Looks like Peregrine was right. Blm nerf.

Quote- Another good point Skaw brings up is that cannon parties aren't the issue, exp is just endless grinding as it is. Missions and huge BCs etc. that are supposed to be epic battles getting mana burned in one synced mass spell cast isn't the way it's supposed to be. You completely bypass any challenge and get an instagib autowin on things that are supposed to pose a threat. SE obviously didn't intend for it to be this way. It's really not very hard to understand at all. Quit being so angry about it.

Answer me this, why does it concern you what strategy people use to beat epic battles or any mission/quest. Why is it any of your business if people want to bypass any challenges? Are they in any way affecting your game play? This is my logic, if you dont like to manaburn, then fine, dont manaburn, but why do you want others to stop manaburning? Let me guess, SE didnt intend them to. Well, the mechanics of the game allows them to do so. Should nin not be a tank b/c SE didnt intend them to be? I dont care what u do with your war, it doesnt affect me at all. What i do care is when apparently its ok to nerf blm, b/c people are upset that they can do some things that their job cant. Thats the point of having different jobs. theres no need for people to cry about it and therefor get the job changed. So, how is my logic flawed? The way i see it is that most blm agree with me, and most non blm do not. This is a real arguement. Why should my enjoyment of the game suffer because a few people think my job is too strong, yet when i manaburn, it does absolutely nothign to them.
It's their business when they can't get people to do these missions normally. I've said this before several times, it's a pain in the ass trying to get people for it, because people can manaburn it easy they don't want to do it the hard way. When people are turned down because they aren't one of the "in" jobs, then there's an imbalance that should be fixed. That's where people have a problem, that's where you interfere with other's gameplay.

I'm not upset that blm can do what I can't. If I wanted to do what blm does, I'd level blm; but I didn't like the job and I prefered other roles. Not everyone likes blm, and not everyone is a bandwagon rider. Your attitude is practically, "level blm and then you can join in too, until then who cares?" In no way is it right to pretty much force someone to level a job they don't want to level just so they can get something done that they could do on another job they already have leveled.

Bingo. This game isn't fucking called "Black Mage Online."

1st, how is nerfing blm gonna fix this? Wont whoever is setting up a pt still have to set it up pretty much the same way they are now? Fine, 18 blm cant go in now. All it means is that melee based alliances get to go fight for 20 mins, while blm get screwed unless they join a melee based alliance.

As for my attitude, its not lvl blm so u can join. Its blm can do something easy, and they shouldnt be punished for it. All that is going to happen now is someone will exploit another job, which will have to be nerfed b/c omg, it can do something blm cant.

Oh no.. you actually have to put in the same challenge and time required from other jobs. Here's my violin, want me to play you a sad tune?

Again. People don't want to do things without XXX Black Mages. They latch onto your jobs underbelly and don't want to do things without then. It's funny when I was helping with Diabolos Prime, how many people didn't want to do it without 5 Black Mages. It's a hinderance on gameplay because people adopt manaburning as the only way to get things done. Quit being ignorant over that point.

It'll change because now black mages will actually have to join the melee alliances, rather than just manaburn their way through. OMG, blm and melee will have to work together in a party format, who could have thought something so crazy would ever happen? Oh yeah, SE.

I think they should even out the jobs by letting you only play one job per character. No sub jobs, no band wagon hopping, no bull shit. That would make the game much more fun.

No thanks, I like XI's system of one character can be any job. It's stops the bandwagoning of race for each job, and actually encourages you to level other jobs.

Sure, play me a tune, it dont have to be sad tho. As for those other people that you are complaining bout, how many actually get to be involved in manaburn? I think it would be safe to assume that its a pretty small amount, which still leaves a large pool of people to band together and do a DM in a traditional way.

Stupid shit like people thinking Desert Swarm actually needs 5 BLMs when it can be killed by almost any setup is why BLMs are getting nerfed. Blame the ignorant people and those who exploit weaknesses to the extreme. Who knows though...this stupid update could not affect BLM at all, just like everyone was freaking when they thought ninja wouldn't be a tank any more because of the weak utsusemi change.

Wait...stop the boat. You mean that in a game that encourages you level all the jobs...there can still be bandwagoning of one job? That doesn't make sense to me. Am I leveling a job because I'm on the bandwagon..or is it because eventually I want Maats Cap???? I don't know??? Wait maybe it's for the versitility that having multiple jobs leveled offers.... Nope I'm just on the bandwagon.

The way you're bitching about this, yeah, it sounds like you're bandwagoning.

What the hell are you on? One job per character, with racial differences means you had better pick the right race for the job. If you're a mage, you damn well better be a taru, melee you should be elvaan or galka, etc. That's what I mean by racial bandwagonning with one job per character. Seriously, you need to learn how to read and understand what you're reading, not just making shit up because one word is used.

Yeah I'm on the bandwagon considering that I started playing WHM in late Feb- early march of 04 and switched to BLM at the beginning of April 04... The only jobs I ever wanted to be in this game are WHM BLM and SAM. In that order. I now have a 58 WHM, 50 SAM, and 40 BLM, all of which would of been level 75 already but I had to leave the game for close to 16 months due to real life activities. Hell this in't even my original server, I initially started on Pandemonium(sp?) Only came here because this is where my brother was at.

I don't know as a Hume BLM I can give a good taru BLM a run for his money, and take a few more hits before I bite it.

Ignoring Shaunessy because I can't figure out the logic of any of his arguments for the life of me...

Sirelrohir, you could make the exact same argument for just about any exploit in the game. Let's take a teleport bot as an example. You take your bot up to the Spire of Holla, and solo the ENM there, because you can teleport around while resting so the boss can never hit you, then nuke him, then rest some more. Then you wear the earring drop. Then you use that technique on a ton of other things. Did you ever affect the economy? Maybe, maybe not, depends if you sold those items you got at absolutely no risk. Was it wrong? In every sense of the word. It doesn't matter if it directly affects other people, the simple fact that you are doing it makes it wrong. BLMs burning down Divine Might in 6 seconds doesn't affect anybody besides the BLMs. But do people take notice, and maybe some get offended? You bet.

And yes I know that BLMs manaburning their way through xxx is not the same as botting their way through, but dammit, it's the same principle.

Just because it doesn't directly affect our economy, or other characters, or whatever, doesn't mean it won't affect the players. And the players are the ones who complain to SE and cry nerf, not the characters they play.

Come on now. Theres a huge difference b/w flat out cheeting and laziness. The players in manaburns still have to get together and come up w/ a strat (granted, its a simple ''nuke @ a certain time"). Its quick and easy, but not comprable to cheating.

Edit* and why are people offended? is it jealousy?

There's a difference? Seems to me the only difference is that they're different forms of shortcuts. They're still shortcuts, and they're not supposed to be there.

No, the way i look at it is, one is a short cut, that comes from a 3rd pt software. The other is a strategy that pertains to a specific job originally set up by SE. Now, after ~4 years, people are complaining and the job is getting nerfed. Huge difference imo.

It's an imbalance that's being exploited. Part of playing a game is that there's a challenge to the rewarding things you do. It's the same reason people get upset with gilbuyers, or at least one of the reasons.

ps - Is there even the slightest amount of SE backing for these RUMORS about job changes? This was some guy's notes from talking to people at the festival, and I didn't see mention of even who he talked to. It could be some random nut in the parking lot for all we know.
