You cant Sneak attack OR Trick Attack like a THF. The subjob versions of these abilities are G*I*M*P*E*D and only lend well to being used with high-damage weapons during weaponskills. The katana are NOT high damage weapons.

Evasion boost does SHIT if you never get hit, and because you arnt tanking, buh-bye usefulness. Gilfinder and T-Hunder are great for farming, but add nothing to an XP party... just like NIN/THF (at any level).

YOU dont see anything wrong with this combo because YOU know nothing about the game. At least do your reading before you just slap two jobs together and say "It works!".

tell me, have YOU tried this combo or any other combo, no i don't think you have, you can only tell if you have tried it out, otherwise, SHUT IT, because you haven't tried it, you only THINK it won't work because you think, "Oh i am the almighty high level, i know everything", you can't just toss an idea away unless you have TRIED it, i talked a lvl 60 NIN in trying NIN/THF and he was impressed with it, and he wanted to try other subjobs

Sneak attack is a free critical hit, when you use it as a subjob. Have I tried it? YES. I have a 61 SAM and a 30 THF, thanks. I get to hit for 100 instead of 60 vs IT monsters. What do you think a short katana is going to do? 20 instead of 10, once every minute? SA does not have a damage bonus when you sub THF. Its just a critical hit.

Trick attack ALSO lacks a damage multiplier when subbed. All it does... *all* it does... is dump hate. So, when you SATA with your Short Katana onto a tank... the mob will think the tank hit him for 20-30 damage. This makes you *useless*.

You see, I dont have to "Try" a job combo to know how stupid it is. I understand the game's mechanics, and have done (and continue to do) enough reading to know what does and doesnt work.

You may not like the way I present my information, but calling it anything but informed and true is you, basically, being in denial.

(if your high level NIN/THF friend turns out to be the Bradey Guide, im going to shoot someone...)

I was thinking, maybe NIN WASNT intended to be a DD, or a Tank, maybe they were sopposed to be soloers, makes total sense to me, because, in history, Ninjas werent in groups, they "soloed" their kills, such as Assassinations...
My proof? Ninjas have Utsusemi for one thing, to help lower the damage down to you in a battle, then you got enfeebling Ninjutsu, Slow, Paralyze, Blind, all 3 seem to help a Ninja in its already good Evasion, also helps Utsusemi stay up and active, your best targets are high delayed mobs, less hits to be done, more time for utsusemi casting, and also they are usually low acc., meaning dodge more attacks.

WHEN YOU ARE A MAIN JOB THF, THE ABOVE IS TRUE.

When you are a subjob THF, DEX and AGI are not added into the abilites for damage multipliers. I *already* told you, Oni-Idiot, that when subbed:

Sneak = Critical Hit
Trick = Damage dump

NO DEX or AGI BONUS ADDED IN. NONE. NADA. ZIPPO.

Did your imaginary high-level NIN/THF friend tell you that?

Do you have any clue how expensive it would be to solo as a NIN for XP?

Why are you a NIN?

Actually, the properties of the THF abilities when subbed *do not* change depending on your main job.

So the real thing that makes SAM/THF "more different" than NIN/THF is that SAM can build TP fast enough to put the gimped SA and TA to use in his weaponskills most often.

Me doing TrickAttack-Tachi:Yukikaze from behind the tank dumps 300+ damage worth of agro onto him.

NIN/THF doing TrickAttack-Anything from behind the tank dumps insignifigant ammounts of agro.

Me doing a normal SneakAttack is a critical hit. With a medium-high damage weapon, Ill hit for 100+ on IT monsters.

NIN/THF doing SneakAttack is also a critical hit. With a very low damage weapon, he will hit for 20-30 on IT monsters.

Post 60...
WAR/THF w/ Great Axe works.
DRK/THF w/ Great Sword or Scythe works.
SAM/THF w/ Great Katana works.

NIN/THF does not.
Your 'friend' on the 'other server' has no idea what he is talking about.

If you want him to take your advice I'd suggest not insulting him. I know you know what you are talkng about Keits, but you dont have to make those who dont know as much about job combinations feel stupid. I meet people like this in real life all the time. The difference, I suppose, is that I'm more willing to speak my mind when I know that I'll never have physical contact with this person, ever (IE. He cant pop my tires or deface/steal anything I own).

but whatever, i don't care anymore, as it is, there is a lot of Ninjas...my friend went into qufim, and everywhere you go, there was at least 5 ninjas tanking, then in yhoator, a lot of ninjas tanking...
i just want to level Ninja to a nice level, so then i can role-play, and also i think, IMO, Ninjas are really good in Ballista...

Oh, and the high level NIN, i said he only TRIED it out, he still plays as NIN/WAR

All i really wish was that SE made NIN more of a damage dealer or something, so i was just looking for alternative choice for a sub, to make NIN a bit more of a DD

I love ninja, in almost everyone RPG, that allows you to create a character, and it has different classes, jobs, etc. I usually play the ninja role, stealth, katanas, and other stuff.
And i also love role-playing as a Ninja, its how i like to play

If you can't beat em, join em, i guess, so i guess i am going to be a NIN/WAR(yay.....*rolls eyes*).....until SE does something....

Sorry if this topic is dead or anything, but just to say something. Last night I partied with an Elvaan NIN/RDM level 35 at Crawlers Nest. Right off the bat, the MP was only 50, that wasn't a good sign.

Here's the thing though, I was using my THF/NIN, and I was dual weilding Federation Kukri's at level 35. When the battle started, I would use SATA for roughly 280-300+ depending if Viper Bite was ready, then when the battle started, I was hitting for 17-22 a hit on Worker Crawlers. The NIN/RDM was hitting for 22 a hit, +3-5 with the En spell enabled. I was swinging faster, and had done atleast 200 DMG right off the bat. During the fight I would Sneak Attack again for 100 DMG or so. Throughout the night, all this person did was cast En spells on her swords. Not even Katana's, swords. She couldn't get any of her enfeebles to stick, no point in even trying, and she was resting to get back her MP and wasting TP.

Overall, NIN/RDM is a piss poor damage dealer and brings nothing to the PT. Me and the PLD should have asked the leader to boot the person, but the PT was so good that we didn't want downtime. RDM sub can't stick any spells, and with only 50MP your choice is limited anyway. The damage is pathetic, I was outdamaging the person usually per swing (but I was using Mithkabobs while she used nothing). Overall, it just doesn't help the NIN main job at all, if anything, it limits you really, hell, if you wanted to tank, how are you gonna grab hate other than spamming shurikens if you got them. Just wanted to share my experience.

Edit: Oh and Villarel, a lvl 57NIN/WAR i was talking to, one day decided to solo crabs that were VT, he soloed them with ease, so NIN's are good soloers :P
