Well, this RPG by Mistwalker is released in the US today and in the UK and EU in 17 days and was release in Australia 4 days ago (I think). Its official thread time!

So, who is gonna pick up this game today? What were the reviews like in magazines? What are you opinions about it? and so on...

This 4 DVD RPG epic was given 8.8 and it looks pretty awesome from the reviews. Anyways, let the discussions begin ^^

This game is pretty epic. Love the characters, The story, The graphics, Gameplay. I'd only recommend this game to those who LOVE Turnbase because in the end, this game is like every other turnbase which I think everyone has done/played. I'm a Turnbase fan so this game is for me plus its from Sakaguchi which makes me want it even more though he didn't try hard enough to make this game 'The best game in my life omgzors I just jizzed. It's still old Turnbase and maybe one thing thats new to the battle but thats it, everything else seems original but I liked the game, I don't know about anyone else but I loved it.
 
I'm still lol'ing at the main character being the same as Planescape: Torment and the premise of the story sounding similar :P but hey, that wouldn't stop me from enjoying it. Specially cause that kinda main character isn't done much so I'm sure the story over all will be different and fun. Gameplay looks solid, story still looks good and the reviews are saying it's great. hehe I need to get to my friend's to play this :P I really love hearing that you really get into the characters, that they really draw you in and make you feel for them :D
 
I see one character as a total slap in the face for Final Fantasy. The engineer/airship guy is named Sed. Too close to Cid in my opinion.
 
I'm very hyped up about this release. I was just flipping through the strategy guide and it looks like a lot of fun. I've needed a good rpg fix in a while, only fun one I've played in ages that wasn't a remake was Eternal Sonata...
 
After I told myself not to I went to Fry's anyways to go buy this. Luckily or unluckily they hadn't received the shipment yet. Saved from spending $60 that I should keep in my pocket.

That's a good one, so was Wild ARMs 5(least for me), can't wait for WA:XF for PSP, and FFVII: CC as well.

There were several rpgs(not remakes) I've enjoyed in 2007, so how long would "in ages" be referring to? My opinion =/= yours, but just curious about that timeline.

OT: Looking forward to Lost Odyssey, although I'm not going in expecting RPG Heaven, because my idea of that changes constantly, plus BD was somewhat of a letdown with the hype it received.
 
It ships today. It won't be in ~90% of stores until tomorrow depending on when fed ex gets there.
 
Still, I shouldn't buy it. I must focus all my extra money towards closing costs on my house.

Hey, FUCK YOU Gerry, I was gonna make this thread. No one here is more excited about this game than I am. I'm the self-proclaimed biggest turn-based RPG fan on the planet Earth. I nearly jizzed myself when I heard this was turn-based. I thought that age of the RPG was dead, but finally, a resurrection. I could cry.

Oh, and did anyone else see notice the ultra-badass Jefferson Airplane song on the commercial? Everything about this game is pure fuckin win.

LOL nice post, im excited about this like you are. Are you talking about GOOD jrpg's? Or jrpg in general? They still come out, Persona 3, Blue Dragon (fucking horrible game) etc.

Ontopic, Wild ARMs 5 was enjoyable turnbased game to me, albeit using HEX battle system as opposed to a typical turn based battle system. And more are releasing down the road, can't wait for FFIV DS and DQIV-VI DS, although ports... V and VI we never got here, hope we do this time around.
And of course the next in the series DQIX.

Sorry, It was about 8am in the morning, I was using my granddads internet, I found that this game was supposed to be out in the US, and I was bored.

No ads in the UK yet, and if there were, they would suck as they are only 4 seconds long and say "[game name] out now", nothing for commercial appeal so tv makes gaming seem smaller. even the DMC 4 ads sucked in the UK. The only decent UK 4 second gaming ad was for FFXII because it had Patrick Stewart saying buy this game!

Still, I wouldn't worry about ads for games in this country as gaming is huge here, as is the case everywhere else in the world.

I also agree with you Excalibur, hurrah for the return of turn based RPGs

you guys need to get it now!. Jizzing comes with the game (If you're a turnbase fan). Not going to gloat around saying "I have it, It rulez and I rulz lolz", but hell, this game IS Pure win.
