Losing weight ...

Working out before bed actually isn't that beneficial...because the body needs some time to wind down and stuff, it'll become tough to sleep for a while afterwards (unless you're absolutely exhausted - and going to sleep in a state where you're lacking oxygen and stuff can actually be bad for you since it can cause your body to relax too much)

And stuff..

Just a small update for me. I've been drinking more ... ugh ... water ... and doin' Ranpha's exercises she pm'd me.

Unofficially, as of this morning, I've lost 3!!!! lbs. Now mind you, that was in a T-shirt & panties, and when I first woke up. When I weigh in on Tuesday nites, I weigh in at 6 PM so that hurts me and I'll have on Levi's which weigh a pound by themselves. Even so, I should be down a good 2 lbs. when I weigh in this week if not more. I'm a pretty happy camper right now. Btw, my scale here at home is right on with the WW's scale.

I just want to thank you all again for the beauty comments and suggestions. It's really helping me to keep goin' on.

One of my favorite sayings anymore is the one Steve's oldest brother says these days (who lost 60 lbs. last year and has kept it off). It goes like this:

If losing weight was easy, then everyone would be thin. It's hard as hell and it takes a ton of commitment, determination and will power.

Thanks again everyone!!!! If you have any other suggestions, I'm always open to hear them^^.

my mom did weight watchers, and I was sooo proud of her even jealous at the fact she had such self control. I think what you are doing is very noble and a great thing, Kat. She lost a total of 85lbs on the program. If you stick with it I'm sure you'll do great! Exercise too! :D

I used to have a pop addiction too. Like you, I wasn't found of all water all the time. I switched to crystal light lemonade. Has some flavor and basically nothing else. Kicked pop pretty easy after that.

Nice concept Al, but unfortunately I'm not a lemonade drinker. I'll drink water over lemonade. Thanks for the idea though^^.

Thanks Reya, Ranpha and Jen. I really appreciate the support.

Btw, I did lose that 2 lbs. last nite (Steve lost 2.2 ... grrrr, he always beats me!!!). But yah, I'm a pretty happy camper right now^^.

^.^-b Way to go Kat.....cant wait to see where you'll be about a month from now.

On a similer note.....I need to 'gain' weight. I'm so friggen skinny and about the only way I can actually gain weight is by working out and gaining muscle mass. My motabolism is so incrediably high that it doesnt matter what I eat......yea, thats a good thing to have but damn.....i'm so skinny. I've been trying to get motivated into working out again. I used to work out all the time and be in such great shape.

No matter, GL on your progress, i'm sure you'll do great

That's ok, they have other flavors too. I just prefer lemonade.

Kat, Just found the thread, and glad to hear that you're making the progress you're looking for. :) It sounds like you have lots of advice from smarter people than myself, so I have nothing really to contribute other than words of encouragement. I imagine the holidays are a hard time to stay vigilant, so my thougths are with you as you stand in front of Christmas dinner. :)

I wish you a healthy body, and a happy mind. If you're under 5 foot, aren't you considered a "little person"? he he

lol You suck. I'm the opposite way. My metabolism is so incredibly slow that I have to exercize every damn day so I don't blow up like a Thanksgiving Day float. My doctor said my metabolism is very slow. I don't even know how he measured it, but was after some tests and stuff. Because of this though, I will never be able to maintain a normal weight unless I'm out running for an hour or two every day, which I have been pretty good with doing since my freshman year of high school. Running and a strict weight training program keep me in line. Only takes about 3 hours out of my day combined, but I start it early in the morning and it keeps me pumped the rest of the day, so it is a good thing.

do what i do, sit on ur ass and play FFXI all day and eat everything in the house! i do that and im only 125 lbs at 14 1/2 lol.

Try that when you're 19 Deuce, it doesn't work anymore. Sometime around when you start college your metabolism changes, and that super-charged system you have while going through puberty doesn't happen anymore. That's one of the reasons behind the "freshman 15" (or 30 in my case). I kept doing what I'd done in highschool and ended up gaining weight so fast that I have stretch marks from it. Luckily I can blame those on pregnancy now instead of just being a former fatass, haha.

I haven't had to actually diet personally (unless you count the "breastfeeding and chasing an active toddler" diet and exercise regimen) but I still do my best to eat healthy. I avoid pop whenever possible, tending to only drink it when we eat out. At home I'll either drink ice water with a squirt of lemon juice in it, or kool-aid with about half the sugar they recommend if I want something sweet. Fiber is also your friend- high fiber stuff tends to make you feel full faster, and longer, than other snacks.

It's about continuing a healthy diet. The time you eat. The meals you don't skip. The normal exercise your body needs.

Everyone's physiology is different. But everyone's body follows the same logic for processing energy. People find their lifestyle changes near college. Things and meals you used to eat you don't anymore. It's subtle. But it's enought o make a change to your weight. Which is visible and easy to notice.

Here i will release my dieting secret. For a long time i have and still do eat everything and anything that i want to. Do you know what i changed to make me loose weight...

I quit drinking regular coke. About a year and a half ago i was drinking probably 6-8 cokes a day at 110 calories a piece. Changed those to alternatives and now the only thing i drink is homemade iced tea and water. This reduced my daily caloric intake by ~700 calories a day (ballpark figure). In the last year and a half i have dropped from 198 to 163 and for a 5-11 and a half person 160 ish is not too bad.

I still eat everything else that i want to didnt change my workout routine (or for the most part lack there of) and i have gotten down to what i think my ideal weight is.

Just my opinion.

BTW from a biochemist POV this shit is horrible for you with the amount of acid that is in it and zero neutritional value.

As for the caffine i cant stop that and i still find myself taking caffine pills from time to time. (trying to quit those too).

Just gotta remember you males out there, that when a females body usually changes the most, it is during/after pregnancy/childbirth. Don' know why but us carrying those babies, no matter what you do, always gives you hips if nothing else^^.

I weighed 89 lbs. all thru high school and while I went to college. I weighed 100 lbs. when I weighed in the first time I went to the doctor when I found out I was carrying Heather. I was 20 almost 21. By the time I went into delivery I weighed 155 lbs. I've been up and down since for 23 years now. I'd get back down to about 110 and then blimp back out again for some reason or another.

When I had my surgery in 1999, I controlled it for a tad, and I won't get into the specific details, but my doctor was able to save my ovaries (guys get really grossed out when females talk about this stuff, so I'm trying not to get too graphic). Anyway, I still had some problems so he ended up giving me Lupron shots (in the year 2001 they were 1500.00 per shot). A woman can only have 2 in her lifetime cuz they take a lot of bone marrow. A side effect of these shots is weight gain. Anyway, the first one wasn't so bad, but unfortunately I was the type of person who had to have 2 to get rid of the problem. The second one made me gain a lot of weight. Again, I wasn't obese or anything, but I got pretty chunky. Needless to say, I've been again goin' up and down on the damn weight.

Since I've joined WW's I've been really good and I don't cheat except to get pizza once every about 10 weeks. We almost got pizza this past Tuesday, but with Christmas we thought better of it. I'm also over 40 now, which doesn't help.

Steve cheats like crazy. It drives me totally nuts!!!! He still loses about 2-3 lbs. a week.

Needless to say, this is not a "diet" to me. It's totally changing my eating habits. I will never go back to eating sugar foods again, 2% milk, reg bread on a daily basis, or any type of fatty foods. When I have tasted them in the past 24 weeks, they are either too sweet, or if it's something greasy, my tummy can't take it and it starts hurting.

Lastly, I honestly feel better. More energy, yada yada. I feel joining WW's was probably the best thing I could ever do. I just wished I liked water more.

I don't have any weight problems but, I see where you are coming from in the water department, I used to hate water, but I HAVE to drink it, I swim 6 times a week and get dehydrated otherwise, so I just chill my water, put a couple of blocks of ice in it, dunno if you are allowed to, or if you already do it, I haven't a clue bout the diet thing, but I hope that helps.
