I'll begin to give credit to Sony when 3 of my playstations don't break down again over a 2 year period.
First off, there's no way in hell the PS3 cost BILLIONS to develop. Pure development cost is maybe 50 million max.Anttaru said:I don't mean to stick up for Sony, i'm just really annoyed with these uneducated/false hate videos, that gather sheep.
It's become trendy to bash Sony. It's very easy to make a video poking fun at any presentation. As a system the PS3 is really advanced by todays standards, as it's able to submit "trillions" of calculations in a second.
Billions of dollars invested in creating this machine, even at $1,000.oo that is still cheap for such hardware and software. Still it's cheaper than a PC at that depth.
The truth is Sony is recieving alot of flack for the price of the PS3. Other than that it would be great to have a working PS3. (God knows if the 1st generation PS3's will be stable)
Sony is too advanced too soon = Price up.
This is why everyone is hating on Sony. Making such videos and sending a messege not to buy a PS3 sounds very personal.
The video is either made by someone hurt by the price of their PS2's successor, or someone who wishes Nintendo and Microsoft will group together to destroy todays leader in computer entertainment. (Yes the PS2 is still the #1 Home console today)
If you're a true gamer, what good reason is there to dislike the PS3 ? Price is no excuse not to admire the system and games.

Bajaratt said:Second, the price tag is a huge reason why not to get a PS3, it's a lot of money to spend just for a gaming machine, and you're going to spend a lot more getting everything you'd want for it.
Bajaratt said:The hardware's capabilities are very impressive, but the processor is also an unproven technology; there's plenty of potential for it to go wrong and your PS3 could be worthless.
Bajaratt said:That's also not including the risk of the blu-ray format, which isn't widely used either. The entire console's basis is a combination of risks
Bajaratt said:As a "true gamer," price is important, I'm not made of money and I try to get the most bang for my buck.
Bajaratt said:The PS3 also hasn't shown much that's truely interested me as a gamer. Yes, the graphics are jaw-dropping, but graphics don't make a game, they just make it pretty.
Bajaratt said:The only PS3 title that I'm interested in at the moment is FFXIII; which I remember there were rumors it might be on 360 as well, but who knows. FFXIII is far down the line, so I certainly won't buy a PS3 for a game that's going to come out over a year from now.
Bajaratt said:All the rest of the games are simply graphics improvements, they might as well be ports for all the games are really changing. So you see, it's not just the price, it's what I'm getting for the price that's not very appealing.
Bajaratt said:In the future, I might get a PS3; but it'll have to be after there's enough games that I'm interested in to warrant the price tag.
Bajaratt said:Right now, there's just not enough to make me want to spend even $100 on the console; nothing excites me.
Bajaratt said:While it might be trendy to bash sony, you cannot deny that there are actual reasons to do so. Sony might have built the greatest gaming machine in history(won't know for years from now), but they have fucked up handling it to the consumers. Bashing sony has gone overboard as more and more people jumped on the bandwagon, but some of it is deserved.
You have no idea :spiteful:Anttaru said:Sony got smashed when they bit the analog and the rumble feature, now there is no rumble feature and Sony gets struck again. As if Rumble really imporves game play.
Anttaru said:Ok if you can't afford it, then don't buy it. No reason to tell people who actually can afford it they are making a bad choice. As consumers we always did pay more for games than we do for the systems. Always did. And if we didin't, the console market would crash and burn.
There is a difference between being a gamer and being a consumer. That's like saying you can't possibly admire a PS3 game just because of the price tag.
If they come out with a game that I'll actually care about, yes I'll buy a PS3. Since when did being a gamer mean throwing around all of your money, buying every console regardless of interest in the games? I could buy a PS3 now, I just have yet to see an actual reason to buy a PS3 in the games; which is the only thing that I care about. I don't have an HD tv, so being able to play in 1080p or whatever is of no use to me, neither is a blu-ray DVD to store HD-quality movies. Until they come out with games that actually interest me, the PS3 is crap; just like the 360 was, but the 360 is starting to get some games that look good so I might buy one eventually. Tell me, what games are you dying to play on the PS3?Eh ? You're going to buy a PlayStation 3 ?
Where the hell did you get that I don't like video games as much as a I used to? The only thing I said is that it takes more than a pretty picture to make a good game; if you ignore mediocre gameplay and story for just the quality of graphics, you're a very shallow gamer. What ? 3rd party Video game developers can't ? But they have before. You don't like Video games as much as you use to. That's fine but it's you're personal opinion.
This is all about the Wii mote isn't it. Only difference with that thing is we'll have to shake our ass to controll the game, what else is there ? Oh we can make Mario jump with a quick jolt of the wrist. Does the controller really make the game ? Will Zelda be better on the Wii just because we can use the Wii mote on it, as opposed to playing it on the cube which is totally identical. Personally i'd rather play it on the Wii, only because Wii is new.
If it fails, you just paid a few hundred extra for worthless technology in your PS3.PS3 is capable of playing Sony's Blu Ray. Which is around 50 gigs or so. If it fails what's the problem ? There is always CD and DVD and HDDVD.
And yet, I really haven't seen anything impressive from them. Considering that so many of the developers are starting to jump ship; no one can expect the PS3 to have nearly the game base of the PS2. If the games are made at all, they will likely be multi-console so there's even less reason to buy a PS3.Well it's up to the developers, as it always was. The PS3 is a super computer and again it does trillions of calculations per second. Unlike other systems it will keep track of a bullet even if you can't see it, It will also simulate gravity and kenitic energy, 2 things which does not exist in CG. Like the the other systems the PS3 will be unique, and supply us with new and inovative feeds that has never been done before in video games.
Yes, we're talking about toys, I think it's a huge waste of money to buy a toy with very little worthwhile factors. Let's also include the commercials, which can only be described as "What the fuck was that?"Um.... Sorry to say, but bashing Sony over something like this is very spoiled behaviour. We're talking about Toys here.

Bajaratt said:The Wiimote isn't the reason why I'm not liking PS3, but it is a step in the direction that I wish sony had taken. Rather than throw more power at a game, do something to make the game more fun; graphics don't change the gameplay at all unless they were so shitty you couldn't understand what was going on beforehand.
Bajaratt said:If it fails, you just paid a few hundred extra for worthless technology in your PS3.

Bajaratt said:I agree that some people are mindlessly bashing sony, but seriously, stop acting like that's all anyone is doing. If you can't see that sony has made some pretty big mistakes in their development and marketing of the PS3, then you're just blind to the extent of the worst of the Nintendo fanboys who thought Nintendo could do no wrong.
Bajaratt said:I love my PS2, and I was fully prepared to buy a PS3, but over the last year there has been so many fuck ups on sony's part that I really can't see buying one at this time.

That's just poor care for your system. I've never dropped/hit/kicked/whatever any of my systems and the sony systems always had problems first, if the other systems had problems at all. I replaced my ps2 2 years ago, but my game cube is still going strong; everyone I know replaced their ps2 within a year of mine, but all of our gamecube's are still running perfectly.Elemmire said:did you ever think.. you know.. maybe it was you? my PS2 I've had since release and only now has it started screwing up and that's my fault too XD only cause of all the moving around I've been doing and it being in boxes in car rides where it has bumpyness and then with other things that have made too much dust get inside.. but before that it was fine.. these are high tech pieces of equipment (well were high tech when they came out) not the tonko or tinker toys of when you were 3 :\ gotta be really careful with em..
everyone's so easily quick to judge Sony but I bet it's your own fault prolly.. and sure Nintendo's systems seem to be able to take more of a beating but they are delicate themselves as well.. back when N64 first came out and PS1 came out I got both and my N64 actually broke (well not entirely.. the reset button broke and some other things got messed up) cause it had issues of falling if I tripped over a cord that made the system get pulled out from where it was XD same with my PS1 though.. both of those have fallen.. it took a great deal of beating for both before they screwed up cause of my own clumsyness.. anyways.. I'm just tired of everyone blaming sony for things, I do agree they have glitches with some first released systems (though mine wasn't) but they aren't the only ones (lolMicrosoft) and I'm sure nintendo had a few systems that were fucked up too (though seemingly not as many or not as highly reported). Take some responsability.. you need to understand these are electronic machinery and require to be kept clean of dust, carefully moved around if moved, and not left on for long periods of time.. after all that's bad for the lasers and whatnot.
I've never heard of anyone doing free replacements when the product is out of warranty; and considering that I had owned the PS2 for about 3 years, it was definitely out of warranty.Ugotjacked said:Sony Fixes PS2 for free and ships them both ways for free... took them 3 weeks for mine, why would you replace yours? thats a couple hundred dollars down the drain when they fix them for free.
ohh yeah and my PS2 broke after I started moving it bringing it places and stuff like that otherwise it would still be running today prolly.

That's great, but if you're beating the shit out of your systems then it's your own goddamn fault when they don't work.Tagrineth said:There's a famous video where a guy drops a PS2, an Xbox, and a Gamecube off like a 4 story ledge. The PS2 just plain shatters when it hits the ground. The Xbox stays intact but won't boot up. The Gamecube comes out virtually unscathed.
