Looks like some new abilities...

How did they nerf Benediction? It still does the same thing it did when this game came out. On to the topic of Invincible and Benediction. PLD uses invincible then the WHM uses benediction when the invincible is done the WHM is dead. If you reverse it though the PLD will keep hate when the invincible wears off. I don't know why it works out that way but I've had enough deaths from it to know that's how it happens.

Neyla and Elemmire...As you move further in the game there is no amount a -emnity gear that you can get that will stop a mob from turning if you use benediction at the proper time. If you use benediction and the mob doesn't turn then you weren't in a situation that you even needed to use it.

... No. I can't remember the last time past 60 that Benediction pulled hate, even when everyone was in the red and everyone was out of MP

pld/nin is the standard for pld tanking wyrms. a 3 min provoke would be an awesome addition to make it easier. it would be perfect if you had the helm that drops from vrtra also. it has a 3 or 5 min timer for the ja provoke. cycle between the two, it would be awesome for pld/nin

I've never seen or heard anyone having a PLD/NIN tank unless they have the Vrtra helm =/ PLD/WAR is better by far... they really don't hit that hard

They also have PLD's with Vrtra helm and a lot of other godly equipment, and like I said. I've never seen it done without a Vrtra helm

go look at the tiamat vid on there....2 or 3 pld lined up...none with vrtras helm

Downloading it right now to watch it again. Although I have to say that I'd probably prefer PLD/WAR WAR/WHM WAR/WHM RDM/SMN WHM/SMN BRD/WHM in the tank party :P

if you're in a party of galka mnks each with 2000 hp and each at 1 hp fighting a mob, and you bene, damn right thats the most enmity in the game.

in the vid, its at 3:07 where its crystal clear that they have nin sub

Pld/nin without a provoke is pretty hard to pull off... but i think in that case a nin or a war/nin would be better

if pld had provoke then pld/whm would give merit considering savage blade is mind base and would mean stronger heals/more heals>more mp and access to erase to boot

You're flat-out wrong on this one, Shaunessy. Benediction isn't an instant death sentence at the higher levels the way it was at the lower levels before all the -enmity gear and the tanks' +enmity gear came into play. I've used Benediction with everyone in the red to prevent a party wipe without drawing the mob's attention.

You're no where near high enough to talk about "Further in the game."

Blessed set is a godsend to Benediction, ontop of Merits.

Nothing (that I can do, at least) can take the hate off Invincible. But the few times I have used it, I said I was, and people would be voking off me as my 2HR is going off, so it was easy to get the mob off me and onto another viable tank should it be necessary, even if it is just for a few seconds.

I've had Invincible do absolutely nothing in terms of hate during Diabolos.. twice. And before you say it, yes, the Paladin had done something to put himself on the hate list. It was mid fight.

Either Diabolos is designed towards Invincible not affecting him, or Invincible isn't as fool-proof as we've thought.

I've pulled hate off invincible several times as rng, I'd estimate the hate as being somewhere around 2-3 times a provoke.

Shaunessy, as you move further into the game, you'll realize just how wrong you really are and that people who have more experience in the game are right. I've pulled hate off benediction in the 70's with hundred fists, I've had pld's pull the mob off me with a simple provoke. I've used benediciton when the entire party was in the red and the mob never looked my way. The order you use the 2hr's is irrelevant, the amount of hate generated by both would be the same in either order, there is no reason for it to be otherwise. Unless your paladin is complete crap or dead at the keyboard, he can pull hate off your benediction; especially at the later levels of the game when they have +enmity gear and far more hate tools.

Stop trying to act like you know everything about the game, especially when you're so horribly wrong about your main job. If you want to talk like a high level, try getting to a high level first.

Won't you still have flash, and the enimity + gear and all those other abilities to hold hate and then by the time you need it again, it could maybe be up? iunno. >.>

Besides subbing NIN for PLD, wouldn't warrior almost always be preferred simply for the Physical Defense Up trait? Although NIN is a nice idea and taking no damage for 5-6 shadows (pre-level 74) seems great, but doesn't a PLD need to take the damage to self cure and hold hate? It's possible the PLD could not stay 100%(70-80% sounds about right) after the end of each fight and toss a cure in at the start of next fight while shadows are up to produce some hate. I guess it could work, but just think that it take some getting used to.

PLD gets its own Defense Bonus traits, and more than Warrior (up to III).

PLD/NIN is outright idiocy for exp, regardless of Provoke or the party setup.

PLD/MNK at most levels, and PLD/RDM at 64+ would both be significantly better.

PLD/NIN should be saved solely for events.

Edit: Oh, and Shaunessey, you're an idiot.

PLD get a large array of hate-grabbing abilities. Practically every JA/spell they have can turn a mob. (Sentinel, Rampart, Flash, CureIV, etc.)

Not only that, they have the most enmity+ available in the game, so each swing/JA gains that much more.

A skilled PLD may be able to hold hate without provoke(or warcry). Post-60, even an avg PLD can hold hate against Benediction, without using Invincible.
