If EM's as a lvl 15 mnk(regardless of race) kill you I can only offer you one piece of advice: get better at FFXI

Use your common sense Kink, I know you have some. I know you've been playing this game for awhile now because I remember I used to see your name(not hard to forget) alot doin my runnin around. With as long as you've been playing I woulda thought you'd know this shit by now. Learn your low lvl zones, know what to kill and where to kill it at each lvl.

I would kill in W.Ron till about 9-12 depending on the job and then I would move in to La Thiene and kill rabbits/sapplings and maybe one more mob in that area. At 13-15 I move up to the birds, a few orcs, make my way down to the pond and fight everything in my way, do a few rounds of crabs then head past that onto this narrow strip of land that's packed full of worms sheep and gobs, and repeat. At about 18 you can move in to the Dunes and fight rabbits/bats/gobs in that little square not 20 feet past the zone.
There's more spots and methods than the ones I mentioned, you just gotta learn what's out there. Also learn what foods/drinks/items are best, they can help alot.

EDIT: Yeah.....and please don't PL your job through the low levels, it's an excellent way to suck balls at it later.

I was just gonna write shut the fuck up, and go on my merry way. Then I decided that idiocy such as yours should not go uncorrected. You don't know me, you don't know who I am and what I have done in this game. It's been about a year and a half since I've done anything with a low level job, and I've always leveled everything in Windy, then Tahrongi and then dunes. Perhaps I was interested in where other people did their xping. Old hands learning new tricks and thus? No matter how long you've been around this game there is always something new to learn, another person's perspective to look at and consider.

As far as my skill playing the game. NO ONE who has trouble soloing, or even someone that lacks skills could ever get bst to 75, ask the bsts out there, if for some reason you doubt me. Mnk is just about the simplest job I've ever played I'm not worried a bit about learning it.

As far as me dying to EM's, YOU go play a taru mnk and see how you do at low levels where you miss many hits, then come back and tell me I suck. I have lower mp than other races, and I miss a BUNCH at 15 like most races.

It's not that I lack power, because I'm hitting about as hard as other mnk/wars (with most excellent gear) and I've actually been doing some tanking LOL and I've already found I can pull hate off a pally. In closing, shut the fuck up.

I really cant stand soloing 1-20, although I solo'd most 1-20 on drg...I've taken my sam from 10-32 in 2 days, had a really nice dunes pt. So dont lose hope yet =P

Besides, no matter how bad dunes pt's are, they always make me laugh.

This quote alone cracked me up.

Pulling hate off a tank = skill? Excellent gear at 15? You have much to learn, miss. Plus, at that level holding hate is a nightmare for ANY tank. A PLD has two things he can even do at that level. Voke, and cure. That isn't going to steal hate off an auto attacking red mage, hun.

Pull hate off your PLD 50+ and you're either partying with a completely crappy tank, or you are subbing war, voking, and throwing counterstance... in other words, you're playing a MNK like an idiot. For that matter, see how long you live when you do some tanking as a MNK and then LOL about it ;]

You dork! LOL. Try thinking before you post.. um hmmmmm why would a mnk need to pull hate off of a tank in the dunes? Hmmm let's see here what could it be? Perhaps the tank is DYING or perhaps it is n ninja recasting shadows or perhaps it's a WAR tank and you are swapping hate. I've had to pull hate off pallys because the whm has run out of mp and so has the pally and he's in the red. I didn't mention a word about mnk at level 50 so that really doesn't have anything to do with what I posted. You need to think a bit and read a bit deeper into something before you open your mouth to post.

What I really don't like is you talking down to me for no reason, so I've returned the favor. But you make yourself look like an ass. Miss.

I can vouch 1st hand that Kinkkerbelle's monk is putting out respectable damage. She started this character with funds from her main, and it shows- all +1s and +2s for gear. Granted there's not TOO much great gear early on, but it's gotta help some. Compare that to your average nation aketon and empty equipment slots noob and she's bound to stand out. As for skill - let's be realistic - levelling is hitting autoattack and hoping you win before you die. If tanks have no tools for holding hate, monks have even less tools for controlling it on their end - at least at low levels. I think it's too soon to worry about skill. It's arguable there's never much "skill" in FFXI, but at low levels, I think I'll hold it as fact.

As for levelling - just send me a tell, and I'll toss you some cures on EMs or something. You got a lot of exp yesterday you said - in Tahrongi. It was fun.

Oh Pomp you are just too sweet. Don't worry about this. Some people are just haters and there's nothing you can do about it. <3 you tho.

The way you WROTE it, you made it sound like you were gloating about pulling hate off PLDs at 15. Your attitude is worse than mine.

Anyway, if your gear really is the beans then you should have absolutely no problem solo'ing, taru or not. There isn't much skill involved in MNK at all anyway. Try bringing a good stock of hi potions if you really need that extra inch when you get bad rolls against a mob? Try using accuracy food if missing is what kills you? A good player fails, then adjusts to fix the failure, not whine about it like it's the end of the world on the flameboard. Gear = money, Success = skill. Remember that.

Did I not say before in this thread that mnk is the simplest job I have ever played? My original post was about my dismay at people who think it's not possible to XP without a PL, those who would rather just sit around getting no xp because they don't have a PL. How have gotten from that post to where you are now is beyond me lol.

You are just looking for something to bitch about, I think.

See kids, this is what happens when you try to offer some helpful advice, one of the many reasons I stay away from the dunes. You get slammed with gloating about their 4 days play experience and their "don't tell me how to play my job, because even though I'm complaining about the many ways I suck I obviously know more about this subject than you".

That or they cry about someone 'flamebaiting' and quit the internet altogether.

Right now I'm a 16 corsair. Please invite me lol. I took up this job because I wanted to try something a little more supportish. I've solo'd/duo'd easily 100 levels on two jobs by now (bst and blu) and over a hundred merits. There comes a point in time where you just don't give a damn if it's the dunes. I'd rather party than solo right now haha. So, please invite me. >:(

Plus, cor's kind of a support job. Would make sense to get used to the support part of it before reaching qufim imo.

Holy Freak out batman! Kink needs a chill pill...

Way to take some good advice and/or questions and turn it into a spazz fest!
