good XP off of EP because like you said EMs eat you up.
